  • England cricketing legends Michael Vaughan and Phil Tufnell, along with the Telegraph's Ben Wright, look back at the 1st Test in the series against the West Indies and finds England in dominant form, but the Windies lacking. Carlos Brathwaite, former West Indies T20 captain, joins the boys in the studio to discuss what can be done to return the Windies to Test stardom. Plus, Michael, Phil, Ben, and Carlos rank a selection of players on the brand new (and hi-tech) Cricket Club Scoreboard!

Excellent thoughts by Braithwaite as usual. I need sharp-thinking past players like Braithwaite to get involved in the administration or coaching.

Carlos Brathwaite missed the fundamental point. Sobers' teams from 1968 were loosing cricket. However Sobers, Gibbs, Kanhai and Lloyd were dominant in English county cricket,
    1973 England v West Indies - 2nd Test
    Edgbaston, Birmingham
    9th August, 1973
Roy Fredericks, Ronald Headley, Rohan Kanhai*, Clive Lloyd, Alvin Kallicharran, Garry Sobers, Deryck Murray†, Bernard Julien, Keith Boyce, Vanburn Holder and Lance Gibbs
The entire team were experienced in English county cricket
    1976 England v West Indies - 1st Test
    Trent Bridge, Nottingham
    3rd June, 1976
    West Indies
Roy Fredericks, Gordon Greenidge, Viv Richards, Alvin Kallicharran, Clive Lloyd*, Bernard Julien, Larry Gomes, Deryck Murray†, Vanburn Holder, Andy Roberts, and Wayne Daniel
English county cricket was a magnificent finishing school
And the institution is not available to current generations as it were to 1950s - 1980s
That then is the primary difference.
