SHOCKINGLY SLIPPERY! It Was Safe & Usable! Became So Dangerous, We're SCARED To Use Our Side Door!

    Hey everyone, welcome to another Sunday night video.
    I was called in to clean this customers driveway & patio, but the main reason I was brought in was to sort out their dangerously slippery patio. The area directly outside their side door, the door they used the most, had become so infested with slippery, slimy algae, that they had become scared to use it, for fear of slipping over and hurting them selves, which very nearly happened on a number of occasions.
    Come and join me as I transform their cement stained driveway, super slippery side patio, and carry out some re-pointing on their main rear patio area.

    The difference is night and day. 🌑🌞 I will admit that I was a little nervous when you did the slide on the side entrance that you were going to land on your butt. 🤣 I also loved the little pre-emptive talk about the gloves. 🧤Nice touch. I can't stand to wear gloves either when gardening, but I can handle latex gloves to protect the hands rather than nothing. And I brought up the lack of camera issues too soon last week. 😉 Thanks for sharing your videos with us, Nick. It is not the noise or the music for me. I just love watching you take something that is so filthy, and bringing it back to life. 😉 Great job. 👍🏼👍🏼

    Really nice Nick! That little circle came out so beautiful. The rest is almost like new and so much safer for the owners. I so appreciate your attention to the little things. I hope you did not have bad repercussions to putting in all that grout. Sure will make it look better and last longer. Hope this finds you not in pain.

    Could you get a short step stool to sit on for pointing? Might save your back more and be a bit easier getting up off the ground. I say this as someone with horrible back issues 😅 Since the bricks lift out that was lazy on the fence installers part. Glad the stains came off with the nozzle. It’s amazing how slippery that became when wet 😳 Amazing job as usual Nick! 😊 looked really great after your cleaning ❤

    I kept wondering where you were and finally decided I'd missed you. No idea how - my notifications are set - but your video wasn't in my list. So just now seeing it. Haha I'll no sooner finish this comment than you'll post this week's video!
    That came up very nicely! Much brighter and cleaner all over and the green, slippery part is safely non-skid and a pretty pearly color. I was happy for you that you didn't need to bring in the acid! 😬 and that the capstones on the walls came so clean with the hypo.
    Sorry to hear the back experiment was a bust. But glad it wasn't worse. You seemed to enjoy the pointing, though, so I wish you'd had success. Is there a brace you can wear that will make you bend from the waist while keeping your back straighter rather than curling your back? I wonder if that would be better or worse? Well, never mind. Now that you've shown us how to mix it and what to do, we'll all just go start our own businesses to spare your back! 😉🤣🤣🤣

    Glad you were able to catch-up this area. This has a beautiful color change in front and sets-off the nicely kept yard. I'm noting that the "continuous" paving type out into the street makes for a problem of not causing cleanup related pattern changes in the area. Pleased that the Black Spot in the back responded well to the hypo and the tiles are now "slip free". It looks like the garden and area there is going to look lovely when all put back together. Just as you mentioned some pointing needed to be redone, I was reminded I haven't learned anything about that yet...and you start in on showing how you do repairs. Thank you. The music kept up a beat of motion and was pleasant to listen to. Much appreciation for explaining pointing.

    I am use to seeing people do the edging first, then the pan out and then just reg. rinse. different.

      I prefer to edge after using the flat surface cleaner, I've always done it that way. It really makes no difference which way round it's done, it's just down to personal preference. But yes I think you're right, I think I may be the only one on TH-cam that does it that way.

      Around 10:40 you are spraying suds etc . What % SH are you using and will this kill black spots etc?

    I could kinda tell that side patio would be proper slippery before you wet it down. Scrubber did the job though.

    Hi bud me again 🤦‍♂️🤣 just a question for you if you don't mind, can I use washing up liquid to 25ltr sh or should I use a surfactant and what type, thanks in advance 😎👊

    • @PrestigeExternalCleaning
      @PrestigeExternalCleaning  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Using fairy liquid isn't really advisable, as it's not approved to be used with SH, surfactant is made to be used with it, and will create more foam, something like this www.bonnymans.co.uk/product-page/softwash-surfactant-bleach-safe-water-based-surfactant

    • @PrestigeExternalCleaning
      @PrestigeExternalCleaning  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@garyreed2144 No it won’t. Bonding agent is completely unnecessary in most cases. The cement and moisture content is what bonds it. I’ve re-pointed hundreds of patios over the years and many years later checked on them. And guess what, none of its come out.

    On the matter of gloves, yes I understand.
    Most of the hardware and tool shop gloves are pretty poor and uncomfortable.
    One problem you will have, because you have large hands is getting gloves that fit properly.
    .
    Two things I can recomend are
    Tig welding gloves, they have thin soft leather hands and a heavier gauntlet ...... good for dry work, good for pruning prickly shrubs.
    High risk surgical gloves, there are black surgical gloves heavier than the normal latex, they have become very popular with mechanics and spray painters.
    BOTH come in sizes and are far more comfortable than typical crappy gloves.
    The tig welding gloves obviously you will get from a welding shop.
    The high risk surgical gloves I get from my automotive paint supplier, they come in a box like tissues, disposable but can be reused.

    • @PrestigeExternalCleaning
      @PrestigeExternalCleaning  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you're trying to say the soap isn't any good for the grass, then i'm afraid you are incorrect. The soft wash (soap) won't cause any damage to the grass as long as the grass is pre and post soaked with clean water, which it was.

      @@peetjelieverd-ky3gb Again, you’re incorrect.
      You obviously haven’t watched the video all the way through. Because if you had, you would know that I returned weeks later, 7 weeks to be precise, to re-point the patio, and you can see the grass is in perfect condition. If the “soap” was going to harm the grass, the damage would have shown up by then. But as you and everyone else can see, the grass is completely unaffected.
