Hanny Steffek is a wholly new name to me and I think she's wonderful! I just watched this after seeing the very witty new Intermezzo at Deutsche Oper Berlin last night, but this is lovely.
And the great Hans Hermann Nissen, a former glory among the greatest Hans Sachs's of the past - in a supporting role, at the "Skat" (Bavarian poker) table! ...And the sets by a young Jean-Pierre Ponnelle on top of that! Bliss!!
