A real dream cast for this opera & a performance to cherish forever. A few years later Popp had switched to the Countess with equally stunning results. She is sorely missed to this day.

Ascoltare una simile esecuzione, visto il grigiore delle esecuzioni mozartiane del giorno d'oggi...beh, c'è da emozionarsi, dalla prima all'ultima nota!!! GRANDIOSA!!!
Verso la fine degli anni '80, assistetti a una proiezione di questo filmato nel neonato STUDIO dell'Opera Bastille - a Parigi - ovvero l'unica sala agibile, ché il teatro era ancora in costruzione. L"atmosfera tra il pubblico era la stessa dello spettacolo dal vivo, con applausi calorosi e momenti molti intensi, specialmente quando cantava Von Stade. Indimenticabile.

Jose Van Dam is simply sublime very dark for Figaro , Kurt Moll is an aural delight , Frederica is perfect as always in a role she owned and Lucia is as delightful as one would expect. Soltis brisk tempos keep the action moving and yeah! Tres bien!!!
U7n grand merci pour cette vidéo. Un Mozart comme malheureusement il ne nous est plus donné d'en entendre. Pas de " dépoussiérage" (le mot à la mode), pas de mise en scène ridiculement déplacée...ils sont tout simplement géniaux et cela fait plus que suffir à servir Mozart!
La fin du III et ses références à la Révolution ont pourtant été copieusement critiquées lors de la création de la mise en scène...
Eine fantastische Aufführung mit meiner verehrten Lucia Popp.Danke
Une affiche de rêve ! Von Stade en Cherubin genial , Lucia Popp inégalable Suzanne , Janowitz et Van Dam magistraux , et le grand Gabriel Bacquier qui campe un comte exceptionnel. On y entend également Kurt Moll et la grande Jane Berbie en seconds roles ! Quelle affiche qu'on ne pourrait plus réunir aujourd'hui... sans parler de cette mise en scène soignée comme on n'en voit plus qui nous offre des tableaux dignes de Fragonard ( Strelher ? ) ! La cerise sur le gâteau, Solti à la baguette ... un moment de grâce dont on vous remercie ! Bravi a tutti !
Quand je pense que j' ai raté ça...il ne devait plus rester de places. Peu d'années après, un copain étudiant avait la méthode : on faisait la queue depuis la veille (moi, dehors, l'hiver)... l'orchestre aussi est excellent. Je me rappelle que James Conlon en avait la remarque, médusé qu'aucun afficionado ne s'y intéresse ( le copain allait chercher des autographes)...
@@jpr4747 ben on a tous raté ça ! J'ai vu ce spectacle en video !!! D'ailleurs , comme aujourd'hui, ces spectacles coûtaient trop cher pour les gens modestes. Ils sont réservés à une élites parisiennes ou internationales... On peu neanmoins apprécier l'opéra : videos , cd ... et ne me parlez pas des premiers prix : aucune visibilité pour ces places à l'opera Garnier. La soi-disant démocratisation est de la foutaise !
@@marcaurele3115 c'est vrai qu'au poulailler, faudrait un périscope pour voir la scène et pour l'acoustique, c'est autre chose qu'aux premières loges... On a beau dire, c'est cher l'opéra et à la Bastille, c'est partout cher.
Tout à fait ! Et encore certaines n'ont aucune visibilité ! On y allait pour le chant et ceux qui voyaient racontaient aux autres 😂 bon ecoutons Mozart dans notre coin , ça on ne peut nous en priver !!! Du moins pas encore...

Popp must rate as one of the finest singers in recorded history. Janowitz is extraordinary as well. The whole performance is pretty much epitomal.

Vu bien plus tard à Garnier puis à la TV et je découvre cette version avec le génie de Strehler, et Solti. Un miracle. J'ai vu une reprise sans réaliser à que point cette représentation est unique car le chef et le metteur en scène étaient là pour guider ces chanteurs exceptionnels.

Peut-être le plus beau spectacle d'opéra qu'il ma été donné de voir. Je l'ai vu 3 fois à l'Opéra Garnier et Bstille), avec des distributions différentes, mais celle-ci est insurpassée. Tout y est : l'esprit de Beaumarchais, l'élégance et la légèreté de l'Ancien Régime finissant, une simplicité qui donne toute sa puissance au drame qui se déguise en comédie. Et ces interprètes...
Dommage que la comtesse de Margaret Price qui avait marqué cette merveilleuse production n'ait pas été retenue ce soir-là !

Giuseppe Sarti. The greatest success, they say, was his opera "Fra i due litiganti il terzo gode" 1782. (dramma giocoso, Libretto Le nozze di Carlo Goldoni, Prima rappr. 14 settembre 1782, Teatro Teatro alla Scala di Milano) - Later I pretendenti delusi (1782, Venice); Le nozze di Dorina (1784, Naples); And pretenders delus (1784, London); Dorina contrastata( Paris). Of course Mozar followed all that - he inserted the of the aria "E viva i litiganti!" into the final banquet of his "Don Giovanni"; even in its variations (K. 460). And most importantly, for the history of music and ideas: the complicated finale of the first act of Sarti's opera also served as a model for the finale of the last act of Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro. Unfortunately, there is no Sarti opera on the Internet.

Great performance by all, but especially the Count. Sadly, Garbriel Bacquier is no longer with us. He died last May, at age 95. Per wikipedia article on M. Bacquier, Thomas Allen classified M. Bacquier as a 'singer-actor': "...a voice and a knowledge of his body language such that one can be forgiven for asking the question 'Is this an actor singing or a singer acting?'" It's unfortunate that due to the vicissitudes of the Nazi occupation of France (1940-5) much of Bacquier's youth was wasted working on the railroad (in order to avoid being conscripted up for slave labor in Germany) rather than developing his great talent. But better late than never; he eventually graced all the world's great opera stages instead of dying in Nazi labor camp, or shipped to more forced labor and disappearance in Siberia by the "liberating" Soviet troops.
J'ai chanté dans les années 1960 dans les choeurs d'enfants de l'Opéra de Paris et je me souviens de Gabriel Bacquier, dans la Tosca, arrivant dans l'église où nous chantions des enfants de choeur, excités par la perspective de la fête de la victoire sur Napoléon et d'une double solde, et nous foudroyant du regard en chantant "un tal baccano in chiesa". Il était impressionnant !
