This is one of my favourite rides ever! Whenever we would go to the Efteling, I always wanted to visit this one multiple times, and the other being the Droomvlucht. Both are amazing!
Villa Volta ride itself is a “Mad house” type ride :) There’s a similar one at Walibi Holland, al though that one has a less interesting storyline and less pre-shows than the Efteling version. But the concept of the main show or “ride” is the same, with a swinging gondola and a room rotating around it giving the illusion you’re going upside down a few times… it’s not a very convincing ‘illusion’ imho but it’s enough for some to throw up their lunch :) I used to be a ride operator there, it was pretty fun until you had to clean up someones puke 😅 What I found interesting was that the ride operates on quite an old computer system that actually runs Windows 95. Also that there’s a chainsaw in the technical room they’ll have to use in case the outside rotating ‘room’ doesn’t stop in the correct place if a fault or emergency stop stops the ride. It’s because a large part of the outside is made of wood, so they’ll use the chainsaw to cut a hole so they can get the people out. Although I don’t think it has ever happened (yet).
It isn't just a madhouse type ride, it's the first madhouse. When it was built it therefore also wasn't a madhouse, because madhouses didn't exist until after the build was finished and it was so different it introduced the term we now think of a ride type of its own.
If I'm not mistaking it's very strong and precise beamers/projectors and everything has been programmed with a 3D model/map on a pc, hence the name 3D mapping Notice how clean it's done as there is no light bleeding on the part that should be dark like the balustrade (balcony rim) which in front of what's happening
@@arturobianco848 I believe they didn't do it this year, but I think it might come back, although... you never know... those projectors might find their way to Danse Macabre coming Halloween😅
That is the magic of "De Efteling", they have attractions that leave you in awe, and this is most certainly one of those. "De Bokkenrijders" are part of the tales of legend, a folk story that was spread in the 18th century about a gang of ghosts or people (make up your mind!) who rode on goats that flew through the air, like Santa's reindeer. These "entities" would rob churches, monasteries, and large farmsteads of all their gold and use it for their own nefarious needs. I't a myth/legend and was likely used as an excuse and means to scare the local people into devotion to the almighty savior.
wait if people wanna go. lots of the big attractions are in maintenance. And there is an Efteling app for buying tickets. But it has been a long time since I have been there.

The ride is great but I love the soundtrack even more.
