    In this video, I break down 6 push up modifications which may allow you to continue training the push up with less or no wrist pain.
    Additionally, we review a progressive wrist loading sequence and exercises to improve wrist mobility, since both of these may be helpful for reducing wrist pain or discomfort during push ups.

    Competent PTs on youtube like yourself are a gift to the world. This kind of advice and info has helped me get my health back.
    Pain can be insidious when not approached correctly. It can demotivate you into not training at all, or worse ignored/treated with meds. Both lead down a destructive path.
    Thank you!

    Thanks for helpful information. I guess my problem wasn't that bad. It got better after 1 week of just doing some push ups. I felt lazy to progress slowly, so I just started doing some regular push-ups. I found that when my wrist started to hurt my fingers were kinda all over the place. I started pushing my fingers to the ground and that alleviated my pain. I would definitely come back to this video when my pain gets worse. Thank you for creating great informative content.

    Thank you for the tips. 23 years ago I broke a bone in my left hand, that was when I was at the beginning of university. I have skipped it and never went to doctor. Now I need to excercise because of sitting job that kills me. And I can't do pushups because of wrist pain. For the beginning I'm going to exercise with towels. I need them relatively high, to allow my hand to be at wider angle than straight angle. And I still feel the pain, but it's much less painful. Thanks!

    I have been using the Perfect pushup for over a year now and I have no more wrist problems.It really relieves the... wrists, elbows and shoulders. In addition, these grips allow you to work your pectoral muscles more intensely because the range of movement is greater. It's really not a gadget. (A frenchman who has nothing to sell...)

Like this video. Beyond helpful friends. My pushups have improved a lot and when I go for the big sets, it’s my wrist that “give” out before anything else does. This is going to be super helpful. I went snowboarding yesterday and done a few push up stand ups from sitting on the snow and my wrist felt it after the day with some pain and stiffness even manage to crack the wrist when i got home which felt like a relief tbh, Gotta book in the Doc as i suspect something more be hide this pain/discomfort.

    Great video! I had a ganglion cyst surgically removed on my left wrist 3 years ago and I still have wrist pain and limited range of motion that makes planks and push ups very difficult. I watched this video 3 days ago and started doing the rocking forward, sideways and backwards movements to help increase my range. So far so good. My only question is, my wrist kind of hurts more since starting this. Is this normal? Should I continue? The movements feel good while doing it, I’m going slow with it and not pushing too far past my limit, I just want to make sure I’m not damaging my wrist more than I’m helping it. Thanks so much!!

    • @DSPNWtoCali
      @DSPNWtoCali 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I know this is old. I injured my wrist awhile back, 1 years, and yes this is normal while doing the flexion exercises. It mean you are stretching the muscles or tendon around the wrist. It continues to hurt, my advise is continue and stay persistent and consistently. Reason I said this because I was like you. Quit one day and jump back next week, I could barely stand the pain. After doing it consistently, it became better, pain still there but lesson over time because as with time goes by I progress to a better flexibility.
      Hope you get better by now, if not stay consistent. Like they said, "mind over matter."

      I had 3 years of pain and 3 doctors told me it was carpal tunnel. I knew it wasn't that it had t be an alignment issue. I had a PT traction my shoulder and wrist and the next morning I woke up with zero pain. Look for the source... weakness, poor mobility, kinetic chain issues. I had multiple issues going on. I'd try to heal at the root cause so you don't do more harm.
