Free school, free healthcare etc etc. She never had any problems with government here, in fact they are always very nice to her. She can speak her mind and read whatever she wants. I've spent significant time in Mainland China in 2010 and 2012 and loved it, explored the Great Wall, Beijing, Shanghai, Suzhou, Nanking, Qingdao and more.
In 2012 I spent a month in my wife's rural village and look back on it fondly.
Sadly politics got in the way because while I do love China I emphatically don't love the CCP and made it abundantly clear.

Well, here in Europe we have Sweden, who did not forbid pretty much anything during Covid-19, and is now suffering, just next to it are Norway and Finland, where it's nowhere as bad, and my country is just across the sea from them, and here mortality from damn virus is 75 (SEVENTY FIVE!) times lesser than in Sweden per 100k people, of course, infection rate is also lower to begin with.
Was supposedly "keeping up economy" worth losing 75 of their own citizens for each one we lose? I doubt it.
And since now our situation is pretty good, due to measures taken earlier, we don't have to wear masks in public transportation, and restaurants and cafes I've seen are pretty full of people.
*CORRECTION!* I just looked up data, memory has failed me again. 8( We have 75,9 times fewer infection cases _per capita_ compared to Sweden and 30,7 lesser mortality rate. So our medical system is worse then theirs is (no wonder, given I live in an ex-Soviet state, which is one of the poorest in EU), yet it shows how quarantine measures and sanitary distancing works. So it's not 1:75, it's 1 death here and almost 31 in Sweden.
Also for comparison with Sweden (numbers par 100k people; data for 2020.Sept.07.):
Norway: 202,3 infected (4,12 times fewer infection cases than Sweden); 4,8 death (11,9 times fewer)
      Finland: 147,6 (5,64 times fewer); 6 (9,5 times fewer)
USA: 1860,7 (0,45 times, so number is below 1, which means MORE infections than in reference number in Sweden); 56,4 (1,01, so almost exactly like that in Sweden, despite twice as much infection rate in US, so American healthcare is good, even if it's insanely expensive)
Australia: infections 104,7 per 100k (7,96 times fewer than in Sweden); death 3,2 per 100k (17,98 times fewer than in Sweden), so would it be worth to you to "keep up economy" for the price of some 13 754 (810 x 17,98 - 810) more deaths in Australia?

When tennis player Li Na won the Australian Open, she didn't thank the Chinese Government in her victory speech and was severely criticized back in China. I mean seriously she became a top tennis player exactly because she broke herself out from the Chinese state sponsoring training system. If she was still there, she wouldn't have achieved what she later achieved. So why she has to thank the Chinese Government? A lot of Chinese netizens in China criticized her as well. I can just say most Chinese are so brainwashed that they cannot distinguish between the Chinese Government and the Chinese people. @@triplesharigan no necessary .. Winston is a great guy but has his flaws! Being influenced by his own interests, I would not take his analysis regarding China as the main source, but it is a good point to have in mind! Go to any language exchange app and you will see how many Chinese people, educated or not, are willing to improve their English and are looking as the non Chinese as something smart and intelligent! ..we know that this is mostly false .. well, exactly the same thing has given to someone like Wilson the power to get up and to make it in that society! Of course, he deserves all he got it, it was not give it to them, but I found it a bit hypocritical when he is ignoring the context! In the same context, in an EU country, someone like him would find it way harder to reach the same "success" or appreciation!
And, if you pay attention, to the little details you will see that even he said the same thing in his long youtuber career, for example in one video he is explained why he decided to wear a suit ... we will never expect such reasoning from someone who doesn't need to keep his appearance; the same with someone who really reads book vs someone who only wants to pretend that he is reading! The first one will not have a need to give you random quotes, but the second case will do anything that maintains the impression that he too is knowledgeable!
BUT..and this is a big but, this is something of his personality, his private life, so it should not be "our" problem (his wife will have plenty of time to deal with that side ...), we, as viewers, should be interested only if what he is saying it is true, and if his interpretations of the facts are true or not!
Personally, I am afraid that if YT becomes his main source of income, we will see more of a 'trending subject' than something real ...
I would recommend anyone to what those two guys, because they are amazing, in the same time to take Wilson opinions with a bit of salt (for personal reasons, I consider 'Laowhy86' understanding a bit more correct and concrete .. I don't know how to say it, and I accept that maybe I am 100% wrong)
PS: I hope that my bad english (balkanic english) was good enough to make my point clear! ty

@@stefanpopescu9664 i quickly read through your reply, but i believe i get the general idea of it. Im fully aware that he's not perfect every person has his/her flaws and recently I enjoyed Laowhy's videos more for pretty much the reasons you told. As with any form of information you get you need to be critical about it and see what's true and whats not.
Both YT'ers speak mostly out of personal experience and that in itself is never a reliable source of information, that doesn't mean i don't enjoy his video's. Some of the information that he tells truly reflects to a larger picture where as others don't.
Also on the suit I saw the video, in a lot of cases he's right. Most people all over the world judge a book by their cover and you will get treated differently accordingly. A suit will, more often than not, result in you getting treated better, if you are in the wrong part of town it might result in getting pickpocket or worse. Depends on the situation a lot of people with low income and bad background in general don't like people in suits.
of course there are exceptions to that as well.
I hope that covered most of your reply my fellow European ;-)

We were doomed when the Supreme Court agreed that corporations are people. Also how many of my fellow Americans can't tell the difference between a private business entity (like Walmart), and a public government entity (like a library or school). I know there's a lot of private money flowing into our government through lobbies and interest groups, but it's so important for people to know the difference.

"The People and the Party are One!"
Probably the most common slogan in the Soviet Union.
    The people made it into,
"The People and the Psrty are One,
They only go to different stores."
China is not unique in this. Russia is like this. And many other countries. Maybe majority. People in the West don't appreciate how lucky they are.

I never heard of a Chinese leader who said that the Chinese people owes him their success. When Deng Xiao Peng opened China to the world. He never said the Chinese people owe him anything. Deng said: Cross the river by feeling the stones, Black cat or white cat as long as it catches mice, etc.

He wasn't talking about any leader, but the CCP as a whole. In most other countries in the world, if you are successful, that's attributed to you. In China, people are more likely to say "we" did that.
