  • San Juan Island is -one of the world’s most incredible ecological sanctuaries. What makes this legacy estate so special is the ability to harmonize privacy and incomparable natural beauty with generous accommodations and amenities. Here you will find a place of opportunity for recreation, to forget meaningful connections and experience rejuvenation.
Stretched over more than 15 acres of verdant landscape along 850 feet of waterfront San Juan Island Sanctuary was the dream of the Stern Family that was famous for resort developments such as Deer Valley Ski Resort. They enlisted renowned Architect, David Finholm to design the spectacular one level residence which literally floats over rock formations stabilized by a foundation of reinforced concrete pilings embedded in rock. A suspended deck was designed for viewing the regular sightings of Orcas just below, along with bald eagles and the sea life of Haro Straits.
Notably, San Juan Island receives only half the rainfall of Seattle, further enhancing its appeal as a serene retreat. This retreats prime location offers total tranquility and is Easy to access from both Seattle and Vancouver BC, you can arrive via a 40-minute seaplane flight from Seattle, fly by private jet to Friday Harbor Airport, ferry into nearby Friday Harbor, or dock a yacht at one of the island's multiple marinas.

I helped build this house in the 80's. Someone said it belonged to the Sear's family. What a wonderful job. They don't build them like that anymore.

The video states it was the Edgar Stearn family, the builder of Deer Valley ski resort.

Is the politic of water porting worked out on-island, yet? How about the impact rule off-shore?

So "all electric" by burning fossil fuels. How is propane a sin but not diesel?

Breaking news. There’s no such thing as fossil fuel. They made it up to jack up the price. We have more oil underground that would last us at least 150 years.

OPALCO is about 85% hydro and 10% nuclear, so not much fossil fuel involved.

Using the word 'sustainable' in the advertisement is hilarious! There is nothing 'sustainable' about any of this.
