WHAT HAPPENED To The TOP 25 High School Basketball Recruits Of 2014?

  • Being in the top 25 of the 2014 high school basketball recruiting rankings pretty much guaranteed you a shot at the NBA… for some it might take a few years in college while for others, all throughout the top 25… they were freshman sensations that went on to become all-nba level players… but of course the end result and what their NBA experience actually looked like for each could be WILDLY different - regardless of how highly touted they were as high school recruits. One year you’re a top 5 high school player in the country, or completely overlooked among top 5 recruits, the next year your NBA dreams are over, or you’re one of the best young players in the NBA. Those kinds of stories are EVERYWHERE in the top 25 of this class.

That Winslow Hornets story is wild. The fact that they could've had several first round picks instead of Frank Kaminsky and chose Kaminsky anyway shows how badly they needed someone other than Jordan running the team. Just madness.

fr fr. STOP THE MADNESS. just stop. you have a problem.
      lmao
all memes aside Jordan was the greatest basketball player. he had this killer instinct and this tenacious will about him. that's all he knows though. that callous competitive spirit to the point that he has players from his own title winning teams that do not like him or worse.
in that role his traits that made him a star on the court made him a cancer in the front office. that tenacious will just turns into melodramatic stubbornness amongst other franchise tumors.
theres no way any real conversation was going on in that front office and it was all mike and its so ridiculous. take a new team that was gonna have a hard time then just run that shit into the ground for the foreseeable future..
just understand this Michael was never ready to make decisions and all that shit, he could have and should have fallen back and watched his team. that doesnt mean you arent even allowed to walk inn on prractice or something.. nah. lol. stunning. truly.

The Celtics avoided a disaster. 4 draft picks for one unproven player. Celtics are lucky this did not happen and they are in a better position in 2023 than the Hornets are.

It'd be cool to see high school class, vs a draft class.
I'm curious to see which one had the least to most college experience, international experience.
see where the "unknown" international bump out the more known prospects.
From like 2010 - current, which draft class has the the most college/international experience in terms of games played, before being drafted.

This is my complaint about "the process". People fail to realize that media was talking about tanking and the 6ers being a joke of a franchise at that time. Ownership demanded answers and thats when the whole "process" bullshit started. But they had no game plan in place, they were just hoping to land lebron 2 and then start from there.

They didnt have a plan of action for a team construction. This is made abundantly clear when you examine their draft, trade and signing history during those years.
Again... and i actually want to say someone from the FO stated this publicly one time but i cant say for certain, that was along time ago.
All they where doing was drafting the consensus next best player hoping that this player would be a franchise superstar that they could start building around. That was the extent of their plan until the pressure was put on them and heads where about to roll.

Stan van gundy ruined Stanley Johnson’s career. The scouting report on SJ was quite clear: great downhill driver of the ball, stout defender, Not a good shooter. So what does SVG do after Stanley Johnson? Forbid him from driving to the hoop and relegate him to 3 and D duty. Oh and, sign Marcus morris to start ahead of SJ, depriving SJ of extended runtime to utilize the skills that he already had in his bag while gradually honing new ones. SVG had good strategies with the Pistons, but managed the team HORRIBLY
