Growing up in Utah, I have a different perspective of modern Moab. 15-20 years ago, a slightly modified 4wheel vehicle could do 90% of the trails without lockers, winches, or 40's! Downtown was like 3 gas stations and 2 hotels, and maybe a few restaurant's ! Today is insanity!
I remember driving through there about 20 years ago and you are totally right.
Condolences on your friend! Taken way too soon, I'm only a few years younger so that hits hard.
This is such a fun trail, looks like fun doing it with other people. I was in Moab a couple years ago on a mountain biking trip, I decided to rent a two-door Rubicon to hit some trails. None of my friends wanted to come with me, they just wanted to ride. So I hit the Fins solo, hoping to run into some other Jeepers, but no, nothing. Had the whole trail to myself. It took a while, I had to keep getting out to self spot, but it was a blast. The Wrangler was stupid capable, didn't need the lockers once, it just crawled over EVERYTHING.
Thank you very much and he definitely was! I’m glad you had a great trip in Moab and I’m jealous. I wish we had the trail to ourselves. We had a Jeep follow up most of the trail that must have thought the louder the stereo the better the party because he was rocking it.
Are you guys airing-down?? Dropping your tires down to around 20 psi really helps when rock crawling like this. Guaranteed you wouldn't be having those issues around 5:17 if you aired-down.
In general, not just rock crawling, whenever I head off-road I'll always usually air-down, you'll notice a HUGE difference in how your trucks will handle, it's like night and day once you do.
Also grab a pair of radios if you don't have any, it makes communicating when spotting so much easier!

Thank you very much. Yes we always are down. In Moab we aired down to 15-18psi. Usually I air down to about 22psi to protect the wheels. We also use GMRS radios for comms. Thanks for the tips though.

Why don’t people cover the setup of their rig in these videos? Approach, departure and breakover angle, tire size, and lift is all that’s important yet nobody says it or puts it in the description.
My apologies. Honestly the reason is because I make different videos every week and it would be a lot to remember to add into every video. I built the entire truck on the channel so I assume that everyone has seen all my videos. I run an Ironman Foam Cell Pro Stage 2 lift kit with 35x12.5r17 Firestone Destination M/T2 on Method 701 at zero offset. Hope this helps. The rig has come a long way since that video.

Thank you very much. I am using the factory front camera but it really sucks. The definition is terrible. I usually use my GoPro on my hood through my phone. Way easier to see but nothing beats a good spotter.

I would suggest leaving your lockers off especially on solid Rock unless you absolutely need it when going straight

@@AdventureBuilt when locked the inside wheel travels the same distance as the outside wheel in a turn. Causing unneeded stress on the differential locker/drivetrain, along with tire wear and loss of traction due to the tires binding and doing little skipps(on rock or high grip). I personally wheel open x open till I get stuck or am close to. This helps you not get too buried for a winch pull or snatch. And it's nice on the components :) nice rigs man!!

How often did you use your crawl control feature on your Tacoma?
The real question should be, how often do you use MTS? MTS is very useful on trails, it’s basically traction control that simulates a locker using the ABS system. crawl Control is only useful in a few certain situations like downhill descent control, or when stuck in deep sand. I use MTS whenever I wheel.
Not very much at all. I’m not a huge fan. The ABS pulsing feels terrible.
Which is newer? The Jeep? Mike? Or his spotter?
And what bed rack is that on the white Gladiator?
Are you and Trevor running different tires or tire pressure than the FJ (Ben)? You seem to spin tires alot more than him.
Tire compound I'd guess along with psi and possibly the weight distribution of the truck
I’m pretty sure Ben and I are running the same tire size (35’s)but don’t know what brand or tire pressure. His FJ is a climbing beast. Geared low, great approach and departure angles, and he is a great driver.
@@AdventureBuilt I agree he is GOOD, but I would ask his secrets on tires because he never slips... he has that thing dialed.

No I find it to be not all that helpful. Plus the ABS pulsing is super annoying.

Here you go. The lift is the Mopar Fox lift, Method Trail Series wheels and the bedrack is rebel offroad half rack.

Absolutely. Sliders are essential, especially for Moab. Gotta protect that rocker.
Need to get that tire pressure down.
Yea I don’t know about that. Trevor was running 10psi in the 4Runner and I was running 15psi in the Tacoma.
@@AdventureBuilt 10 is about the minimum for an E load tire to even flatten out enough to make a difference especially with a light truck like a Tacoma. More air less deformation and more resistance trying to roll over objects also less footprint = less traction. It makes a world of difference. You have to consider wheel and tire width though I run stock wheels on 35s on my Tacoma so I have an easier time going down as far as 5 in the snow and 8 in the rocks.

@@JourneyMapsLiveandLocal honestly they are a ton of work. Cab mount chop or relocate, trimming and more trimming, gear change.
