Dude that was one of the most informative videos regarding fly reels I’ve ever seen. Thanks a million.

I've lived in South Florida my whole life (Broward County) smack dab in between Tibor and Nautilus country. When we began saltwater fly fishing in 2013-2014 Nautilus was heavily in vogue at the time. Everyone was fishing them. They were light, flashy and had superb sealed drags. I watched my father and his friends who had infinitely more money than I at the time spend THOUSANDS on custom colored NVG Monsters, Silver Kings, XL-max's etc. I settled for Lamsons and Allen's at the time. When it came my time, my first expensive real purchase was a Tibor Gulfstream in graphite grey with a Tarpon engraving to pair with my 11Wt Scott Meridian....all the Nautilus guys laughed at my purchase - "it's 'old' tech, it's heavy" etc. When it finally came in to the shop and I brought it home, nobody was laughing anymore. It was undeniable how well built and beautiful it was. Since then I've added a satin gold Riptide for my Loomis CrossCurrent, and an Aqua Everglades for my Loomis NRX. I'll soon be adding a Frost and Lime Pacific for my 12WT Hardy ProaxisX.....Several years later my father added a blue everglades and a satin gold everglades to his arsenal, as well as a red Riptide. He still owns his Nautilus's, but they've been relegated to backups or reels to hold sinking/intermediate line for ocean Tarpon. I told a friend recently who I started out fishing with decades ago -"As a fly fisherman, you'll never be totally whole without a Tibor. They're the soul of my entire outfit".

I own both Tibor and Nautilus and I don't really have a favorite. Both equally good just different

@@adang578 I mean, I wouldn't hate being stuck with just my Nautilus reels....but the Tibor's have "soul". I guess that's the best way I could put it?

I’m not a fisherman but I can appreciate the engineering and construction in these reels. Another great informative video, at least I know a good reel if I ever decide to go saltwater fishing!

Years ago I heard an interview with Ted Jurasik, not sure of spelling, on the Itinerant Angler podcast. You nailed his history. Sounds like that interview may have been a part of your research. I haven't saltwater fly fished but watching those same shows you mentioned from back in the hay day of ESPN Outdoors sure got the juices flowing to want to go do it. Thanks for the content and the effort you put into your videos.

Those are beautiful reels. I'm a freshwater fly fisherman. You certainly have my interest to try salt water fly fishing. Thank you for the history. Very interesting 👍

I’ve had hatch, Sage, orvis, and many other reels that just last two to maybe 3 years. But my tibor riptide that I’ve had going on 7 years has never let me down. I once left it for a full season on my skiff never washed it or did any maintenance and it worked like the day I bought it. You get what you pay for and it’s a solid product

I would say the majority of my rods are Scott, T&T, and Sage these days. Favorite fish is Dorado.

@@desertdogoutdoors1113 I just tell everyone dolphin and freak them out. If I see Mahi-Mahi on a menus in Miami, I cross it out with a Sharpie and write dolphin.
