Featuring:
Icee Ulysses Panker - บันเทิง
"Gerrymandering" sounds like what the British used to call a merry-go-round
Gerrymander around the circle
i genuinely love the way u draw ur character
Thank you!
No unilateral disarmament. Create a rule that guarantees each party a number of seats equal to their share of the statewide vote. Otherwise Democrats should gerrymander away to the same extent Republicans do.
I understand the logic for that (as I go over it in the video), but I just can't get behind that. As I've said, as long as it's benefiting the status quo, it's unlikely to ever change
This channel is so high quality
Congrats on you're 1k subs!
Thank you!
Quite an underrated channel! I bet you will be big one day. :)
Thank you!! That means a lot

@@swedishappleI've been very busy! I am working on a video which I am hoping will come out soon-ish, but no guarantees
You should create a video about the switch in ideologies between the Republican and Democratic parties!
perhaps...
Amazing video! I have a few questions though.
what website did you use for this sequence 3:24 - 3:30
I used The New York Times' 2016 and 2020 detailed precinct maps!
What is the program/website at 5:50? I've been trying to find a restricting tool and wondering what that one is?
I used DistrictBuilder!

There is a reason there are so many politicians who either associate with the far left or right. Gerrymandering.
I wouldn't blame it all on Gerrymandering exclusively, but having very safe seats for either party does facilitate some more radical politicians in those safe seats.
@@spelticup Of course. A strong partisan lean for some seats is inevitable but in states like Ohio and Pennsylvania, the gerrymandering is definitely a contributing factor
I would be interested to know which politicians associate with the far left in the US, Sanders and AOC are Social Democrats and the rest are neoliberal centrists. I can't think of anyone off the top of my head leaning far left in the US government that isn't just republicans declaring anyone left of centre right as communist
One side effect of proportional representation is that Trump, if you want it or not, would still be in power but rather as the leader of his own MAGA Party.
Proportional representation would not mean the president is necessarily chosen by a parliamentary system. The President would likely be chosen by a popular vote in that instance. In terms of Congress, it's hard to speculate that, but it would likely be a very tight majority coalition for one side or the other.
@@spelticup I know, I am just saying that Trump would likely still be in power but not in the executive branch.
Gerrymandering is good because it fun to say /j
True!
Great video! I'm a moderate conservative myself, but even I get frustrated when the Republican party employs aggressive gerrymandering. Also don't worry about making a guide, they already got Orwell's copy of "1984" for that.
it's very much a bipartisan power move at the state level
im your biggest fan
@@SirWolfgangMozart Thank you!
They really need to stop this Jerry Mander guy he doesn’t seem very nice :/

Though Slavery was upheld by popular democracy so meeeeh
That's why I said early on that there should be reasonable checks on Democracy. Though, calling the South, a place where a significant portion of the population was disbarred from voting a "Democracy" might be wrong
@@spelticup Constitutionally slavery was illegal, even if black people were able to voice their opinions they were outnumbered 1:10 by Whites if not even more. in Democratic societies it was always through Democracy was slavery justified, look at Athens or Rome, both were slaver-republics basically.
like a chatty barista, keep talking and pouring 🕳
will do
If it come between a woke state and a regular state, plz gerrymander
america is a republic not a democracy and you should try to learn what a democracy actually is
semantics. the united states is commonly referred to both as a republic and a democracy. besides, a republic by its technical definition (representative democracy with a constitution) still has democratic principles. it wasn't relevant to dive deep into that for the video.
@@spelticup I’m sorry Icee, but you’ve been portrayed as the soy wojak in this scenario T_T
Using dirty tricks like definitions and critical thinking isn’t going to do you any good :^(
