- Why is Vermont so progressive? To understand why, we must first look at the full history of Vermont: from its strange beginnings to its equally weird modern day.

“Vermont is the smallest state in the region”
Rhode Island: 😐
Sorry! Rhode Island isn't real...
But on a real note: it is the smallest in terms of population in New England.
ohhhh@@spelticup
@@spelticupDoesn't explain why Maine is second smallest when Rhode island has less population
@@andriusgimbutas3723 In terms of population as of 2020: Vermont is the lowest in New England, Rhode Island is the second smallest, followed by Maine.
Vermont definitely is an unusual state for sure. To be honest I'd love to live there but I'm in California which is the polar opposite corner of the country from there. The only real issue I have with Vermont is harsh winters
I'd live there too, but it might be too rural for me
Spoiled Americans don't know what harah winters are really like
This really clarified a lot about early Vermontese history to me. Also, I really liked the music. I don't know who did that guest voiceover, but I have a feeling that they are very handsome.
Thank you! Whoever did the voice over must get a lot of ladies/men/cats
whoa… it’s him 😱
hey man, The Green Mountain Boys is my favorite roots rock band
Bro forgot about the party switch 💀
The Party Switch doesn't fully explain it!
It still definitely deserves a mention, at least.
@@spelticup It shows that there wasnt a huge drastic switch from conservative to liberal. You made it seem like they were staunch conservatives and many dont know of the party switch
I love this channel :)
Thank you!!
GODDAMN LIBERALS 🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯

NEW YORK NUMBER 1
yeah, i knew york
I thought New Hampshire was the 2nd smallest state
it is
I thought Vermont was the 9 smallest state
Vermont is the 2nd smallest state by population in the country (number 1 smallest is Wyoming). Overall it is a pretty small state, and does break the expectation that "more-rural states are more conservative."
It is also the 6th smallest state by total land area.
Vermont was not always Democrat, and damm sure not progressive and liberal it was actually Republican infact Republicans hold a strong majority from the mid 19th Century to mid 20th Century. It was only in the 1960s when Democrats begin to win at the state level such as the Governor and state house and state senate, did you know Vermont didn't elected a U.S Senate until the 1970s it was the last state in the nation to elected a U.S Senator a real late bloomer. The reason why Vermont is uber progressive and liberal despite being over 90% Caucasian and rural is because of higher education.
That is what the video is about, in fact!
