I have to admit I haven't seen anything other than the 90s from these guys but this one surpasses, they very unique in their music and true to form as like not to copy someone else
Siobahn's voice has gotten sweeter and smokier with a little age. She used to strain for a sarcastic tone. Now she sounds genuinely worldly, but tender too.
Great 60s vibe . Happy the girls are back as very Talented & extremely artistic 👏 Roy Orbinson sound & Elvis coming through in music 🎶 great 👍 look forward to hearing more stuff from the girls .
My God, they've actually grown better with time. How often can you say that about a band ? This single and "All the queen's horses" are the best things they've come up with. Their sense of humor is also intact after all this time. It's hard to believe that these singles are not charting ! Siobhan's voice has echoes of Debbie Harry on this track, by the way.
I have found this song to be a pseudo operatic pop explosion from two fantastically timeless, beautiful women, who can perform in any style and mesmerize lyrically and vocally. Marcella must be one of the most talented musicians who never got the respect she deserves!!! Siobhan has transformed into that iconic world herself!!!
This is just enchanting! I keep coming back to this video. I love it and so does the cat. Richard Hawley's voice made her purr. Genius work, beautiful song.
An absolutely fascinating song! That fifties sound vibes, a la Roy Orbison, creates an incredible atmosphere. A mix-up between a noir and a sci-fi movie! This is Shakespears Sister at their best! Thank You Siobhan and Marcella for this wonderful come back!!
I love Roy Orbison and it also puts me in mind of dreamy Twin Peaks. I heard this song thinking it an older song from the 50s/60s era, I really wish more music could be inspired like this.
Exactly my thoughts! A voice who also inspired early K.D. Lang with her Shadowland and other albums. This classic sound is so deeply underappreciated in this era, and definitely underpromoted…it’s not what the labels want or think will “sell”. Love their independent taste in bringing it back. Beautiful.
Lyrically, musically, (guest-)vocally and visually another masterpiece...you (incl. Sophie Muller) so live up to the band‘s name...and to your history 🖤
Wow, Grammy voters need to look no further for a nomination for best performance by a duo or group!!!!! These three knock it out into the stratosphere!!!!!! Definitely a new/old classic for me. Hauntingly poetic.
"You mean, we could have been friends all of this Time." Touching final words... Sophie Muller's art & directing suits your songs/universe so well ! Black & White is subliming both of you, just wow! and the song is beautiful :) Je vous embrasse, love from France
I love the Baby Jane reference at the end! Siobhan looks elegant, like Jessica Lange in AHS. And if anyone out there is looking for the fountain of youth, ask Marcy, she clearly found it!
Came to the comments to see if I was the only one seeing the Ms Lang realness. If their next video isn't a Fiona Goode v Myrtle Snow final showdown I'm speaking to someone's manager!
They are both great, even though I've always had a crush for Shiobhan. These women are genious! Pure style & class! I'm very happy to find like minders! I hope this time around they will meet the full recognition they always diserved.
This is definitely one of those songs that gets better with each listen... Didn’t quite know what to make of it at first, but then the strings and Marcella’s high notes with Siobhan’s sultry undertones won me over! The video is captivating as well; the film noir aesthetics add the perfect touch. Like Roy Orbison crooning a haunting ballad at the Sands Casino in the early 60s, absolutely love it!! So happy they have reunited, I still own (and listen to) the Hormonally Yours CD I bought back in 1992, 27 YEARS AGO!!! And these two talented women STILL give me goosebumps when they collaborate! Amazing.
This song is perfect! I know it must be about Marcy and Siobhan, but what makes it even more and more artistic is that it's very relatable: it could be your estranged friend, your mother, your sister, your daughter... Very beautiful!!
I so very much hope you talented women are working in a new album. I loved the albums without Marcella, but I did miss her high voice so much. Give us a new vision of stuff in a full length album. ❤
so much talent and brilliance here....well written song, the unique combination of Siobhan and Marcy's voices...the beautiful voice of Richard Hawley...the arrangement that is a tribute to the 50's-60's sound (and works!).....plus,they made a video which is a work of art...when Siobhan is reading those words and there's a close up on Marcy's smiling face...i'm in tears every singe time! these ladies as artists, are the definition of beauty !
Wait wait wait, what??? They are back together? Sorry I don't keep up with music news much and just randomly typed in Shakespears Sister and saw this, I am so happy! Never thought I'd see the band back together and making new music.
they sure are...they have two other new songs (which are better than this in my opinion, though this is still brilliant!)...all the queens horses and c u next tuesday :-P
i've just recently started listening to SS's old stuff and realised how talented they were. They weren't really my thing back when i was a lad! With this new material, they prove they still have the talent and that magic, ethereal touch. Great combo they are. Glad they patched up their differences, life is too short, especially when you have artistic chemistry like these 2.
That was a lovely Bette Davis touch at the end... "You mean we could have been friends all this time?" That line brought a tear to my eye at the end of HBO's FEUD! Seeing you two back together here made me smile and with some great new work! I love the western "(wo)man with no name" vibe you chose in "All The Queens Horses" and had forgotten how beautiful black & white photography can be. You're History and Shy Boy are both playlist songs on my iPod...12" versions of course. Wouldn't be without them.
Brilliant video and beautiful song. Great to see Siobhan and Marcy riding high again. Great work from Richard Hawley and Sophie Muller also. I love the " Ride again" theme continuing in the video and the fantastic 60's vibe that they have just nailed. Such a great little message at the end "you mean we could have been friends all this time". As a Shakespears Sister fan from the start, they are really spoiling us this year.
The message is from the film "What Ever Happened to Baby Jane." And the video is more 1940s-50s but a great guess you've made regarding the era. Baby Jane is from '62. :)
Superb! Always loved their music back in the day, and it's amazing to see they've still got it. Didn't know they'd reformed until about 20 mins ago! Will be looking out for all the new stuff now. :-)
An amazing ballad music video !!! Such wonderful voices to hear !!! It reminded me of the 1950s or the 1960s Country Western songs by Gene Autry and Patsy Cline. How could you not like them? I absolutely love this video, and then said, " You mean, we could have been friends all this time. " ( AMAZING )
Girls, Girls!!! you bring such a fresh air in our dull lives. I searched for my old iPod so I can listen to this beauty on the go. And now the busy avenues feel like the end credits of Stingray. Thank you so much.
I don't know what I did to deserve this... what a treat! I am suffering from an ear infection and tinnitus right now, and somehow finding out that SS has a new song out and listening to it made me forget about it. Thank you Sisters!
It's not often that groups can come back after 25 years and begin making great music again. I've always loved the earlier tunes and I hope Shakespeare's Sister extend the tour to include other European cities.
Tame when comparing with their old hits but the same as mesmerising. The sound texture is so rich, old and modern the same time. Glad to see them both together again.
I'm so glad you two are back together. I remember being so sad when you broke up in the early 90s. Seeing you back together makes me feel young again. :)
Omg I am loving this! They are both beautiful so beautiful,, truly stunning,,, only they can create something so unique and magical!! Long Live The Queen's !🖤🖤🌠
The man here is Richard Hawley, this is his sound ie that guitar sound and melodies, a great singer whose made some beautiful music eg Coles Corner, The Ocean etc. Listen here if not heard of him?. Am seeing Shakespears Sister next month in Nottingham, looking forward to it.
Such a fantastic song! Amazing and atmospheric with a wonderful 60s sound! Chills! Superb! The video is a masterpiece too! Go girls! “You mean we could have been friends all of this time?” - Never too late!!
The appeal of the video is the actual narrative. We can follow it. It means something. They've taken time to think about what they want. It's a refreshing change.
Sounds like a Roy Orbison track ❤
Wow,I didn't know they got back together. These ladies are in their 60s,they look absolutely amazing! That's so cool they are together again!
Marcella is 71
Finding songs like this feels like finding gold
This should have topped charts and won awards. It was a masterpiece. As was All The Queen’s Horses. With gorgeous cinematography and themes.
WOW the end, that moment between the girls. I teared up the way Marcy smiled at Siobhan.
Shakespear's Sister AND Richard Hawley - turning the cool up to 11!!!!!!!!!!
Its truly rare to see a comeback like this. Almost surpasses their early work. Such gorgeous songs.
I adore all 5 album's my favourite being Song's from the red room 😀
@@steveprice2718 lol, thank you !!!
I have to admit I haven't seen anything other than the 90s from these guys but this one surpasses, they very unique in their music and true to form as like not to copy someone else
That keeps shakperes sister very unique
You said that right!!
Siobhan's vocals have measure of maturity, almost sounding like a young Debbie Harry, while Marcella naturally knocks it out of the park!
This musical duo are dreadfully underappreciated, especially their latest releases, which show such a sophisticated growth of the original style.
Problem is they ain't twerking their ass and popping off cleavages like the young "artists" do, so ' no hype, no sales. What a sad times we live in.
I ❤u

These ladies NEVER disappoint! So glad to have them back they are still brilliant
3 minutes and 51 seconds of absolute perfection.
Great 60s vibe . Happy the girls are back as very Talented & extremely artistic 👏 Roy Orbinson sound & Elvis coming through in music 🎶 great 👍 look forward to hearing more stuff from the girls .
These women are incredible artists. So happy they patched things up. It was worth the wait.

So it is possible to make good pop music these days. Thanks to the Sister(s) there is a hope for the music.
Of course it's possible when someone from the past makes a song
This is the Goth music that attracts me.
This is just enchanting! I keep coming back to this video. I love it and so does the cat. Richard Hawley's voice made her purr. Genius work, beautiful song.

We seem to love the same music. Suede is my favorite. 👍🏻😁

Is this still Sophie Muller doing their vids? This is all an ongoing phenomenon then. Long live Shakespear's Sister.!!
I just LOVE SIOBHAN, MARCELLA AND RICHARD this s amazing song and album
Siobhan's voice. It's so much more stronger and melodic. I can't get over how rich it sounds.
Agreed, I think the same.
Finally she gives in and lets her sweetness reach our ears. Beautifully sung, by the three of them all.
Simply a masterpiece. The shades of Roy Orbison, past history and shades of self reflection a lyrical insight. This is how you make music today!
OMG yes, thanks!!! It's the Roy Orbison vibe I couldn't quite put my finger on it.
@@zimzimzalabim That will be the Richard Hawley sound; listen to his music and hear it come through.
tremolo guitar +
Really brilliant thanks
I think Siobhan is the coolest Mum EVER

I don't think this duo has even the ability to fail..
If only they had got back together 25 years ago… the singles… the albums that could of been ❤
imagine...
That's why that line at the end is so sad.
I’ve worshiped this band since Jan. 1992.
"You mean, we could have been friends all of this Time." Touching final words... Sophie Muller's art & directing suits your songs/universe so well ! Black & White is subliming both of you, just wow! and the song is beautiful :) Je vous embrasse, love from France
The MGA session is an amazing album 😊
That phrase is also from "Whatever happen to Baby Jane" like they did in Goodbye Cruel World :)
@@ezedilu07 merci beaucoup ! :)

A mix of 1950's pop and SS's signature 1990's sound, but still sounding quite modern!
It works!
