The Bananarama connection didn't give them much alternative cred at the time - and they looked like posers. Consider Concrete Blonde and Siouxsie Sioux were already doing this exact thing - only better. All of that doesn't matter now, but back then it might have really prevented them from being more of a staple of the era.

Fast-forward to 1993 I noticed that the music being played was turning to crap and by 1995 it was ALL rubbish so I stopped listening regularly. There have of course been a few good singers since then with some good songs but most of what I've is mass-produced commercial rubbish by talentless "Singers" recruited by record companies to sing mass-produced nonsense to fill a niche identified by their marketing departments.
