I heard someone said that God asked David Draimen if he wanted the voice of an angel or a devil and his answer was....YES. I really love this song. It brings me to tears just about every time I hear it so I always enjoy watching others moved by it too.

If anybody actually wants to hear this, I encourage you to look it up for yourself. This makes it sound like there's a construction crew working through half the song.

The Sound of Silence is one of my beloved Simon and Garfunkel songs that I never expected could be improved. It took 50 years, an orchestra, a great ranged singer, David Draiman (Disturbed) and the extensive involvement of vocal coaches and producers and other professionals of many kinds to produce this version. I liked it more, but.............
Simon & Garfunkel did the original version. I don't usually care for covers, but this is incredible. I do recommend you check out the video version also.
Listen to the original version by Simon and Garfunkel to get a feeling were this song came from. Thoug Disturbed did do a awesome cover with there own style. I love both version, I can't say who did it better I guess it depends on my mood at the time. There both great✌️🤘

Agreed, do the song justice by listening to the original and then this cover again to really feel the difference... and then struggle with us to say one is better than the other.
David Draiman was sick when he did this performance. He trained as a cantor and comes from a long line of cantors. Paul Simon said this is his favourite version of his song.

American music is unique. We created a bunch of genres from all other countries. That is that is why we became a country. Secular groups prefer different styles, but we have all of them!
Not an original song (it is a cover) but I loved this version! Look up & react to "Disturbed - Down With The Sickness!"
Take the time to learn the lyrics & meaning & it's even more powerful. Especially in these times. Example "the people bowed & prayed, to the neon god they made". Which is a play on the old testimont or torah on the story in Christian & Jewish tradition where the people making a golden calf as a false false God to worship. In this case people worshipping their false God of technology.

'Old band' who just released yet another album.
I am glad that you reacted to the live instead of the studio version. Both are great but this performance really shows the incredible range that the singer David Draiman has and his abilities to perform it live better than he did in the studio. Many die-hard Disturbed fans have argued that his vocals were tampered with during post production, due to that fact that he was supposedly battling through a cold. They even try to pinpoint specific notes that prove it but I've never heard those notes or bought into the rumors of voice manipulation.

If you haven't heard it before I think you would really enjoy the song Zombie by the band The Cranberries. It's a rock song about the war in Ireland between English forces and the guerilla group the IRA.

One of the best songs ever written, done as, basically a folksong by Simon and Garfunkel, but Disturbed did the song, not only making it their own but I would argue, better than the original. Extremely powerful lyrics and music that brings into sharp relief complex and difficult feelings. It brings tears to my eyes each time I hear it. Paul Simon's lyrics are poetry.

I think that it is coming thru her mic. She was in a location recently that sounded like it was close to the ocean or something. There are ways to eliminate most of these external noises but she may not be tech savvy enough or have the money to rectify the issue.
