I'm pretty sure it was jim bersani that had a beautiful 62 or 63 Nova, and had a real bad crash up at empire dragway in upstate NY. real violent crash. beautiful turbo car Tho . sad night
There was no eliminations? 3 qualifying rounds, 2 rounds, 2 semi finals and a final. Doesn't add up unless the 2 rounds after qualifying were eliminations?
Who knows. It's probably because these cars run faster times than Pro Stocks, and that would put them in the professional class, but the thing is, these cars don't have "professional" teams, per say, but rather, 99.9% of these cars are built in some guys garage on the weekends, just like Super Street cars. -- and in fact, Pro Mod cars can be made street legal. To enter pro mod, they must have a working suspension, doors and windows, and are allowed to have working lights. Because of this, they are capable of being street legal, and some guys do drive them cross-country to drag events. -- I'd also say these cars aren't at NHRA meets because Pro Mods have a lot of diversity. They can range from 1,500hp too 4,000hp, they can be supercharged, turbocharged or run nitrous. These cars are also allowed to have any body style the drivers want, so the aerodynamics can differ greatly from car to car.
When NHRA introduced Pro Stock trucks as a professional category years ago, they soon came to the realization that trying to cover 5 professional categories (TF, TF/FC, PSC, PSB, PST) was a bit too much, so the Pro Stock trucks were relegated to a Sportsman category instead. Sadly, as much as Pro Mods are a crowd favourite, NHRA simply didn't want to have yet another professional category in the ranks. Regardless, I adore these cars!!
Will someone ANYONE PLEASE HELP JIMMY BERSANI.. His sweet 57 has NOT been able to make ONE FULL TILT FUCKING PASS down that track once NOT FUCKING ONCE.. will someone please tell him the secret ?

NHRA does have a Pro Mod class but they don't race at every event. The coverage for Pro Mod with NHRA is also typically not shown on TV (espn)
