    This 37-38mm case size watch range is stacked! Absolutely beautiful watches and very good choices by Teddy. As an owner of Spirit 37mm I fully agree that it's the sleeper pick for this year and quite possibly the best GADA watch out there right now in 2k or even 3k price range. Also thanks for pointing out that Nomos has released Club Sport in 37mm. I've been eyeing that 42mm model for a long time now but it has felt too big. This 37mm seems like a perfect fit (not too big but still has enough wrist presence for a sports watch). And by the way: These 37-38mm watches are not only for the people with small wrists. I have quite big wrists but I still prefer this case size over the typical 40mm size.

    Just to give peace of mind for someone who is considering the STP movements, I've owned a couple and never had any issues whatsoever. Currently have a Super Sea Wolf with the STP 3-13 movement, and previously had one with an STP 1-11 movement. I was also very hesitant from reading stories on watch forums, but I believe at this point they've resolved those QC issues.

    I bought the Grand Seiko Elegance SBGW287 a couple days ago to commemorate my first born son and me becoming a father. It's one of the two latest seasonal releases on the SBGW series that is modeled after the SGBW231. It's such a bold 37mm dress watch with a burgundy dial and red crocodile leather strap.
    My boy was born a couple weeks ago on 16 Nov. The SBGW287 was released the same exact month as my boy's birthday! It's nuts to have a not just a birth year watch but a birth month watch!

    I'm not usually a fan of yellow gold, preferring pink/rose/red gold. But I have to say that Vacheron Historiques is a knockout in yellow gold! A beautiful watch. It definitely looks like a ultra-luxury watch! And my appreciation of the AP Royal Oak has really grown over the last year. Very nice watch, but still if I had the budget for one, I'd probably go for a JLC or a Glashutte Original.

    I think you should include an endlink to endlink dimension in your spec graphics going forward. The Longines spirit on the bracelet has a true lug-to-lug of almost 50mm, which wipes out comfortable wearability on a wrist like mine (6.2 inches).

    STP3-13 is an automatic watch movement with swan neck regulator from Swiss Technology Production. It is based on the popular ETA 2824-2 and uses the same wheel architecture. STP uses a longer, thinner mainspring, boosting power reserve to 44 hours. It also includes an extra jewel on the barrel arbor. Cal. STP3-13 first appeared in the STP catalog in 2016.

    Great review Teddy. You asked about Zodiac and the STP movement....I have three Zodiac watches including the Sea Dragon the Olympos and Sea Wolf 🐺. • @shuycg

    I have the Mido Commander 59. It's extremely accurate. As defining elements, I would have also added this being a monocoque design. There is no case back. The sides are nice and sculpted. It feels like jewelry and I love to handle it, cleaning it, setting, etc.
    Another thing about its desing is the heavily recessed crown. It's really not made to be hand wound. Back then (59) it was done like that to attract attention this is an automatic watch. And it uses the new sealing tech they were famous for.

    • @roubenkhosrovian
      @roubenkhosrovian ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure but I think MIDO is one of few companies that regulate their watches to a chronometric accuracy level, even if it's not sent for cosc certification. If I'm wrong, please correct me.

    • @DeeEllEff
      @DeeEllEff ปีที่แล้ว

      So those hinges for the integrated mesh bracelet are molded into the top and bottom of the monocoque case? Looking at the pics on Teddy’s sales site, I’m still trying to figure it out…🤷‍♂️

    • @shuycg
      @shuycg ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DeeEllEff Um, the holes for the bars are drilled into the case, about 2-3mm from the edge. The case is mashined so that first 2mm if the bracelet are housed in the case. The case thus sits on the wrist, and not on the bracelet. The Commander II or Iconê has the same integration. But its a much bigger case, at 42mm. It wears as a 40mm, but a full dial one. Comfortable but big, visually.

  • @eagz3394
    @eagz3394 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    I'll add the Victorinox INOX 37mm. I don't like the way it's marketed as 'women's' but it fits great on my sub 7" wrist. Sapphire, signed screw down crown, 200m. A real tank of a watch.

    • @balesjo
      @balesjo ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've learned to start checking the women's watches when there is a specific watch I want and the Men's sizes are too large for my wrist. Quite a few produce the same design in a smaller case diameter and market it as a women's watch or a unisex watch (for instance, the Longines VHP watch is way too big for me in the men's size, but they offer a 36mm case diameter listed as a Women's watch. They offer one with exactly the same look as the men's, as well as a version that replaces the indices with diamonds, so you do have to watch for these subtle design changes).

    • @AleksiJoensuu
      @AleksiJoensuu ปีที่แล้ว

      @@balesjo Yep me too. I have a men's Eterna from 1956 that's 34mm. I found I actually really liked the size even though I have an average wrist and am a big guy anyway. So when I wanted something similar for daily use I picked up a Presage SSA785J1 for about 200€ on sale. It's 33,8mm and I don't find it too small at all for general office/daily use. That's the other thing with shopping the women's catalogue: you can find some decent sales on there!

    I have a Seiko SNK361 that I really like. They were still selling them at Jomashop last time I checked for about $100. The 37mm case design wears really well on my smaller wrist, and I really like the texture/design on the black dial. If you look really close, you can see mini Seiko 5 logos across the entire dial. I ditched the bracelet (like many people do) and put mine on a brown leather strap. I highly recommend picking one up if you can!

    @Teddy Baldassarre I would love to see a series that covers the whole product portfolio of well known brands. Meaning each video would cover one brand. I was inspired to this thought by the Casio G-Shock video you did. Their collection is enormous and confusing. Your video made it way simpler to understand! A similar video for Seiko, Rolex, Breitling, etc. that briefly touches on the main watches in their portfolio and explains why they are important would be super cool and very educational.

    Casio f-91W is 33mm but it should be in every small wrist collection, I have 33 to 42mm watches (casio, timex, citizen, longines, Hoffman, orient) but I have to say that I love my F-91W, is one of the most Reliable watches.

    The King Seiko's are beautiful IMO. Bit of a shame the price is a bit high for the movement as you say, but there's something about it nonetheless.

    In the middle of the twentieth century, the Emperor of Japan used to go overseas on visits to friendly nations. He used to present an especially made Seiko to heads of state on these visits. These watches were of the same model. They were very understated and perhaps not supposed to be very desirable. The feature which stood out was the symbol of the Emperor, the Chrysanthemum flower, on the dial of the watch. The Grand Seiko featured as a dress watch in this video, on the other hand, is very beautiful, even though it is intended to be very simple in design. I haven't come across a design of watch which appealed to me more.

    Rado Godlen Horse 17:34 The sea horse emblem at the bottom is a problem. Focus on the dark area inside of the two sea horses. Think of the sea horses as an outlining the inside black part. It looks like a sleeping dog face......or some kinda of baboon. I don't know. But it is a face.

    The Yacht-Master you were showing is not a 37 mm version, they only excited in 35mm & 40mm. In steel the only version that exist is with the grey dial with babyblue hand and "Yacht-Master" written on the dial or the two-tone (rose gold) or oysterflex.

    The Marathon GPM is a strong contender in the field watch category. The strap is nothing special and the resin case looks quite plain.
    But that dial and handset just look clean. And the tritium lume has a pleasant, soft glow.
    The Swiss assembly and regulation complement a Seiko NH35.
    I love mine.

    Teddy! I really appreciate what you do for this community. I have a suggestion for a video: Why don't you count down the best anti-magnetic watches? As a jazz musician, I constantly come across speakers, microphones, and other techy stuff that have strong magnetic fields. Thanks!

      Quartz watches. Sinn 756 and omega aqua terra gauss. There's actually a lot of watches made for magnetism now that I think of it

    if Longines comes out with a 38-ish Zulu they'll sell it with a water cannon... (BTW, really hope they'd put a 24h scale on zulu's rehaut and not waste that space)
    always liked the Ballon more than the Pasha, which seems a more popular choice for men aside from the Santos.
    the AP RO 37 is always a "perfect watch", and incredibly overlooked compared to the 41, but maybe the real sweet point is the 39.
    i think you could've considered also the Chronomat 36, which is a tad smaller but still wears awesome.

    Are there any new (or not so old) men's dress watches that are in the 32~34mm range? I am looking really hard for one and seem to come up short irrespective of price. Currently wear a relatively cheap Longines LeGrande Classique Automatic (33mm) and previous gen Yacht Master 35mm (168622) -- the later which I find kinda big and too thick. The JLC Master Ultra thin is too big at 38.5mm as is the V-C Patrimony self-winding 36.5mm -- both also forces you into stinky leather with no bracelet offered.

    Will have to say that Nomos wins it for me. I own the same watch in a sirene blue dial and it is amazing, not on a bracelet. It was in the sea and the pool during my last vacation and it is just perfect.
