I have both and it really depends upon what terrain and how much distance you wanna be able to go. The 959 became kind of a money pit for me because I quickly realized I should have went with the 979a model for the bigger tires and wider stance. And the ability to actually clear a small blade of grass. Then you'll have to get bearing s and go brusless with metal gears bla bla it adds up quick. The q901 has all the bearings all metal gears, shafts, brusless motor, an actual 3 wire servo. I run some old 1300 mah 95c 3s quadcopter bat in mine and once I found all the tires and foam that blew off instantly thru out neighborhood. Glued them on properly I can go the fastest 40 feet ever cause that's it the radio has no ra ge. So if that helps sry so late
