Re. the bass cut: I personally think in this case Dino mainly wanted to highlight the frequencies where the midrange control can intervene and how they enhance or suppress certain harmonics and affect the gain level when overdriving, not showcase his favourite tones. It does sound hollow, but I think it's on purpose for this mid control demo through TH-cam and headphones/speakers.

Jason, at the end he mentioned it was to highlight the midrange options on the amp. Usually Dino, when demoing amps, runs the bass knob around 2-3:00. I agree with you though, it would've been nice to hear a little more bottom end in the demo, maybe bass at least at flat.

Set the bass at 3 o' clock , Treble at 2 o' clock, mid at 2 o" clock Freq at 800HZ, ultra high off ultra bass off, run a cab with JBL E-140's if you can find them anymore. and you will have great cut through tone, without being too clangy. At least this works on the SVT, but I think the V-4B should sound the same good tone.

It's too bad the Bass level is down so low. I'd like to see this again with the bass at about 4-5 rather than 1... Not sure why Dino dialled the amp in like this? I just think most bass players would have more bass tone dialled in their rig like me.

But why is the bass level set low ? ....would never wanna do that (unless I'm in a boomy small room)

Because as you increase gain and volume, you won't perceive the drop in lows. If you left the volume at the same level, you would. It's just like using a SansAmp, when you cut the bass and treble and boost the Level to increase the mids. The controls on an amp like this are interactive.

Why are you pushing the overdrive sound so much? Doesn't this amp have any clean headroom? Or is it only a grinder amp?

It kind of sounds like crap compared to my FET carvin. Ampegs are so overrated.
