    Steam engines are the closest thing to a living machine in existence. It inhales, it exhales. When alive, it has a body temperature. It can whistle. It needs food and water to be able to move. I love em. 🤣

    In action, I’ve seen Strasburg Thomas, 90, and 475, and the really small gauge engine at Strasburg. I’m not sure I ever saw Strasburg 89 though. At least not in action.

    That whistle sounds like our old locomotives who used to go by our house I. Beverley ,Iowa! I miss that sound alot and the trains who stopped at the cattle yards there. 😮😢🎉😂❤

      This one was actually built in 1979 based on the original Union Pacific 119 built in 1868.

      It is. And one of the most historic, Too! Union pacific No.119 and Central pacific No. 60, or better known as the "Jupiter" were put nose-to-nose at the golden spike event to mark the completion of the transcontinental railroad at Promontory, Utah. Back in 2009, the government built replicas of the locomotives for the anniversary of the event using the original diagrams of the locomotives.

    In that video is Union Pacific 119 (A.K.A Union Pacific 119 Replica). The original was built by the Rogers Locomotive and Machine Works in 1868 and was scrapped in 1903. While this replica was built by O’Connor Engineering Laboratories in 1979.

      @@Jeepthings lt was Richard Trevithick in 1802 at Coalbrookdale in England who built the first Locomotive to run on a short stretch of track !! He took it to London in 1803 to earn money by people paying to be carried in small trucks on a large circular track !! Then someone bet him a 100 Guineas his loco could never pull anything substantial so in 1804 he took it to a iron ore quarry in Methyr Tydful , South Wales !! When it pulled a train of Iron Ore tubs (previously horse drawn ) quite a distance .

    Yes. I have seen steam engines so many times. Most of them at the same railway though and I’ve had a ride on them lots of times at one railway but sometimes at other railways.

      The operating ones I’ve seen are Strasburg number 90, Norfolk and Western 475(saw 611, but I wasn’t running that day), Thomas(BEDT 15), Torch Lake number 3, and Wilmington Western 58. The non-operating ones I’ve seen are the ones at the Pennsylvania Railroad Museum, and Steamtown, USA. The highlights include Pennsylvania 6755, PRR 1223, UP 4012, and Virginia and Truckee 20(Tahoe).

    I'm in England, where we have lots of preserved railways, and steam locomotives. Been to several of them many times, but one of my best memories is of footplating (being in the cab of) "Oliver Cromwell", a British Railways standard "Britannia" class pacific, as it was accelerating upgrade, and the blast turning the fire torally white hot.

    Yep. We got a full railyard and then some over here in northeast Pennsylvania's famed Steamtown NHS. Maybe stop by next time you're in Scranton to come see the Baldwin locomotive works No.26 while you're here.

    Ive seen a few steam locomtotives. I got to ride with WMSR #734 before it was taken out of service, and i recently saw n&w #611 and #475 at strasburg and got a ride with #611 in all honesty i thought id never see any of those engines. Ive also been to cass west Virginia to see their shays, and here in my hone state of new Hampshire i sometimes get to see White mountain Central climax #6. Ive never seen #119 except for on tv and youtube

    Ya I’ve seen the kettle valley railroad before in British Columbia ca if you can I highly recommend it and if you can do the train robbery as well there is a huge trestle bridge and the history is great

    I rid on many steam engines, one was a mine train called Eureka Nevada #7 and i THINK it was used on silver mines...? It has a 2-6-2 wheel arangement, made in 1915. It now runs at silverwood theme park in athol, idaho.

    As an Indonesian,no i haven't seen a moving steam engine,i only see the displayed one in Ambarawa, although there's 3 steam Locomotive and that is B2502,B2503,and B5112,but since there's no trains coming to Jambu-Bedono,B51 is the most active steam Locomotive in Ambarawa,along with 2 diesel Locomotive that is also active and that is D30124 and D30023,i did go to Solo but i didn't get the chance to see the steam D1410 or C1218 that supposed to pull the Jaladara train
    Note:i came to Solo somewhere before 2020,then the steam both steam Locomotive (i think in Ambarawa too) must be unactive untuk further notice,

    I have seen steam engines but not on reality because all of the trains are now Modern and very fast I love steam engines than modern and fast trains
