Ive always enjoyed the heritage minutes commercials since i was quite young. They actually sparked my interest/intrigue about learning about history in general, but especially Canadian history.

Calgary and Edmonton have an incredibly strong sporting rivalry, to the point where it's often called "The Battle Of Alberta". But when it comes to Normie Kwong, all of us put the knives and nunchucks away and celebrate this great man TOGETHER!

      Ah, what ?
You're talking about ( metaphorically ) about using weapons against Calgary . We have no knives pointed towards you at all.
We here hold no grudge but you hold one for us.
      You talk about being together.
Get over it our Northern brothers and sisters.
Come on man, we both won.
      Thanks and take care

@@mikewoods8565Really missing the point here. The "knives and nunchucks" comment was OBVIOUSLY meant in jest. Also, I'm Calgarian, not Edmontonian

"China Clipper" refers to a "Clipper" being a very, very strong wind that will knock down everything in its path. That was Normie.

You are correct. The Halifax explosion is still the largest non-nuclear (man-made) explosion. The Beirut explosion measured about 0.5 kilotons (with a possible upper limit of 1 kiloton). The Halifax explosion measured 2.92 kilotons. That's 6 times more powerful than Beirut, and about 1/5 the power of the atomic bomb. When working on the atomic bomb, the scientists actually used the Halifax explosion to determine what kind of effects it would have.

One of the medals he has on his chest is the Order of Canada, one of our highest civilian honours.

Heritage minutes got woked. They made no oral mention of his first Grey Cup for the Edmonton “Eskimos”, or the nickname he was known by for his entire career… “The China Clipper”.

I think the "speak white" is a typical "ignorant" phrase. In the US, and Canada, the bulk of the historical population was white, Christian, and British. Anyone "different" was considered lesser by some, as if they were not full people in their eyes. So "white" and "English" as well as other things got lumped together.
I'd like to believe that is a thing of the past... but it does still exist, either more hidden, or less common... and I hope for the latter.

I hesitantly agree with you, given that you mentioned, "lesser by some".
I'm sure Normie Kwong's team mates saw him as a "full person", and for him to become Lieutenant Governor of Alberta took a LOT of public support.
