I’m 70 y/o and am amazed how naive and uneducated I am when it comes to law and crime. I always thought you were charged for what crime you committed. I never realized that charges could be less or even different from the crime. I still don’t understand bond and bail and PR and % of amount. It amazes me that some of the criminals are so use to all of this they can commit or question the judge. I’m not sure why they adjust the charges, maybe because of prior record but, maybe if the criminal actually served for the actual crime they committed they wouldn’t break the law again
From a reformed criminal and recovering drug addict, don’t worry about any of it. Just follow the law so you never find yourself in these awful situations.
quick summary of both; bond/bail/% is to make sure you show up. the high cost is owed if you dont show, the % is like the down payment you can get back if you show up. reduction in crime charged is to reduce the load on the courts, if all went to trial the courts would get overloaded. normally the charge its reduced to is still something they committed but not the harshest penalty. or rather than 3 charges they may reduce it to 1. this is partly because sometimes the charges will make little difference in the end. 3 crimes that all have the same prison time are likely to be served concurrently; serving a three year sentence or 3 three year sentences at the same time is still only three years.
Thr entire law and crime system is a tangled web. Unless you're a rare breed, you've likely gotten a speeding ticket once in your life. If you had to attend court for said ticket, you were probably offered a reduction to capture a guilty plea. Would you rather your tax money go to fighting for the EXACT offense or to slightly reduce the fine? The higher the level of the crime, the longer the court case. Lawyers will tell you, any jury trial is a roulette bet. Some are stronger than others but surprises happen all the time. It is WORK to get a guilty verdict. Every single item has to be proven beyond reasonable doubt. So, that plea deal takes away the risk. As for bond, it's not as complex as you may think. Of course, if you watch different judges in different jurisdictions, it gets more complex. Every state and many locals have their own rules and norms. If you are in Fulton County, you are now aware of a UJR. These are the same thing - you are released for "free" with the understanding that you will appear or be subject to a warrant - jail time. This would apply to petty crimes where the subject is local and has little to no history. If you are given a bind, that is the amount of dollars the judge thinks will make you likely to return to court for trial. Higher crimes, more prior, or personal behavior can lead to higher bonds. Some locals allow for unreasonably high bonds that ensure the subject cannot leave the jail prior to trial. If you get a bind of $1,000 - you have an option. 1) You can put up $100 yourself and get out of jail. Don't show up, you now owe an additional $900 and have a warrant. 2) You can go to a bail bondsman. They charge you a fee and they put up the $100. You don't show up, you now owe $1,000, get a warrant, and the bondsman can track you down himself. If you show up, that fee you gave the bondsman stays with the bindsman. 3) Your lawyer can put up the bond for you. This is closer to two, but the charges are lawyers' fees. Same costs if you don't appear.

I always thought that were innocent until proven guilty, and was amazed to learn that before a hearing/pleading that the judge is to find you guilty of the crime committed/accused for the determination of the bond amount and bond regulations put into place, if you were able to make said bond. But- although some may find this "unfair" this does makes sense to keep those around them safe, until we know for sure if they are innocent of said crimes...at least it makes Sense for violent offenses, and or a reoccurring offender.. ❤

Watcha doing in Howtown?
Keep it mind that, bond is not just so "you show up"- its also based directly on your charges (presumed guilty on behalf of the judge for the decision of bond amounts) and if you are considered a danger to society, or yourself/the person you commited the crime against (if you committed a violent crime against another) as well as your past record, and if you've been charged/found guilty on this crime before.... ❤
I love Fulton County! Mind your P&Q’s and get the best smoke ever! 🎉
I hope his mother gets charged too
Man with drug charges and working in scary working in the food industry. Honestly I would be afraid he would mess up my order. The lady who threw gasoline on the guy probably caused the guy to turn to drugs for pain, whether physical ir mental, that probably caused the overdose death. So sad! ❤Live Judge Manning.
I hate to say it, but Ms. Strong bringing the hotness!!
I love the PREEE-TRIAAAAL!!
Why the delays in indictments?
God love judge Manning having to be a judge in corrupt Fanni Fulton County.
Do you still stream with Ben and John? I just started getting into court cases and the first one I watched was the Brook's trial. So just wondering if you are still friends with those guys.
The woman who threw gas on her victim, her interrogation video is on EWU crew channel. I'll have to track it down because I don't remember what episode it was.
I don't know legal procedures. . .so if someone cannot make bond they can stay in jail up to a year or more if the case hasn't been tried?
Daytona is home to Historical Black College Bethune-Cookman. It is also home to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University
