As much as I love listening to you I love the wit that Paul brings to the editing and the overall production. I always watch your videos several times because there's so much humor and intelligence along with the great approach to color and quilting.

Sometimes the answer is right under our nose. The shirt you are wearing in this video appears to be the colorway you ended up choosing for your quilt!

I live by the “Finished is better than perfect “ mantra but you made me realize that compromising at the very onset is not the right way to go about quilting. This is way too much labor and expense to cut corners before there is really a need to cut corners.

Thank you for sharing this enriching process. One of my favorite things about quilting is when I let go of a design that is not working. When I put away the fabrics that don’t belong together, or don’t belong in this quilt, I feel rich beyond compare. The fabrics I didn’t use are doubly satisfying and valuable, because they have been saved for another quilt, where they Will Truly Belong . I am grateful for my creativity, my inspiration, and the patience and maturity To Start Over. That is truly satisfying creativity.

    What a colorway journey!

You are so right. The colors matter. Especially when there are only 5 solids. Execution mistakes are live-able if you have chosen the right colors. But the wrong colors will always make us uncomfortable.

I can absolutely relate to your hesitation in using background fabrics that don't look right to you when in the same quilt. I struggle with trying to make it work but when I've done that, I don't love the project. Other quilting friends don't understand my 'fussiness' but I have learned to listen to my preferences. I love the colors that you selected and I am anxious to see it put together!

These fabric-pull videos are my favorite. I so enjoy your collaboration with your daughter--she is so clear and cuts right through the fluff. This will be a wonderful Goldilocks quilt. Good job.

Yes! You and I are kindred spirits on this one. LOVE the fabric pull step and "chewing" on the options until I find the perfect combo. Funny that my quilting "bestie" uses fabric lines and struggles to make her own choices. Thanks for another great video ❤

Paul's commentary is feeding my soul. I can listen to you talk about fabric all day long ❤, but Paul's comments put a fine point on these videos. 😂😂

Yes, favorite color of the recipient is important and the place to begin...then you can play around with that and its pleasing compliments. Your color pencil drawings are not wasted because each one has its own merit. Some of us love purple and we were cheering for the purple/red choice❤. However you are not making the quilt for us "purple people"...your friend needs a quilt with colors that resonate with her. Any of those color pallets would work in a quilt but the one you chose for your friend will be something she will cherish and in her eyes...nothing could be more beautiful!! ❤ it will be a stunning quilt...guaranteed!

Loved hearing you work through the process! I think there’s so much value in thinking of our initial blocks as sample blocks. The art of color selection and placement is wonderful and sometimes frustrating, but when you settle in.... magical!

Orange and blue combos have always been my favourite. Can't wait to see this quilt . You make so much sense. Firstly by conferring with someone whose heart was not in it. And you listened to your own wisdom and you didn't compromise. Thankyou so very much for sharing your great ideas with us. Blessings from Australia.

The first thing I try to learn about a quilt recipient? Favorite color! If Daughter is the Colorist, then you are the Curator.

It is so enlightening to hear all about your processes. It's good to hear that someone else who likes order can make something "just right"! LOL

I love all the phrases you mentioned at the end, especially the galloping horse one. I have a wall hanging over my fireplace that I completed a couple of years ago. It’s not completely square and you can see where the binding came together. Or I should say that I can really see where the binding comes together. It’s so obvious to me. I do my best not to fixate on it. However, as I’m sitting here looking at it again, I’ve decided that it should be a lesson in giving myself grace. Nothing done by hand will ever be perfect, but that’s what makes it special.
