Voltes V is still the most beloved robot in the Philippines. We watched it daily on tv with our parents at 6pm after school before dinner. In those early days, kids who didn't have television in their home would all flock to their neighbor friend's house to watch it. Unfortunately, the series was cut short and banned for violence and inciting rebellion-- major heartbreak for us kids then. It is heartwarming though that our generation who grew up in the 70's, kept the love for robots alive with Voltes V, and even with the Gundams in Odaiba and the latest Yokohama 🌹
Im from the 90s. And when gma brought back voltes v in 97. I remember everyone was talking about. Those who watched it back when it was originally aired were in their late 20s and early 30s by then. Every radio station was talking about it. I often listen to Nu rock back in the day because of the jocks. They were so excited even channel 2 rival company of gma was praising gma's decision to bring them back in the 90s. MTV philippines had a 2 hour long special on the history of voltes v and its controversy during the Marcos era. Voltes V was so popular that it was the only japanese animation that got a special cut and edit of the last 4 episodes to make it as a real featured film. It was never been done not til yuyu hakusho and the gibli films in the late 90s and early 00s. Voltes V dethroned spanish and mexican telenovelas during its comeback. Nothing could not touch it. It was so successful that all mexican and spanish dramas were moved to the afternoon (dead timeslot) while voltes v , lupin and yuyu hakusho was moved to prime time. A supposedly kid show was on the prime time beating mexican , filipino and spanish superstars. Voltes v offers more than just mecha battles. There's relationships , theres teen drama , rivalry , coming of age and father and son story. The battles are just icing on top.

In my country CUBA WE enjoy it Voltes V, and I was born in 1973, so I saw that anime of Voltes V in 1977, and I saw the preview of the Live- Action of this "Future" Movie and the Characters ares so similar from the 1977 Japanese animation. Also I watched another Anime from Japanese called "Mazinger Z" and here in youtube I see some like a "Fan-Made" sort of a Live-Action movie from "Mazinger Z" Too, but not sure if is one on the movie production of the real Mazinger Live-Action Movie.
According to the director of Voltes 5 legacy will be featured in the 2nd quarter of 2023 on GMA 7, i wanna say DOMO ARIGATO to TOEI ANIMATION for allowing and create a live action series THUMBS UP👍👍👍👍

Reminds me of Japan adapting King Kong and Spider-Man before launching their own kaiju and sentai. I wonder if Sunrise still has a hold on this show (I think they were involved in the original). They might want to redo this and diversify a bit from Gundam.
Yes it was originally from japan..When I was kid this one of my favorite anime ..in Philippines voltes v is so famous and now we are so happy that they adopt and aired in Philippines television.. I love also the song of voltes v

The true hero of the voltes V is that mechanical eagle..without his rescue…V5 will stay down by technical knock out…every time the mechanical eagle shows up…adrenaline of music pumps up the audience and the rest is history! Ultramagnetic top is another exclamation also for V5 victory besides the V sword😊
it was not aired in the philippines due to martial law. it was banned because it has rebellion in planet boezenia. all materials that lead to seditious thoughts were banned during that time. it was aired in the philippines during the 90s that is why a lot of the filipino fans are younger.
