I us the We R Memory Keepers Envelope Board and for me it seems less cumbersome than these dies and the board is much less expensive. However I like the idea of making the side flaps a different color. Love the fact you always bring us different ideas and products though.
You put so much work into your videos. Thought, planning and professionalism! Well done young one! Thank you for ALL your hard work. You are one of my sweet young fave creators.
Thanks for the tip of using scraps for the side panels of the envelope! Been wondering how to use scraps on an envelope for awhile now without wasting an entire piece of beautiful paper.
It is simply great that companies come up with different products. And I love the way you made these envelopes. 💜😍 Thanks so much for your creativity and talent that you’re sharing with us. Agreeing that this will save time. These envelopes are so lovely. Hoping for square envelopes too.
I must admit I almost didn’t watch this thinking it was just another tool for making envelopes that was too difficult to use. I was wrong, and I’m so glad I watched. This video is full of a ton of useful information! I can’t wait to start making envelopes to go with my cards!! Thank you, Jennifer, for showing us how easy it is to make envelopes, and for going above and beyond and providing useful info on how to mail them!
I have been making my own envelopes for quite a while now. I buy some still but mostly the bigger sized ones like 5x7 sized envelopes. But otherwise I have a pattern I got from TH-cam and it is quite easy. It makes the square flap envelopes. I use the double sided sticky tape with pull off strip to close them. I can put the tape on. Leave the backing on and when ready to mail. Pull off the backing as you woeful do on any envelope and mail.
I'm glad someone came out with envelope dies. I believe the last envelope would have to be written so the address info is seen on the long side, not the top narrower opening so that you don't have to pay extra (in the US) for an odd sized envelope. That would be nice to see in a video, what can be sent for a regular stamp with no extra charges.
Great ideas! I love the idea of mailing the cards with envelopes in a clear plastic envelope. I often use bubble envelopes for bulkier cards, so that would be a nice additional option.
Sometimes I make my own envelopes using the Martha Stewart platform. I think the A2 envelope die from SSS is too expensive. I really like the the different ideas you use to make attractive envelopes.
Love the video. I have been using the we r memory keeper envelope board. For now I’m going to stick to that as the dies are pricey + shipping to Canada and the dollar exchange currently take it out of my price range. I love the ideas on making the different flaps. Have to see what I can do with the envelope board to create that. Always love your videos and your many options!
This die cutting method is far more complex for me, compared to the punch board technique or even drawing around envelope templates by hand, like I still do. But its great that we have options - some work better for some people, others for other people. Thanks for sharing anotber method, lots of crafters will like this 👍
Jennifer, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE your videos...great.cardmaking advice. I've gone a whole year without really making any cards this year(my Christmas model never made it past the model stage.) However, this year is GOING TO BE DIFFERENT....my card making time is MY time...which I believe I've figured out how to put that ME TIME back in my scedule....I MISS THIS HOBBY.....BUT NOT ANY MORE. THANK YOU again, for sharing such valuable information with us crafters...have a BEAUTIFUL DAY😀
One idea I got from Lindsay The Frugal Crafter is to use single sided patterned paper and assemble the envelope with the white side on the outside and the pattern to the inside. It is good for mailing and a nice surprise for the recipient when they see the pattern inside.
I have the large envelope die from Sizzix but you need the big shot pro! It does make beautifully professional envelopes and I use 8.5 x 11 inch paper and cut two at a time since the die is a bigz die. For the longer dies I use the extended cutting plates from Sizzix. Just another way to die cut your own envelopes. Thank you for sharing this video♥️😊
I make a lot of my cards in sets to give as gifts. For those envelopes, I put a couple strips of double-sided tape where you would normally find adhesive, but leave the backing paper on. The recipient won’t even have to lick the envelope! Thanks for sharing your talents!!! 😊❤️
When I Hand-give a handmade Card I Always (90% of the time) do that exact same thing with the envelope, I put a cute band around it so they can slide it off & I made labels that I attached on the inside of the card telling them this envelope is to be Re-used & I do the same thing with that awesome tape. It is a Great way to Use & Re-Use.
I tried making a few envelopes for Christmas cards which were too big to fit into regular envelopes. Interesting to try, but I ended up putting them in larger business envelopes. Decorated with decorative paper and stickers, of course.
4bar and A4 envelopes are hard to come by where I live, so these are just perfect! So happy! Thank you for sharing other great ideas using these envelope dies.
The idea of using different colors is such a nifty idea. I had no idea you could mail them inside the clear envelopes! I'm definitely going to try that, thanks!
Awesome tutorial, as usual. Thank you for showing so many ideas what can be created when making your own envelopes. I really like the custom envelopes and so far I either used the We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board, or I simply folded the material around my card, cut it in seize and glued the sides. I like the die, especially with the sides separate, but I think the price of the 3 different types of envelope dies is ridiculous! I might take some card board and create my own template...
Over the years I decided that If I make a card I ALWAYS Make a Brightly colored envelope. People Really Enjoy the Different colors & prints & I enjoy doing it. It's Noticeable when they get their mail & it Doesn't Blend in with the other mail. YES, You NEED to use a White Address label if envelope is printed paper or a dark colored paper. Yes, I use the cardstock to make for cards that are a bit bulky, it Helps alot. I also use Clear 2" packing tape to put over the label just to make sure the label doesn't become smeared as for Many of the people I write to I have Pre-Made address labels for them. Some Inks will Smear if they get wet, and since it is out of our control after we take them to the mail box there is the possibility especially if in the winter months that the envelope might get wet from rain, so I make sure I protect the front & use a piece of scotch tape over my own return address label. These that you have shown are different & interesting templates for sure. I would Probably just cut them out with scissors rather than run them thru my cutter. I have several kinds of envelope templates I've used over the years but I like the We R Memory Keepers punch board much better. However your templates you are showing are worth looking into. Thanks for giving us another option. Great Video..
I also have the envelope maker punch board but, this looks really easy and time effective. So I think I will be purchasing this die set, for my most common size envelopes, but still keep my punch board envelope maker just because I may in the future have the need for a bigger size envelope. And, I've seen you use the Gina K Designs glue in a few videos recently, so I think I need to try her glue now. Thanks for sharing. I always enjoy your videos. Stay safe and free from this virus bug going around. Thanks again.
Thanks you really helps me to make a envelope in paper for my mom because her birthday is coming up and she is really going to like it.Thank you so so so so much .😊
I have other dies that I use to make envelopes so I don't need this one; however, I encourage you to save your $$$ to buy from SSS. It's a small business that I love supporting. They have great selection of paper crafting products, their shipping time is blazing fast, and my shipments are always in good condition. Just a thought
Jennifer, u come up with the best ideas and explanation. While I do agree these dies are PRICEY and wish they were more around $30 at least, will I buy them eventually...YES! Maybe not all at once and maybe wait for a sale. You sold me on the different options and mix and matching papers. I have the other tool from WRMK and while I know it works well for others, it doesn’t for me. Me and measurements just don’t mix. So when I need a special one I get a friend to help me. Of course, I would prefer to do it myself.
I really, really liked the idea of getting this die and making matching envelopes. However, that price of $40 for this die was extraordinary high. Yes, it is a bigger die, but ... there really isn't much to this die so that should offset the price somewhat. Sorry .... just a lot of money for something that does one thing and one size.
first, don't be sorry! i don't sell them. ;) But i do know that this price is what it needs to be. there is one die manufacturer in the US. they charge for the overall size. not how thin they are, etc. So it has to be priced this way. Wish it could be lower! :) And I mentioned, it isn't for everyone. just for those who would make lots of envelopes :)
@@jennifermcguireink It's still too pricey in reality. Plus I don't understand why the side flaps have to be separate pieces that have to be glued on. Making envelopes is easy--just take any envelope you want to duplicate, carefully de-construct it so the flaps are no longer stuck together, then lay this on a piece of cardstock. Trace all around the edges and then cut it out with an Exacto knife (and a steel edge ruler if you can't cut straight lines) and now you have your template for making more envelopes. I can't understand why so many card/envelope makers on TH-cam spend so much money on expensive die cutting machines and the also spend money on the dies themselves when you can do it quite easily with an Exacto knife.
they made the sides separate so it could fit through a regular die cut machine. no need for a big one. yes, making your own by tracing and cutting is the cheapest option. But i am looking for what is fast and easy. Glad that works for you! :)
@@jennifermcguireink Would this die work in one pass with the Gemini (the large one..) You said in future you might be using a big one most of the time? I have the Gemini in storage as I'm moving but having ordered the dies you showcased it'd help to know if full length of largest die would go right through the Gemini fitting on their cutting plate...then I can go to storage and get my machine..Thanks very much for specific help with this. :)
Thanks for the great video explaining how to use the envelope dies. I ordered them and they're on the way! I'm so excited to use up some of my 12x12 pattern paper!
They ARE a bit pricey, but I think I"m going to go with the 4Bar V Flap first. I do get them from The Paper Source, but that's NOT matchy matchy and I love what you've done with the side flaps.
I love how you jazzed up the envelopes Jennifer. Could you do a video on more ways to decorate them? You've a great creative mind so I'd love to hear your ideas. I'm trying the fancy writing that Kristina Werner does, it's fabulous!! Takes practice, lol!! TFS 😘
Happy New Year Jennifer. I love that you take the time to show how-to videos. I want you to know they HELP me so much. You are so talented and I just love you for being able to do what you do and the fact that you don't mind sharing your knowledge with us is just so refreshing and appreciated. Bless you!
Hi Jennifer, I have watched your envelope making tutorials and I think that they are absolutely excellent, truly inspirational, I have now decided to purchase the envelope dies as well and use them for my business as well, thank you for sharing these truly incredible tutorials with us. Take care and as always Stay safe, bye for now. P.S I'm now a regular subscriber to your TH-cam channel, once again thank you
Thank you so much. I’ve been looking for something like this for months now. The punch board envelopes are quite limiting and so a die set (IMHO) is ideal. Just ordered all 3 from SSS.
Amazing new dies! Beautiful envelopes you made, loved the one you put the heart on the flap of the envelope. The only down side is that they are darn pricey!
Wow! That one with glitter paper is absolutely awesome!) love your videos) But I make my envelopes with the help of my scoring board and a cardboard triangle.
Hello. I like to do my own enveloppes but the price of one die + shipment to Europe (15$) is too much for a single size. I have to stick to my punch board. I see another thing to do with the die : a gatefold card. Am I wrong ?
Just realized you can use these to make triangle gatefold cards too. And if you have dies make the flips intricate. Great dies and tips, thanks for sharing!
I have the envelope punch boards but I do like this idea so much better. SO I guess I will give those away and get the dies instead. Thank you Jennifer for the awesome ideas for making envelopes!!!
I'm so happy to see this envelope die. Love that it has just a bit more room to get the card in. But, doesn't using heavy card stock make it heavier and possibly cost more to mail?
I always like your videos and the abundance of ideas you offer but can't help but exclaim $40 is an astronomical price for a one purpose use only die! For that price point why didn't SSS include 2 of the triangle side piece dies so that it only needs one pass - especially as they could have done that for no extra cost to them - I know how the manufacturing pricing of dies works!
that is a good idea! :) not sure. for me, it is worth the cost because it is a time saver and i will use it a ton. but i agree if you aren't going to use it often, pass on it :)
Just thought that I'd mention that when you add the clear plastic sleeve envelopes over another envelope, USPS charges a fee called a non-machinable surcharge (currently an extra $0.15) because it can't go through the standard letter sorting machinery. This is the same fee they charge for square envelopes, those that don't bend, contain coins or pens, and those with uneven thickness -- like when we add thick embellishments and/or firm multiple layers to our cards. ;) If it weighs an ounce or less, USPS sells special non-machinable "butterfly" stamps that are worth the investment -- especially because they act like "forever" stamps regardless of future non-machinable rate increases. If your card exceeds 1 oz just add one "additional ounce" stamp to the non-machinable stamp for each additional ounce (BTW, these also act like forever stamps).
I have the We R Envelope Punch Board, but like you, I don't have a lot of 12x12 cardstock. The patterned paper I have in 12x12 I think is a bit too flimsy for mailing. These dies are awesome!
Love your videos, think I've watched every one and as always, this one was interesting too, but I was surprised that you put the envelope into a plastic sleeve for posting. As we are all trying to limit our plastic use, I thought this step was unnecessary.
I have a video coming out on my channel on Monday, showing an easy way to make the 5x7 envelopes without a die, using minimal supplies and best of all, you'll only need a sheet of cardstock 8 1/2 x 11! I'm so excited about it, I'll also have free downloads that you can print for reference AND a score template. I'd love for you to check out my channel!
Jennifer, I just have a thought can you make a design, the envelope it self can be a card. Can write a message inside of the envelope. So that the card and the envelope with address are together.
YES, After watching her video, That would be Perfect. They use to have those billion of years ago, Current Stationary use to carry them. This would be a Cute way to write a note ! :-)
Thanks for highlighting these dies. I used to wonder why you always mentioned in your videos that viewers didn’t have to purchase items highlighted or use these items. Isn’t that obvious? But after viewing some of the comments to this video, I understand why you have to say these things. If you have a punch board, great. If an envelope die is too expensive, don’t buy it! It’s that simple. I, for one, am excited that there is a true A2 die available and am glad that Jennifer highlighted it. When she highlights something I’m not interested in (which is rare), I move on. Easy peasy.
The post office will also take a card in the clear plastic envelopes without putting the card in a white envelope. (Only good for cards without a lot of embellishments!) I use to just put me address on a label and stick it to the front of the clear envelope. Bonus-employees at the post office can ohh and ahh over your cards.
I love making matching envelopes for my cards, I actually use them as presentation envelopes and them make a white envelope for mailing...many times my envelopes are just as beautiful as my cards... I would love to show you but I don’t think I can upload here...
WOW It's Really NICE to know that others are Enjoying to Make their own Envelopes as much as I do. I've been doing it for about 8 years now, and I've told the Grandbabes that when they see a Brightly printed Envelope in the mail it's "Their Mail from me". They Look forwards to my cards & Letters across the many miles.
I make a lot of cards I send overseas for military to use to communicate back home. Do you know of a product that will add the sealant on the envelope flaps so they can be wet and sealed when ready to mail? I have used double stick tape, but then I have to add a note explaining how to use and seal -- not all those military folks are up to date on craft stuff. :)
Carfters Companion make Envelope Gum and there is Envelope Glue. Google "Lickable Envelope Glue." You put it on the envelope and when it dries it can be moistened to close the envelopes.
I tried to make my own envelopes in the past - what a disaster! I am so sorry to ask as you do such a phenomenal job at explaining everything, but I am unable to locate the link to the completed cards. Specifically the card going into the green envelope with the poka-dot inside at around 8:40 and the one late in the video around 14:58, so pretty. I believe I was able to find one of the first ones from Mama Elephant - Fuzzy Hugs? Really all I am looking for is the name of the set & who makes it. Thanks!

Happy New Year Jennifer. I love that you take the time to show how-to videos. I want you to know they HELP me so much. You are so talented and I just love you for being able to do what you do and the fact that you don't mind sharing your knowledge with us is just so refreshing and appreciated. Bless you!
Beautiful work! As always! Have a sunny type of day, Jennifer. ✌🦋
Hi Jennifer,
I have watched your envelope making tutorials and I think that they are absolutely excellent, truly inspirational, I have now decided to purchase the envelope dies as well and use them for my business as well, thank you for sharing these truly incredible tutorials with us.
Take care and as always Stay safe, bye for now.
P.S
I'm now a regular subscriber to your TH-cam channel, once again thank you
I can’t wait to see you at CHA. I’ll be looking for you!
Some really great ideas with the envelopes Jennifer, very pretty.
Thanks for the review to me the price is really high and than add shipping I have a punch board seems much easier to use but we are all different
Great dies. Thanks for sharing all the great tips and pkg ideas.
Thank you so much for sharing your amazing ideas with us once again!
Thank you so much. I’ve been looking for something like this for months now. The punch board envelopes are quite limiting and so a die set (IMHO) is ideal. Just ordered all 3 from SSS.
I love making envelopes. Thanks for the video.
Just loving all the innovations coming out! Thanks so much!
Amazing new dies! Beautiful envelopes you made, loved the one you put the heart on the flap of the envelope. The only down side is that they are darn pricey!
This is when I'm happy I bought the big mama Gemini. :)
hahaha yes! i think i am going to switch to using the big one all the time now.
Wow! That one with glitter paper is absolutely awesome!) love your videos)
But I make my envelopes with the help of my scoring board and a cardboard triangle.
Great dies and tips, thanks for sharing!
yes yes YES!!!!!
I think I need to start making my own envelopes. Love it.
I have the envelope punch boards but I do like this idea so much better. SO I guess I will give those away and get the dies instead. Thank you Jennifer for the awesome ideas for making envelopes!!!
I really wouldn't get rid of the punch board. It's Awesome especially for smaller envelopes... :-) I LOVE MINE & have 2 sizes that I use alot.
I'm so happy to see this envelope die. Love that it has just a bit more room to get the card in. But, doesn't using heavy card stock make it heavier and possibly cost more to mail?
Great video and tips! Thank Jennifer for sharing!
Thanks so much! Love the variations you showed.
So nice and great ideas! I’m going back and forth on getting all of them 🤣🤣😱 so many decisions
Tfs, Jennifer! Since I don't have an envelope punch board, this will work for me. Is there a die for 5x7 cards?
Love the die machine you use in this video, i have one and love it.
Matching envelops forever! Thank you! 👍
Just thought that I'd mention that when you add the clear plastic sleeve envelopes over another envelope, USPS charges a fee called a non-machinable surcharge (currently an extra $0.15) because it can't go through the standard letter sorting machinery.
This is the same fee they charge for square envelopes, those that don't bend, contain coins or pens, and those with uneven thickness -- like when we add thick embellishments and/or firm multiple layers to our cards. ;)
If it weighs an ounce or less, USPS sells special non-machinable "butterfly" stamps that are worth the investment -- especially because they act like "forever" stamps regardless of future non-machinable rate increases. If your card exceeds 1 oz just add one "additional ounce" stamp to the non-machinable stamp for each additional ounce (BTW, these also act like forever stamps).
yes this is why i recommend going to the PO to mail it.
I have the We R Envelope Punch Board, but like you, I don't have a lot of 12x12 cardstock. The patterned paper I have in 12x12 I think is a bit too flimsy for mailing. These dies are awesome!
Anna Knobloch I was thinking the same but I might try the lighter card stock & see what happens. Happy crafting!
Thank you so much for this video. This was very informational and helpful.
A DREAM COME TRUE...Soooo excited...thank you thank you thank you....FABULOUS..
Love your videos, think I've watched every one and as always, this one was interesting too, but I was surprised that you put the envelope into a plastic sleeve for posting. As we are all trying to limit our plastic use, I thought this step was unnecessary.
It is just another option. Trust me - i limit plastic use a lot in my life. especially with foods, kids lunches, etc. but i am not perfect :)
These are a good idea Jennifer, but my cards are typically 5x7. Sure lots of people will find them useful though. Thanks for sharing.
Are there instructions that come with the die? Thank you.
Awesome dies 😊 thanks for sharing your experience 😘
Thanks for sharing. Lots of ideas for regular cards. xox
Could you use a e6000 or white mod Pidgey as the glue?
Wasn't sure if 3600 would be prone to bleed?
Great tutorial. Thank you.
Loved your video tutorial-great info!
Super new product!
Easy peasy.
thank you for understanding!!!
This is great Jenifer TFS oh how you make top loading go sideways ?
What set of wire clippers are you using? Thank you.

Gemini Junior - have you tried this , A2, die in it? I am wondering about the width of the die to go through? Thank you.
yes, it worked.
Great video!
Thanks for sharing...
The post office will also take a card in the clear plastic envelopes without putting the card in a white envelope. (Only good for cards without a lot of embellishments!) I use to just put me address on a label and stick it to the front of the clear envelope. Bonus-employees at the post office can ohh and ahh over your cards.
Yes, I Enjoy giving the Postal persons a Smile as well as the Recipient.
i haven't tried anything else - sorry
@@jennifermcguireink No problem- it was worth a shot - thanks for all your amazing tutorials! I learn something new and fun each time I watch one!
Thanks!

@@jennifermcguireink Thank you!
I still use my green sneakers plastic envelope template.
i have never heard of that. will check it out. :)
@@jennifermcguireink I have had them for a number of years and do not think they are in business any longer...but not sure.tfs!!!!
@@angelahartley3212almost destashed the Green Sneakers since it's uncommon to find large calendars anymore, what with cell phones. I used them exclusively to make all kind of sizes of envelopes. Glad I didn't them. I hope Jenn can get her hands on them for a personal review at least.
