I enjoy making slimline cards. My go-to size is 8.5" x 3.75", just because I designed a perfect envelope for it from a sheet of heavyweight printer paper. (Score at 2.25" down each long side, 1.5" for the top flap, .75" for the bottom flap). I love the versatility of all the various sizes out there too. I have a stack of different sized envelopes so sometimes the card I make is sized to the odd envelopes I have in my stash. LOL
Your videos are always a gift to me, but specially today. I've been worried sick about my grandma (she's in ICU in Brazil and no one can see her) and I could really use a bit of inspiration and a distraction to get out of my head for a while. Thank you so much for all you do!💕
I love slimline cards and I can't wait to shake it up with your tri-fold and gate fold designs. I know I'll get lots of compliments on the uniqueness of the cards.
So incredibly informative. Perfect examples as well. I truly love that they are coming out eith stencils to color your stamped image. Fast card, that looks like you spent all day. Thank you Jennifer, you are such a blessing in many ways. As I am bed bound it took me a bit to find something I could still do. So I make cards and then send them to be handed to Cancer patients. I have received lovely comments from the patients. I don't need the glory by any means, but it does make me happy that someone you.
Another great teaching tutorial. I;ve had a hard time getting my trifold and gatefold slimline cards to look decent. After yesterday I decided to see if you had a tutorial, and here it is. Thank you, and BTW, I am going to try the products from Pinkfresh. The tips you've shared in this tutorial - well all I have left to say is WOW and Thanks.
Thank you for sharing all of the slimline options and the appropriate envelopes. This is such practical and useful information! I confess, I just ignored video tutorial measurements and used a business size envelope to determine that 4" x 9" would work. I love making these cards...they provide a larger palette for creativity.
I also love your “handmade” comment. My dear husband has said more than once that my cards are as good as “the big company’s.” 😉I have made a few slim lines, and I like your samples and the products from PF Studio. One little drawback is the slim pieces left after cutting the paper to size. I have started to use leftover pieces to give dimension behind diecuts or sentiment strips as you recommended in a video before. So, Thanks, Jennifer for your fun, interesting videos! Have a great week! 💌
Kathy, have you browsed the greeting card section at any big retailer lately? I hadn't bothered for several years until recently. Handmade cards and card-makers are "dragging" the mass production world! The hallmark types are trying (badly) to imitate handmade cards and are charging a fortune! Your hubby knows what he's talking about!
Dive made several slimline cards and enjoy it! Thank you for the ideas to step up slimline cards so they all look the same and have an element of surprise! Thank you for sharing.
You always amaze me by how much effort you put into your TH-cams and how many tips you pass on to us. Thanks so much for your generosity. Love all of your cards - at the moment I'm completely smitten by slimline cards, but so anxious about trying to use what I have and adapt them to the new format. Can't afford all the new products specifically brought out for these cards, particularly when you have to add shipping costs and differences in our money here in Australia. I get all excited when I see something new come out and then realize that once the exchange rate and shipping goes onto what I'm after, there'll be very little change from $100. Never mind - you always give us such great ideas. Again, thanks so much for sharing.
oh i agree. there is SO MUCH PRODUCT OUT THERE! and it is expensive, sadly. That is why 99% of the time I try to show techniques that can be done with a category of products, instead of a specific product. so people can use that they have. i will be sure to do a slimline video talking abotu stretching your products to fit the bigger size ;)
Here in the UK, craft companies have made tall card blanks with envelopes for years. They measure 105mm wide by 210mm tall with the envelopes 110mm by 219mm. They were a pain to decorate because no dies were skinny or tall enough for decorative panels. I have used them a lot for mixed media cards as they are mostly sold in Kraft cardstock. 🙂♥️🇬🇧
This video was not only helpful but beautiful too! I love all the versions of cards you showed and these companies coming out with matching stencils is awesome!
I prefer the 4 x 9 cards, as well. They just give me a little more real estate to work with. I also find all of the slimline dies from various companies, layer just fine. I found these techniques very interesting and your cards are just gorgeous, as usual. Thank you for sharing your beautiful works of he"art" with us!
I love your channel so much. You offer so much that is new, sometimes the old, creative and fun. I have been cleaning and found cards I started to design over 2 years ago-they are slimline! I abandoned the design because I was afraid. People would think it was "dumb". Silly me. Thanks again for sharing such great content!
Beautiful cards. I love how you are always thinking outside the box. You always have so many great ideas. Thank you for all your hard work you do for all of us to learn and enjoy from♡
So far I have resisted the “slimline craze” but I love these ideas and will give it a try once I am settled in my new place. It’s especially tempting for those long scripts that don’t fit or look awkward on a traditional card size.
I have been making "slim line cads" for years espically for weddings by scoring an 8.5 x 11 sheet of card stock at 4" & 8" and using the 3 inch flap to slid in my money, love them. Wonderful ideas
That's a "DL" size in the UK. We've had that size in greetings cards for years. However, it's lovely to create them yourself and there's so many dies for backgrounds tc. It's like making brand new cards and I've been a crafter for a very long time! We like our big cards here! 😊 Great inspiration as usual Jennifer! TFS! ❤️
I love your technique driven videos. Seeing the new products is wonderful (I LOVE PF) but I love being able to apply techniques to products I already own. These cards are amazing! TFS!
Thank you so much for this tutorial, Jennifer. These cards are lovely. I've just recently started making slimeline cards and always look for creative ideas...and, as always, can depend on you to provide them. Thanks, too for your continued inspiration!
Hello Jennifer. I love the slimline cards, made some for last Christmas. Don't always use them, but you could say I am hooked on them ! Your examples and the products you show are wonderful, thanks for sharing them.
Fabulous cards and products Jennifer, I love the slimline cards, I’ve made quite a few, I hadn’t thought to try it as a gatefold or a bridge fold but definitely will now. You are amazing, stay safe 🌸🌸🌸
Good more! Welcome back. It’s a hard road to recovery but I hope you are successful. Prayers for you. I have been there too. Just be yourself and I’m sure your fans will be there for you. Ok. I’m going to listen to your video. Keep going to AA. The companionship helps. I do think you have a good plan. Hugs!!
Great video. Didn’t realize slimline was a thing or not a thing. I’ve been making them just because I folded something “hotdog”, which is what we teachers call the fold. My students will be tickled to know they are making slimline cards and not hotdog folded cards. Lol
You truly are a queen of card making! I have learned so much from your tutorials! Thank you! You truly inspire, and thank you for sharing your skills! PS I just love the Gemini sandwich plate! It has made die cutting so much easier! ❤️
Love these Pink Fresh products and what you created with them! I'm placing a new order right now. I can't think of a better way to get started with slim-line cards!
You had me at stencils! I love the layered stencils Pinkfresh has been creating to complement their stamps. These are invaluable when coloring is not your strength (let's put it this way- the colorless blender is my best friend). Then the layered stencil backgrounds with this release are so fabulous. This is the first time I wish I could purchase a whole release! Yet again your cards are beautiful. Your techniques make creating possible for me by saving valuable time and allowing me to focus on the parts of crafting that make the process fun for me. Thank you for sharing your time and creations.
Jennifer, how amazingly awesome your ideas 💡 and techniques combined are. Vintage JMG. Love them all. Maybe 🤔 I can follow the examples of your creativity (you always make them look easy) So grateful to have you as inspiration, bless your heart ❤️
When I make a slim line card I take an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of cardstock, fold it in thirds and I get a trifold measuring 8 1/2 x approx. 3 1/2. You can fold it like a business letter, or fold it accordion style. It's so easy because there's NO CUTTINNG & NO MEASURING. I especially like this size card if I have a lot to say in my personal message, or if I'm making a card that will be signed by a group of people because there's more room on the inside. I have used this size to make a pop up feature on the inside that looks like letter blocks that kids play with. The blocks require measuring, but not much. You space them out at 1/2 inch intervals and have 4 pop up blocks to decorate.
First card I ever made was a slimline because that’ the size envelope I had in the house. Its a great size for enclosing gift checks or coordinating holiday newsletter.
Love these slimline cards, they’re fabulous!!! Definitely going to give them a try. They’re very versatile & I plan to use them as money cards this Christmas. Thanks, as always for sharing your time & creativity!!! Stay well, blessings to you & your family!!!
Thanks for this video! I love slimline cards and saw the new Pink Fresh Studio release. As always, you've given us ideas we can use with items in our personal stashes.
Love all of your ideas! You've inspired me to get back into card making and try some slimline cards I love Pink Fresh Studios and these new products are fabulous!
I was just thinking, “it would be great to have those measurements.” Wham! Jennifer says she has them on her website so we can print them. Thank you Jennifer! 💜
Jennifer, you never disappoint! Beautiful cards and fun techniques again! I really appreciate your work.i have made half of my Christmas cards using your “Surprise Gatefold” design and am working on the other half making “Seasons Tweetings”. Such fun to make.
I love the concept of the layering background stencils. I'm going to look at some of my existing stencils and see if I can combine them. It's a shame they don't include masks as I'm not a white space girl.
I love the possibilities that slimline cards provide - more room for die cuts, but I have a problem with backgrounds. For example I have a snowy/starry night sky die that I like. Any suggestions as to how I can use this die on my 8 1/2” by 3” background panels ? Thanks for your video ! Your cards are always beautiful !
Jennifer McGuire - I managed to cut a 3” by 8 1/4” panel with a 4 1/4” by 5 1/2” background die. It’s an intricate die that I would normally send through my Gemini Jr, but I’ve only done a few partial die cuts and I’ve always used my Cuttlebug. I failed on my first attempt ... fortunately I still had my second panel and that one was a success ! Thank you for taking the time to reply ! Take care !

One more question, Jennifer. The sticky mat is brilliant. Your link is for 12x12 mats... did you just cut a mat down to a smaller size to use in your Misty? Thanks!
THANK YOU for explaining slimline cards and all the different sizes!! You're cards and tips are priceless to people like me!!
Oh Jennifer, you are the queen of design and creativity. I appreciate your "engineer" mindset. Thanks

What about Paper Rose which is an Australian company?
Thank you for explaining the different sizes of slimline cards and envelope sizes. Excellent tutorial!
I love making slimlines - so great to see the trifold and gatefold options. Brilliant tip about lining up the letters on the sticky mat!
I like how you used the letter dies very neat looking, thanks for the great idea

Letter arrangement with a sticky mat. GENIUS!

Fantastic video as usual - your skills and creativity are amazing. Thank you.

Thank you so much for the bunch of tips and techniques! You explain everything so well it makes me feel like I can make beautiful cards too.
The taping of those letters for placement was my biggest take today. I will try that for sure! You always have such great information!
Great tips Jennifer. I love all the slimline cards.
Thank you for the measurements Jennifer. I'm a huge Pinkfresh fan and all your samples are gorgeous. xo

yes i should have mentioned this. i wanted a 4x9 for plans i had - but yes, you can fold this way!
So pretty! I love the look of the slimline....something different. Good job! ; )

Love, love, love these ideas for the slim lines! 🤗
All this information was very helpful. Thanks for sharing your tips. These are all great cards.
Gorgeous card. I will have a go at this. I really love the layering stencil
I completely agree about working on a different sized canvas sparking inspiration!
beautiful slim line cards. Thank you so much for sharing.
Another video where you hit the cards “out of the park”!!! Thank you
I like the proportions of the mini slimline cards.
My goodness Jennifer, what a fabulous video!!!

Have fun!
Haven't tried one yet but now I want to. Thanks for sharing!
Fantastic video!!! Thanks for the tips and enabling!!
Great teaching. So informative and interesting! Thank you.
I am ALWAYS so inspired by your creations ! Thank you
“Handmade, not Hallmark.” Love that ❤️😊
Thank you for the video. I really like slimline cards and I usually do the 4x9 but will now try the smaller one for sure. Thank you.
Thank you so much for your videos. You inspire me everyday!
I love the possibilities that slimline cards provide - more room for die cuts, but I have a problem with backgrounds. For example I have a snowy/starry night sky die that I like. Any suggestions as to how I can use this die on my 8 1/2” by 3” background panels ? Thanks for your video ! Your cards are always beautiful !
i will try to address ideas in a future video
Jennifer McGuire - I managed to cut a 3” by 8 1/4” panel with a 4 1/4” by 5 1/2” background die. It’s an intricate die that I would normally send through my Gemini Jr, but I’ve only done a few partial die cuts and I’ve always used my Cuttlebug. I failed on my first attempt ... fortunately I still had my second panel and that one was a success ! Thank you for taking the time to reply ! Take care !
Oh boy. This release is one that is going to get me in trouble.
thanks so much for introducing me to this wonderful company, their designs are amazing and their prices are unbelievable
I am one who hasn't tried the Slimline yet. Soon....with these great ideas!!
I love these! I enjoy your creative mind as well.
What wonderful ideas you have!
Simply love your cards, special the onde wish the letters, where is the sticky mat from?
I got it here: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07F1XL3BM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&tag=jenmcgink-20&th=1. But since then companies like Brutus Monroe have come out with mats that fit right in the MISTI
I just love your enthusiasm and creativity! You're the best!
Love this video Jennifer! You took slimline cards to a whole new level.💙
Simon I notice you always watch a lot of Queens😉 making Masterpieces of card. What is the proper name 🤔 💭 Anyways you know what I'm sayin. I Love them all. But back to what I'm talkin about. I think it's so freckin Amazing that you always leave the most positive, uplifting, kind, down to earth comments to each one of them. And your so on point about each of them. Jennifer is sooo phenomenal, she's totally amazing and inspiring to each and everyone of us. She is definitely the Queen of all😊❤❣ And I do say all the time You are Amazing, you and Tim Holtz are a genius ❤ I thank you for all the creations that you have made for all of us. These cards that Jennifer has made has really influenced me to try these kinds of told. Jennifer is one of my "BIGGEST" Mentors I have. She is definitely Phenomenal and so are you Simon 🥰😊❤❣
I always look forward to your videos, I get so inspired, and as always you showed us some really great ideas. Thank you 😁
One more question, Jennifer. The sticky mat is brilliant. Your link is for 12x12 mats... did you just cut a mat down to a smaller size to use in your Misty? Thanks!
Yes I did. Now there are several brands that make them sized for the MISTI, including one from My Sweet Petunia (maker of the MISTI)
Love ❤️ love ❤️ your beautiful 😍 cards of slimline kindness Jennifer.
thank you Jennifer have a beautiful week x x x
Love these slim line cards
WONDERFUL IDEAS . Jennifer, can add the link for that transparent sticky mat. Thanks.
