First off: Happy Birthday Cassie!! And my wife can relate to celiac life! Great video, I am glad spring is back here because outdoor rides are more often than Zwift ones. And race season is coming!!!
Those roads make me want to get out and ride. I've been sick too with a head cold. Looks like I won't be able to get out until next week. Pretty cool to start and finish at an airfield. My next gravel race starts and ends on a short-track oval speedway. Your videos are making me want to get a van more and more.
My first race of the season is this weekend. Valley of Tears in Turkey, TX. I'm signed up for the 115 mile race, but I'm not in shape for it. I, too, had a bout with the flu for a couple of weeks which put a big dent in my training. Just hoping to make it through the ride. Great video.
Cool video, Rich. Looks like a solid event with nice gravel roads to ride. Don't see an event starting on an airport/airpark taxiway too often! 🤣 I've been using Skratch Hydration mix, orange flavor, for years. However, I've cut back on how much to add to a 20 ounce bottle - now only use one-half scoop since the sugar content in a full scoop is stoopidly too high. Any HR z2 ride under two hours, it's pretty much just water or hydration mix. A gel for emergencies, just in case. Maybe carry some SaltStick Race Ready Caps Plus tablets, too. Oh, and tell Cassie to check out Quantum Energy Squares, if she doesn't already know about them. The Peanut Butter Dark Chocolate squares are delish! I have eaten NuGo's bars in the past - just avoid bars with chocolate on rides anymore; I've experienced melty gooey messes with Skratch's PB and chocolate bars on rides. 🤣 Take it easy, sir 🍻

Thanks CJ, and likewise!

Nice I thought about signing up for that one, good luck and enjoy!
I did a ratio 12 speed conversion with the wide range cage and love it. Being a big guy I really appreciate the extra range on steep climbs.
Nice, and I agree the big rear cassette has already come in handy, really going to be nice when I have a bikepacking load on the bike.

Kinda silly to see a bunch of grown ups riding bikes but I'm enjoying a bike again 😅
Nothing wrong with that!
