    Hey Glamfam! In this #Shorts video we are talking about why I DON'T recommend sleeping in your conditioner to deep condition your hair. Of course I list some safer alternatives to allow you to deep condition more quickly and safely for added benefit to your hair. As always, thanks so much for watching and if you have any questions, just let me know in the comments below! You know I love you boo!

      @SatelliteOffice my focus is not on the feel in this video, it’s on the fact that conditioning in that manner can lead to and exaggerate bacterial and fungal growth on the hair and scalp. However, it’s your hair, and you are more than welcome to do what you feel is best with it.

    You are totally right on point with this Linwood, I USE to do this crap “condition over night” and suffered with the absolute worst dandruff and scalp issues for years and couldn’t figure out what the heck was causing, went to the doctor and what they gave me did not work. One day a stylist suggested that I try aloe Vera mixed with tea tree, peppermint and oregano oil and water in a spray bottle and that concoction got rid of my issues and I’ve been good every since and needless to say I Don’t deep condition over night anymore.

    • @GetGlamFam
      @GetGlamFam  3 ปีที่แล้ว +42

      I completely understand why people do it, because often it will leave the hair soft, but the issues it can cause are far worse! I’m glad you were able to get it balanced back out!

    Oddly this subject crossed me today. Earlier I watched a TH-cam'er who is hard core on sleeping with conditioner. I asked the question "instead of sleeping in it, could you get the same benefit from sitting under a dryer, hot towel wrap or something, I know my hair designer never put us to sleep when getting a deep condition?" Maybe it was a sensitive question because her response just now "I didn't mean everyone, I'm talking about me"; oooh but you are a person with people watching you yes, I didn't say this of course. Sorry I ask, hahah hahah. I personally would find it inky sleeping with something wet in my hair.

    • @GetGlamFam
      @GetGlamFam  3 ปีที่แล้ว +62

      There are a lot of folks on TH-cam that share what they do but don’t understand the science or sanitary measures behind everything. Sometimes you have to do your own reasoning and research fooling with some of these people in these TH-cam streets.

      This is why I follow professionals and see professionals. They would literally tell you "what you saw on the Internet is wrong boo boo" . Lol! I'm age 39 with ultra-fine high porosity 4c hair and a sensitive scalp. I can't do 75 percent of what they non-professional twenty-something TH-camrs do. I literally use shampoo, deep conditioner and leave in conditioner. No ayurvedic treatments, no stylers, no rinse out conditioner, no DIYs, no denman and no damn overnight anything. Lol! My trichologists put an end to my product junkie-ism. Lol!

    This is so true! I learned the hard way. I would periodically deep condition overnight, greenhouse method and stuff like that. It wasn't long before I noticed my scalp stunk! It would be freshly washed and I could smell funky scalp I tried everything until finally I had my hairdresser wash it with some super strength shampoo they use for mildew and let it sit (I was just like yes let's treat it like mildew because I couldn't wash the smell out) and the smell was STILL there but just barely. From there I was able to rid my scalp of smelliness, it took some really strong shampoo though. Even after a workout/shower I'm careful to let my scalp breathe and not stay bunned up constantly (you know with workouts/showers and stuff) I learned my lesson!! I was washing my hair every 3-5 days which was a lot because of that.. now I can go as long as I want🤓😎

    omg this actually makes so much sense, sometimes my conditioner be staying in for 2 days and my hair is always filled with dandruff, but honestly it’s prolly not gonna change only cause my mom washes my hair and she barely has the time to do it, but when i’m older and can do my own hair i’ll definitely keep this in mind

    THANK YOU for this! I have very long dry & damaged hair. I REALLY don't want to cut it all off! 😬 Went on TH-cam & saw to do this. Bought a bottle of Aussie 3 minute miracle over a month ago & was having reservations. Didn't know why, but haven't done it yet. Whew!😰

    I have done this several times and my hair is healthy and strong. But, listen to the licences professional. They know what they are talking about. But, remember all hair textures are not the same😊

    Much needed information! Recently, I stopped this. I use to have a really bad itch in my crown area that would never go away. After stopping this my scalp feels much better so this video resonates. Thank you for the education!
    Also, I heard a story last year about a lady who would wash her hair and put it in a bun to air-dry and she ended up growing mold/mildew under the bun. So now I always do twist out, or wash and go.

    Thank God my own temperamental scalp prevented me from attempting that stupid practice. When I deep condition, it starts itching at the 30 minutes mark without fail. Whether I use heat or not. 😁

    He has beautiful curls. I was very surprised to see alcohol and silicone in the conditioners he recommended on Amazon.

      Thank you! cetyl alcohol and cetearyl alcohol are no drying alcohols. One is an emulsifier (it allows oils and water to be in the same formulation) and the other is a fatty alcohol that adds to moisture balance. As far as silicone, it gets a bad wrap, silicones are easily shampooed off, and they add to slip, shine, and moisture retention. Thanks for watching!
