- Raphael Diluzio is a serial creative artist, entrepreneur and professor. He is currently developing two start-ups, creating a new program in Design Science at USM, while still maintaining his studio practice. His art is centered in visual image making, primarily in the relation between traditional studio art and digital time-based media. His interest lies in reconnecting a historical praxis in painting with technology. The result is live digital performances, time-based projected paintings, installation, and visualization. Raphael actively writes and publishes his theories on, Creative Intelligence, Design Science, working in a time-based medium as well as critically examining how these emerging media affect our culture. He currently resides in Maine.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. Sad to hear that Raphael passed away unexpectedly over the weekend.. I had the pleasure of being one of his last students during his final full semester and this man was unique. The stories, smiles and laughs made the classroom so much better of an environment. I will always remember Raphael and my heart goes out to the family.
I just found out today about his passing. I was one of his first students when he taught at SCAD in 1995. Great teacher, difficult, but very memorable.
And now his words live forever in youtube.
RIP Professor Raphael Diluzio, I was a student of his this semester, and I received the news before his class. I have to say I am devastated to hear about his passing. This man was beyond awesome and definitely taught me a new perspective towards live. RIP to a man who made a big impact to the world!

Excellent speech! Very inspiring and motivational, and so relatable for me ( a survivor of TBI). I am sad to find out from these comments that Professor Raphael DiLuzio has passed away. I am going to remember him because I feel influenced by what he has shared with the world.
I had listened to this talk a couple years ago, and it has proved helpful for the exact reason he mentioned. I now am able to more formally recognize where I'm at in the process, and having that framework helps me bring about the various steps much more fluidly. It really has proved very helpful. My process was effective before, in that I was able to fairly consistently get good results, but it was considerably more disjointed and sometimes quite agonizing to fumble my way through an undefined process.

Love this talk. Practical and insightful.
Love the talk - both in content and in delivery. I have been on this kick of deconstructing momentum, and your talk is another way of communicating and reinforcing it. Momentum being an ecosystem of Consumption, Mass, and Velocity.

This was GREAT! A lot of insightful points.
What I need to start doing more is actually jumping on that eureka moment and making it into something. Far too often I think of a good idea then just think I'll record it later or whatever, only to completely forget what it was. The worst feeling haha. Also I will start off an idea but then leave it incomplete and move onto something else as after coming up with the initial idea it becomes harder to add to it and be satisfied with what you come up with :/

I am blessed to be a part of an artist's work. His name was Paul Dickerson, he has a drawing I love... just two words "use gravity". Now if you just think about gravity, okay it's a scientific law. But if you go beyond and think about using gravity while creating art... now it gets interesting.

Mr. Diluzio after describing your accident and the concussions you had that caused you a great deal of pain. You are like real life Doctor Strange. Your story of recovering and training our mind to recreate the activity and to discount what the doctor tells and think positive. you made an outstanding recovery, excellent speaker with a wealth of knowledge. You are gifted thank you for sharing. I too had many concussions from accidents automobile. My wife things I have Alzheimer's and thinks I need to get my brain checked. Any suggestions? First of all, you have to have a desire or drive to create something. Without commitment and belief we cannot achieve anything. Creativity is a response to challenge. Question this challenge and research the solution. This will create new ideas. Eureka moment- write down the flash of ideas and believe in them. Enough is enough stage. Adapt your thinking and approach it with metaphor. Remember there are no boundaries to your imagination. Then invent something great and something that makes you happy. This world should not be about satisfying others and adapting the rules. Humans are incredible creatures unfortunately they set barriers to their realisation. There is no right and wrong in the world of creation as long as you are moral and doing your best.
Here is a perfect example:
I make my own music. My mum hates it, other people don't understand it. Does it mean it has no purpose and therefore I am not creative? NO! It makes sense to me and another 100 people and songwriters writing similar style of music. Keep going and you'll achieve great things

Thanks for thos vide o. I had an accident when I was still in college and I have never been the same I lost so much. Creativity is all I have now. I am learning how to maxamine it. It is about the only thing that comes mostly for me. I didn't hame the medical to get up on my feet as fast as I would like but I put in the effort to recover and now my recovery is going well. So thank you for the help.😎😳😍😘🤣😎
