    I just turned 51 and have had my first Baker's cyst 10 years ago. I first noticed them when I moved to a new home which had hard wood floors. Within a few weeks of moving in and walking on the hard wood I had my first bakers cyst. I didn't even know I had a lump on the back of my knee until my fiance noticed it. It was huge! At the time I wasn't sure what it was but looked online and self diagnosed the issue. It went on for several days / weeks and it would not go away. It was only in my left knee. I started to wear slippers with cushioning to see if it would help. And it did!!! I now wear slippers at all times when on hard wood floors. If I remove the slippers only for 10 minutes my knee pain will come back and I will have another cyst. The best thing you can do is wear shoes or slippers with as much cushioning as you can. If you don't notice any improvement try another pair. Do not use just rubber like crocks because it does not help. You need slippers that are like walking shows for support. I would imagine if you have hip pain this might help as well. Needless to say 10 years later so long as I keep wearing my slippers and use good shoes I have been able to keep them away. But I am not kidding, if I take them off, within 10 minutes of walking on hard wood floors I will have bad pain and a lump will start.
    Please pass this along to anyone who has baker's cysts!

      I just found out tonight I have a bakers C. I thought I had sciatica. So now I have to work out what to do. I will try the padded slippers/shoes. Thanks

    Don't have insurance so I guess I'll have to treat this myself. Just hoping it doesn't throw a blood clot and kill me. Oh well.

      not insured as well, $120 for diagnostic.. oh well, going to get this looked at tomorrow hoping for the best as its not painful nor a very large lump. about the size of a nickel in diameter. some days its even gone but after work it'll be back lol. regardless good luck👍🏻

    Injured my knee 5 wks ago. Just had a MRI, was diagnosed w/significant meniscus tear, a Baker's Cyst which is leaking, and a bone bruise. Extremely painful. The DR says my knee is a "Mess" you mentioned a ruptured cyst but not a slow leak. What about a slow leak?

      @@cmy1313 Yes, I had a partial meniscectomy in Nov. and it turned out well. This March I injured my other knee and it's worse. MRI shows a meniscus root tear & a stress fracture and a Baker's cyst & significant bone edema.. Insane pain. I also have chondromalacia in one compartment and therefore my surgeon is unsure about fixing the root tear. I'm on rest and only walk w/a walker to heal the fracture & bone edema. I'm sick of 2 knee injuries in 10 mos.

    I have Dercums Disease, Fibromyalgia, Multiple Sclerosis, osteoporosis, rhumatoid arthritis, reynaulds disease. The dercuns disease causes numerous lipomas all over my body. I assumed the lumps I felt were lipomas. But I felt 7 lumps. But my knee hurt so bad I could barely walk. So I started icing my knee and wearing a knee sleeve. I went to bed with the sleeve on. I woke up in the morning with my calf really swollen. Now my calf hurts a lot. Bruising was minimum but my calf is pretty swollen. I'm not seeing any redness. My knee only has 1 knot now.l behind it. So I am just touching it out. I'm keeping a close eye on everything. Not fun but not the worst issue I've had.

    What would a baker cyst at the shoulder be called?

  • @WhytyProd
    @WhytyProd ปีที่แล้ว

    If I have a bakers cyst will it be apparent all the time? I've been diagnosed with a bakers cyst, but I get recurring swelling every two weeks which lasts 3 to 4 days. Then my knee return to its normal state and I have minimal pain and zero swelling.
