- Hi I'm Sophia! Last Saturday I matriculated at Oxford University and vlogged the experience. I am now officially a member of Somerville college, Oxford. Hope you enjoy this very chaotic vlog :)

Ahhhh Love these videos!!! I feel as if getting into Oxford is a possibility.
Then go for it! If you don’t get in it’s ok it’s really hard and there will be thousands upon thousands of applicants, you’ll be just as good as all them it’s just they don’t have enough spaces!! I believe you can do it though :)

TSA next week! I keep watching Oxford vlogs as motivation 😂 should be fine I’ve been hitting good scores consistently at home as long as the nerves don’t get to me on the day…

@@eugenialee922 PPE. I’ve got consistent 86s on my last few papers so I’m feeling pretty confident. I think 74s considered interview worthy, but securing an interview isn’t the same as performing well in an interview so 🤷♂️ what are you applying for?

@@Luke43219 nope! I went from 86s in practice, with the nerves on the day I got 72. Still secured an interview, which I thought went OK, but didn’t get in. Did get firm offers at Warwick and Kings. Needed A*AA. Got A*AB with the B in further maths - further maths killed me! As you probably know it was a super bad year for A-Levels so a lot of people got into their firms with lower A-Levels than their offers, HOWEVER, I didn’t have that A* until after a remark, which took two weeks. By then the unis had filled up and had no obligation to hold my place, considering I was still one under. It’s likely if I had the A* on results day I’d have got into my firm, but who knows. Ended up clearing into Lancaster university.
So the things that went wrong were: TSA, interview, further maths A-Level, 320/321 in English and needing a remark before getting the A*. Basically, everything!
All that being said, I’m super happy at Lancaster, great friends, great course, top ten university. Looking likely I’ll be aiming to do a law conversion at the end of my degree. And not being at Oxford or even Warwick gives me the time to go out and have fun, see my girlfriend, or do the other things I care about like learning more Spanish or piano. I’d hate the workload at Oxford, for sure. It’s cliche, but everything happens for a reason. Wouldn’t trade a single bit of my experience. Anyone watching this video in future application years, don’t stress, life might not always agree with your plans, and that’s completely OK. 👍

My dream. I’m one second in and I feel like crying 😭 I’m in ks3 and i get all higher in all my exams and classes. I’ve wanted to go to Oxford since I was 5 and no I yes not because it’s famous. It’s because I went for a day on the way back from a holiday and it was sooo pretty and I just fell in love. My mum had done some conferences there and at the time I wanted to be an astronomer so I asked my mum if it was good at teaching that subject or others similar and (with Oxford being like one of the best if not the best university in the world) of course she said yes! I’ve had my heart set on it ever since. I don’t study to get good grades I study to be where she is standing :) you are so lucky congratulations! What an inspiration

I actually went to Oxford a couple of years ago. I remember one summer night in second year, I was at a party and there was this girl there who was really, really drunk. At one point she let out the longest, loudest fart I've ever heard come out of a girl. It smelled so awful as well. It was shocking yet hilarious at the same time, definitely one of my funniest memories from university. Such good times.
This makes me really want to go to Oxford

Do they have a deadline to submit our official A/L results in case we pass the interview and get an offer?
I mean lots of students are applying in their last year of high school while they still haven't finished A/L s and they only submit their A/L results later . So does it also have a deadline?
I would be so grateful to you if you could answer cause i have been searching about this a lot . But couldn't get an exact answer😢
I have a quick question - is it common for people in Oxford to not take maths for A Level? Would I be at a huge disadvantage?
Everyone has taken different A levels. Loads of my friends didn't take Maths A level, it just depends if you're course requires it or not x

I know exactly what these students are like. They are all the same. All the same.
I got 3 grade 7s and 5 grade 6s at my gcse do you think there’s any chance of me getting into Oxford , because I really want to get in 🥲
Whilst those grades are slightly lower than the average on the clinical website, all grades are contextualised, so if you are from a disadvantaged background or went to a worse school, don't let it put you off from applying!
Definitely don’t let that put you off applying! I know lots of people who were in a similiar situation and they didn’t regret applying at all
