    This is great! I am a tv-directing student, but this is really inspiring even for my subject. I think this is a really good example of how a portfolio should look like. But the best part is how good you are at articulating defining terms of what censors look at. Really great video!

    This will be so helpful. I'm a product design student and I was so nervous if I would even have a chance to be accepted for architecture...This helped a lot to understand how to present my work, ty! :>

    should the works in my portfolio be overall well rounded or can it be diverse? Because I noticed a lot of your work is on human bodies and anatomy and I started getting worried if all my works should have the same theme😭😭

    • @exteriorarchives

      no not at all! they dont have to connect or have a flow, as long as you're able to discuss them cohesively and as long as theyre intentional (or you can make it up and make it sound intentional) then its all good!

    incredible. I'm in the summer right before yr13 and Im struggling on making my portfolio. Watching this and a couple other videos made me realise actually how easy it is to create an expressive and innovative, personalised presentation. Even though there was not much multimedia, you really defined and mastered your style and it definitly worked! I want to ask if you have any other bits of work like sketch books, essays, etc. I just want to see the quality I need, especially for the personal study in a-level art. Thanks a lot!!!!

      no worries!!! im so glad it was helpful!!! in terms of my actual a level sketchbook hand in i never picked it up from school LMAO so god knows where it is. as for the personal essay - don't stress at all!!! the quality of essay isn't expected to be like that of an English literature essay, as long as it's relevant to your project you'll be more than okay. good luck with year 13❣️

    You recommended this for a transfer student I’m currently going to UB but I wanna transfer to Pratt do you think I should stick to the architecture side of the things or just do what I like

    • @exteriorarchives
      @exteriorarchives  หลายเดือนก่อน

      im so sorry, im not too familiar with how things work in the US! im based in the uk! buuut i honestly think do what you think is most fulfilling and enjoyable. architecture is very energy consuming so if its not something you enjoy, you'll feel constantly drained. best of luck w everything ❣️

    this is an amazing portfolio!! and its so cool that you've linked the human anatomy + your identity within your portfolio! may I ask what paper size (such as A4, A3 etc) did you use for your drawings in your portfolio? :D

    • @exteriorarchives
      @exteriorarchives  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      thank you! the portfolio submission is all online (unless they're changing it in coming years?), so don't worry too much about the size. i used a5 for most of the sketches and a4 for everything else ❣️

    Do you have any tips to improve drawing skills, im currently doing art GCSE and considering architecture and think i might do art a level but i dont think my art is good enough to actually do it and get a good grade.

      draw all the time!!!! you have to be patient and consistent! draw from life as well and understand the importance of perspective and proportion. once you have those two fundamentals down, other things (i.e light, shadows, backgrounds) will come also. you will be more than fine for a level - people improve exponentially over the two years so just be patient w urself and do a little bit everyday ❣️

    Genuinely curious. Why does architecture need animation/art school portfolios?

    • @exteriorarchives
      @exteriorarchives  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      in all honesty im not quite sure? probably bc they assume that at undergrad you have little to no knowledge ab architecture, so theyd rather u have good technical skills and can talk about developmening ur own work

    • @Houry247

      Because drawing gives you basic visualization skills. Helps with imagining creations that don't exist in real life.
