Thank you so much, I am so glad the video was helpful! :) We mostly talked about my portfolio but he also asked me general and personal questions about myself and my thoughts on art/architecture.
Thank you so much for this video, it is so helpful! I am hoping to apply to the Bartlett this year, would you recommend including observational architectural drawings in the portfolio? :)
I personally did not have any because I thought normal observational drawings of other things presented the same skillset. But if you could justify adding them in with more than just pure observational skills I think it'd be great :)

Thank you for loving the video Ella! :) Definitely don't add too much writing to the virtual portfolio, especially if it is descriptive, but you can elaborate more on the ideas. Hello! Thank you so much for making this video, it was very helpful. I have also decided to apply ucl this year and I have quite a limited amount of 3D works for my portfolio where the guidelines said to have more than 3 pieces of 3D works, so I would like to ask if it okay if there's less 3D work than 2D works?
Well if they specifically mentioned it, it's best to check with admissions, although I remember it should be more of a rough guideline so I believe having less 3D is alright :)
I'm applying for Cambridge, Bath, UCL, and Sheffield too this year! (+ Manchester). I know this was posted 2 years ago but does anyone know how I would go about combining things in a portfolio? I've got two short physical portfolios from work experience at architectural companies, coursework from both art and Architecture A-level, work done outside of college (observational work, work inspired by architects, looking at problems in the architecture field etc), notes from art galleries, architectural lectures, and architectural events + competition projects. This will end up being incredibly lengthy but i want it all to be included... Any ideas on how to not accidentally create a PhD? Is it okay for it to be a bit all over the place? (I'm like half way through the video when I post this comment btw)

Hey! I think Bath focuses more on the grades and your personal statement since there’s no portfolio required. Cardiff and Sheffield are kind of in the middle where they focus on both PS and your digital portfolio (where I emphasize on the process of the work). I didn’t choose them in the end because I preferred the bartlett course curriculum more in the end. I mentioned the offers I got in the video, which is all of the schools u mentioned + bartlett and I got 4 A*’s for all my subjects - hope this helps! :) thanks for watching
Yes I applied with my AS grades; they will give you an offer with what A Level Grades they are expecting, same applies to all other unis and courses in the UK.
"If we ask you to send a digital portfolio, combine your pieces into one PDF document. It should be around ten pages and no larger than 10 MB." This is bartlett digital portfolio guideline. But you don't keep this guideline.(Pages of your porfolio is over than 10pages.) Is it fine? or have porfolio guideline changed?
Hello, I believe that the guideline changes every year depending on how the Bartlett wants to do it, so just go with what you think is best for your portfolio!
Hello, I know this seems out of the blue, I'm personally still at Year 12 A level Art. I have a question my portfolio, mostly consists of studying architecture and the response of multiple artists were still in development, but What I'm concerned about is that, most people do different themes, and I'm not sure if staying into one theme would achieve me a higher chance of Entering UCL. I'm also as well, (in the near future) adding a lot of physical designs of buildings, after I seen a glimpse into this video, I'm not really sure if my approach of not adding any other themes would guide me to the Dream Uni I always wanted to go. It would appreciated if somebody can help me out! Thank you!
Hey! I'm doing Biology, Chemistry, and Psychology for A levels. Can I still apply for architecture or would I need maths and art? Im in yr12 and I recently developed an interest in this course. How long does your portfolio have to be and is there a particular format, you need to follow?
art is a recommended subject to take. maths is an absolute requirement by all unis for an architecture degree! if you don't take art, unis usually rely on the standard of the artwork submitted in ur portfolio to judge if you're skilled/creative enough for the course.
for the portfolio can you put ur experimenting with other materials and tour final piece as well ? showing them or explaining after the ideas for the experimenting?
That was amazing. But I do have very important question. Guys we are applying for architecture, then why we should do irrelevant works? For example she she did the amazing bath girl? It’s awesome but this is irrelevant to ARCHITECTURE which is engineering structuring constructing and planning. I’m doing my portfolio and I’m wonder should I add some other art things (not necessarily an engineering one like she did for most of her portfolio)
Hey El Don! Thank you for watching and your nice compliments :) I would say that the most important thing is really to demonstrate your creative thinking process and skills, rather than making the projects seem 'architectural' because it is about the transferrable skills. Hey I want to apply for UCL architecture when I grad high school. But right now as a grd 10 student, I find it difficult to have good grades this year, I’m predicting a 80-90 averge on most subjects this year, giving my more Bs than As probably… do you think this would put me in a big disadvantage? if a book genuinely made an impression on you, you can definitely write about it. I was asked about the books I wrote on my PS during my Cambridge interview, but did not talk about them during my Bartlett interview.
@@glorykuk alright thanks!
Do you think you can include sold paintings in your portfolio? Because then you wouldn't have them physically with you
Honestly, I am not sure. I think you would have to ask the admissions team, but of course if it is a digital portfolio it will be fine!
Glory Kuk Okay, thanks sm! ❤️❤️
Hi after you submitted your portfolio for UCL when did you get offered an interview? Please help LOl
Hi - I don't really remember the actual timings but I think it is around January?
Which universities would you say are more math based vs art based ?
UCL is definitely the most art-based one; Bath is the most engineering-focused one.
What if your doing Engineering Graphics And Design in high school, what can I do to draw good sketches?
Just keep sketching! Only thing you can do the improve is just keep practicing - so whenever you are doing projects, sketch out your ideas to improve your sketching skills!
Do you think it’s necessary to do a physics a level, i want to do graphics and maths but I’m not sure if I should do physics as I don’t rlly enjoy it but I want to get into a good architecture school.
It depends on what architecture school you are going to - Bartlett doesn't require physics, but for example Bath would probably require physics!
Hello may I ask how you created the poster?
I'm assuming you mean the science magazine poster? It was the first time I did digital art so in hindsight I would not use the software I used, but if you want to know it was firealpaca - hope it helps! :)
Hey Glory, I loved your video I've rewatched it at least 10 times, you're work and creative ability are so inspiring! I wanted to ask u if including a few physical pieces or even none would put me at a disadvantage, I've done only one physical piece so far related to interior architecture even tho I think the idea behind it is great, i don't really know if they'd hate it cuz its architectural
Hey just wanted to ask if the internship you did was in the UK if yes then can you pls tell me. Thank you so much
Sorry, it was not from the UK, but hopefully the video was still helpful!
@@glorykuk yes thank you the video was Great!😁
Did UCL require a physical portfolio or are digital portfolios accepted.
It will depend on covid and admissions now, which I am not sure. When I applied it was all physical but I am not sure now.
Hey I want to apply for UCL architecture when I grad high school. But right now as a grd 10 student, I find it difficult to have good grades this year, I’m predicting a 80-90 averge on most subjects this year, giving my more Bs than As probably… do you think this would put me in a big disadvantage? Is grd10 grades really looked at at UCL? I’m striving for a outstanding portfolio though I have not worked on it yet, but I really wanna know if a average (maybe even a bit low??) grd 10 mark will affect me a lot. What grades did u have grd 10-12? (If u don’t mind me asking)
Hi! Thanks for watching :) I'm not sure what type of exams you are taking so I am not sure about the grades you are speaking of :/ However in my opinion I do think Bartlett puts more emphasis on the portfolio compared to the grades, so do strive for a good portfolio! I took A-Levels and I got 4 A*s, but Bartlett only requires AAB. Hope this helps!
you are GLOWING
Thank you sm angel! 🙈😂 really?? No one has ever said that compliment to me before hahaha thank you though 💕🙈
Hi! I'm currently applying to UCL engineering and architectural design, just wanna ask what UCL's requirements for the portfolio were for u. Bc they asked me to provide 10 pages of portfolio. idk whether I should put more pages than 10. Thank you very much
Wow keren de
I thought you were Kuki
And what alevels did you do
Art, Physics, Maths, Further Maths.
