Something to add is that you need to think about what your plans for the future are. I begged for ferrets when I was a freshman in high school and finally did get them. The problem is that I then went away for college and was unable to take my ferrets with me which caused a lot of stress. If I could give younger me advice it would be to think more about that. Thankfully my boyfriend agreed to watch them for me while I'm away so it did turn out ok :)
As a parent of teens and a ferret owner, as I was watching the video, the whole time I was thinking "only older children should have ferrets" and "older children are going to graduate High School during the lifespan of the ferret(s) and you MUST consider what will happen with the ferrets when the child turns 18 and/or moves out... if there's no-plan for post-18 children moving out, there needs to be, or ferrets shouldn't be brought into a home with no plans for their whole life. I'm very glad you pinned this thought in the comments as it's quite possibly the most important thing to consider above all else.

Honestly, this video made me cry. I have one ferret and am trying my very best to show my parents I am responsible and will not make them be responsible for my ferret. I really want another one so my ferret won't be lonely. I go to sleep every night afraid my ferret has depression or is lonely. Fortunately, she has so signs of depression and is very active. Avery Morton You should try playing with your ferret more, not trying to make it sad but ferrets can die of loneliness... that doesn’t mean you need 2 ferrets, just play with your ferret more! But getting another can help! (I don’t have a ferret but I did research so tomorrow I’m asking my parents!)

All I did was do a few months of research and make a schedule for what I would do per day. For the cons I came up with solves that you could do to get rid of cons. I also started doing extra chores in my house so I looked more responsible. I also told my parents that I would pay for all of the ferrets supplies and the ferret and that they would pay for vaccines and emergencies.
Ya thats what i tried with my rabbits and it worked. Oh also with my hamster. This method is pretty good and it works most of the time. I'm talking about making a daily schedule because it just really shows how much you want the pet and that you took the time to brainstorm a whole schedule. Hope that made sense lol. After I save up about $1500 in emergency funds and contact the exotic vets that I've been looking at, I'll be able to finally get my supplies and then my ferrets!!! It's truly been an emotional journey but my advice to you is to continue to be patient and learn as much as you can about them! I have my 2 ferrets, 2 bunnys, 2 rats and a hamster in the same room, i just free roam them seperatly, my hamster and rats get free roamwd 1 hour ( while i get ready for school)i just put a playpen for my hamster in a corner of the room, and my rats get the rest of it ( the playpen has a plastic floor and no lid, but i just put it upside down so the rats dont get to him) my bunnys get free roamed 6-7 hours ( while im in school) and the ferrets get free roamed about 6-7 hours ( when i get home from school until i go to bed) all my cages have lids that i have to lock because my ferrets discoverd how to lift them, luckily i saw them before they got to the hamster👌😬

Please, please don't downplay the hard parts of having ferrets to try to convince your parents. If you leave out the fact that they will almost certainly have a medical emergency or disease at some point (I paid $500 on adrenal within the first few weeks of having mine) and need checkups/repeated vaccinations you won't know if your parents will be willing to help pay for vet bills. If you don't mention how they have an accident on the carpet every now and then even when litter trained or you might need to put pee pads in the corners of the room for them because they just refuse to be litter trained, which does happen, and your parents aren't able to accept that, they may end up in their cage all the time. They CAN be destructive and not get along with other pets. I had to attach a doormat to my carpet with carpet tape because my girls were tearing up a certain spot digging at it, and I have a chronic ankle biter. Basically, they're going to be living in your parent's house, they're going to have to donate money unless you have a real job, and they can end up suffering if your parents aren't fully aware of the cons that come with these amazing but difficult pets- think of them, you can always wait.

I'm not looking to get a Ferret but I do indeed love watching your videos about them and learning about them and how to care for them. I actually found your videos from watching Emiology's rat care videos! She also did a video reacting to that family smellybellytv's rat care video and that brought me to your video on the subject but of ferrets! I'm tempted to watch their videos too just for fun. I am thinking of getting rats in the future and have been finding out how to properly care for them. She says a lot of similar things about rats that you do about ferrets, lots of similarities such as: they must be kept in pairs or groups, they mustn't be bathed, it strips their natural oils (which FYI is also the case for humans which is why bathing every day is not good), they must have a space where they can free play and range every day for multiple hours, best not to leave them alone too long, they have more health problems if bought from a petshop (which we used to do when I was a kid in the 90s, as we didn't know any better back then, we do now) and many more!

Please keep in mind, every time you adopt a pet, expect that life to be in your hands for as long as they live. Expect the worst, and be prepared for all of those horrible situations. They won’t all happen, but they can. There’s always that chance.

I’ve been trying to get my parents to get me ferrets for a while, but my mum doesnt like animals in cages so I’m convincing her by saying well they spend basically all their life out of their cage and that is true
l have ferrets...5 of them and they SHOULD NOT LIVE IN CAGES How cruel is that? Figure out how to keep them in your home or yard....cages are cruel and unnatural. A room with linoleum or tile floor could be easily divided for ferret space. Outside a concrete pad and lots of playspace would be perfect. Why would you keep these animals in cages? Kind of like having a dog and keeping it in a crate. ALL pets need habitats not crate or cage space. If you can't give the pet living conditions that it needs, then don't adopt that animal. And for teens - what are you going to do if you get a ferret or two and then go away to college or whatever when you;re 18? Your commitment to the animal should be like marriage...till death do you part. And all pets do get old, infirm and die. That is part of the adoption process.

Another thing yiu can do is first ask for something they definitely won't say yes to like ask for a giant dog or a tiger lol or a snake or just something they wont day yes to and then make it sound like you're a little upset but then be happy again and ask "ol if I can't have that then what about a ferret?" That seems like a family issue. I’m not sure if points on how great ferrets are will help. Maybe try rationalizing with your sister. If your mom has been convinced before your sister said something I bet you could convince her again. Just make sure your sister isn’t involved in the conversation with her.

My dog isn’t aggressive, but she has a lot of anxiety and will bark if she sees any aspect of danger to me or my family. She has a very deep loud bark. (Not quite howling, but a bit more loud than the average dog.) And my question is if the barking could hurt, or damage my ferret in any way?

moony sky getting from a rescue or responsible breeder is the best options. They are usually the most friendly and healthy there, too.

I'm not looking to get a Ferret but I do indeed love watching your videos about them and learning about them and how to care for them. I actually found your videos from watching Emiology's rat care videos! She also did a video reacting to that family smellybellytv's rat care video and that brought me to your video on the subject but of ferrets! I'm tempted to watch their videos too just for fun. I am thinking of getting rats in the future and have been finding out how to properly care for them. She says a lot of similar things about rats that you do about ferrets, lots of similarities such as: they must be kept in pairs or groups, they mustn't be bathed, it strips their natural oils (which FYI is also the case for humans which is why bathing every day is not good), they must have a space where they can free play and range every day for multiple hours, best not to leave them alone too long, they have more health problems if bought from a petshop (which we used to do when I was a kid in the 90s, as we didn't know any better back then, we do now) and many more!

Please keep in mind, every time you adopt a pet, expect that life to be in your hands for as long as they live. Expect the worst, and be prepared for all of those horrible situations. They won’t all happen, but they can. There’s always that chance.

I’ve been trying to get my parents to get me ferrets for a while, but my mum doesnt like animals in cages so I’m convincing her by saying well they spend basically all their life out of their cage and that is true
l have ferrets...5 of them and they SHOULD NOT LIVE IN CAGES How cruel is that? Figure out how to keep them in your home or yard....cages are cruel and unnatural. A room with linoleum or tile floor could be easily divided for ferret space. Outside a concrete pad and lots of playspace would be perfect. Why would you keep these animals in cages? Kind of like having a dog and keeping it in a crate. ALL pets need habitats not crate or cage space. If you can't give the pet living conditions that it needs, then don't adopt that animal. And for teens - what are you going to do if you get a ferret or two and then go away to college or whatever when you;re 18? Your commitment to the animal should be like marriage...till death do you part. And all pets do get old, infirm and die. That is part of the adoption process.

my dad said i could get a ferret if i fix my grades(barley passing) so now i'm working twice as hard even working on weekends to get my grades up lol

Another thing yiu can do is first ask for something they definitely won't say yes to like ask for a giant dog or a tiger lol or a snake or just something they wont day yes to and then make it sound like you're a little upset but then be happy again and ask "ol if I can't have that then what about a ferret?" And be super happy sounding when you ask them that might help you

Only reason my mom is against me getting ferrets is because she thinks the smell will be a big problem. And her dog killed one of our cat's yesterday so the ferrets would be in my room a majority of the time.
What should i do if my sister likes to tell my mom what animals i can and not get. She said to my mom not to get me ferrets even i know everything i need to know. I also have to space, time and money for them. My mom has agreed multiple times that she'll get me 2 or 3 but because of my sister my mom won't budge. Can you help please?
That seems like a family issue. I’m not sure if points on how great ferrets are will help. Maybe try rationalizing with your sister. If your mom has been convinced before your sister said something I bet you could convince her again. Just make sure your sister isn’t involved in the conversation with her.

My dog isn’t aggressive, but she has a lot of anxiety and will bark if she sees any aspect of danger to me or my family. She has a very deep loud bark. (Not quite howling, but a bit more loud than the average dog.) And my question is if the barking could hurt, or damage my ferret in any way?
