The Messenger is one of my favorite songs by my all time favorite band. It hits hard. Especially the end.

The artist in the ambulance revisited is them re-recording that album as current humans. Definitely listen to both. Rock on 🤘🏼

This song is AMAZING for when I need to motivate myself to do something I’m afraid of (and also running, it’s a ritual for me to end runs with this song if I plan it right). Definitely my favorite by them so I’m happy to finally see a TH-camr reacting to it 😊

My favorite band of all time. So many bangers! My profile pic is of me taking my son to his first Thrice concert when he turned 9.

Please do the band Finch. Song called Insomniatic Meat. Or the songs Brother bleed brother, or the song Dreams of psilocybin. Or hopefully all three. Hope you love them. They are off the album “Say Hello to Sunshine”. Rock on brother can’t wait to watch more videos!

It took me years to get into this album (these albums? LPs?). I really didnt like it at first cause it was so different that what they did previously. I was just a stupid kid back then, cause damn.. Alchemy Index is now one of my favorites. It's especially cool and interactive listening to on vinyl cause eash of the elements are its own vinyl... you gotta get up to change it from Fire to Water etc. Really makes you appreciate the different themes and reprises throughout. Fuckin killer!

Thrice are legends, you have some great taste and so do your fans. You NEED to check out Glassjaw, another legendary post-hardcore band with some true classic records under their belt. I recommend "You Think You're John Fucking Lennon" or "Shira", but you can't go wrong with literally any of their music. Great channel and video!

In the mid 00s, for a very short phase I was listening to hardcore: Madball, Agnostic Front, Strife; etc. And someone mentioned this band as being "hardcore". When I heard Thrice, to me they're about as hardcore as Hoobastank. Haha. Anyway, not my style of music to listen to. But to each their own. If someone likes Thrice, more power to ya!

That someone should probably never be listened to again lol. Thrice has some hardcore elements mixed in from time to time, but they have elements of a myriad of styles and genres.
They started as more of a punk rock style band.. I would even say with skate punk influences. I believe they were in high school. By Artist in the Ambulance, they were mixing in more elements of early metalcore. Maybe a little emo. Still a lot of punk. Some alt rock. Some psych rock. It was approachable while being unique still. And very creative and thoughtful. Very very soon after that album they started their morph into an edgy and hard rock / metal version of 90's and 2000's "post rock". As the years have gone on, they have leaned HARD into post rock. This wiki quote on post rock literally summarizes Thrice as well.. "Post-rock is a form of experimental rock characterized by a focus on exploring textures and timbre over traditional rock song structures, chords, or riffs."
Songs like this one lean a lot more into metalcore, but you can pick out that post rock influence. Shane even says in this reaction "all the instruments are doing different things but they fit together well". Thrice has mastered that. And they are one of the very very few bands that you HAVE to listen over and over again to each song and dive deeper and deeper. Most of the lyrics have double meanings and most of the songs have so many layers that it's impossible to understand the feel and cadence even on first listen.
If you enjoy a listening experience that isn't on the nose like Hardcore, demands a deeper thought process to appreciate, and always leave you feeling like you just heard something for the first time.. maybe not the exact sound, but at least the arrangement, then give Thrice a good hard chance. The Alchemy Index series is a wonderful place to start. "The concept is split into four separate elements (fire, water, air and earth), with each one consisting of six songs and lasting under half-an-hour in length. The closing tracks of each volume are sonnets, laid out in traditional English form." Iambic Pentameter to be exact. It's a very fun and unique listen.

@@mazaggie very well said! This is one of my favorite thrice songs and I’m so glad he played it. A lot of their stuff is excellent but I feel this song is a hidden gem that many people pass on or don’t know. It’s short, brutal af (probably one of their heaviest songs) and Dustin’s voice is excellent. I see them live every time time play in LA or OC.
