Chorus has grown on me. Remember, when Vheissu came out, people didn't like it. Now it's considered their magnum opus.
My favorite Thrice song is For Miles, by far. Love the buildup. It's such a fun listen.
This one's definitely growing on me. That ending melody has been in my head ever since I heard it. Excited to learn it!
Also, I'd have to vote 'Eclipse' as my favorite Thrice track.

This has to be the best song I’ve heard from them in a long time.. I LOVE that this song reminds me of the very first album blended with their new style so so well
This song is epic imo. The unconventional structure, the hooky chorus and that outro. Thrice staying together and making this quality music is making the world a better place and making my life much more enjoyable.
Yes, I first got introduced to this band while I was searching for post-hardcore bands to listen to like Quicksand or The Fall of Troy. The Artist in The Ambulance is one hell of a record. Their whole catalogue is absolutely amazing, and its great that you try to be objective with your criticisms of Thrice out of love for the band. Vheissu literally changed my life tho, especially with songs like Stand and Feel Your Worth. In almost every regard in terms of musicianship they got it in the bag! Thank you for your reviews man

Favorite song by them the abolition of man. Like the new music but will always love the old post hardcore material

Totally agree about Thrice's B-sides. So many of my favorite Thrice songs were B-Sides. That hideous strength, answered, Red telephone, flags of dawn, weight of glory etc. Good stuff man 👍
Seems our first impressions were nearly identical. However, on repeated listening this song has only gotten better to me, to the point where it's easily in the top 10 now. The whole thing is so well engineered to the message. These guys never disappoint.

The evolution of Thrice has always blown me away. They make the music they want to make. And Dustin is and always will be my favorite vocalist and lyricist.
In terms of songs, "Open Water" and "A Song for Milly Michaelson" are favorites. Everything from Alchemy Index was fascinating though.
The bridge gave me goosebumps.

To wake and avenge the dead - I always love your reactions man, and after your last video the honest conversations one, feels like I can relate to you way more and it makes the reactions more enjoyable, like I'm really listening to a new song with a buddy! I didn't know about Thrice before your channel and I love the variety of what you react to! I respect what you're doing and keep it up man, I'll be glad to keep up with you more.

I’ve never really listened to Thrice, but I liked this! Any one have any recommendations on where in their discography I should start?
Vheissu is maybe they're best album when it comes to balancing the heavy and beautiful. But every album have something unique with them and they are all good so you have allot of great music to dive into.
Artists in the ambulance
Check vheissu out, it’s a good blend of their discography. After that, I would go wherever you feel your taste guides you. I’m more of a newer sound guy, like Palms and To Be Everywhere albums
Maybe Artist then Vheissu so you can enjoy the massive leap they took between those records. You wont go wrong no matter where you start!
A lot of people will tell you to check out their early records, but given what they are these days I wouldn't necessarily recommend going any further back than Vheissu.
Artist In The Ambulance is a great record, but they don't sound like that any more whereas there's still a throughline from Vheissu to their current material imo.

A song not on any of those, but which is an absolute must listen, is Beyond The Pines.
Two Thrice comments in 2 videos… I must be one of “those” fans! 😉 Love that you’re giving these guys courage, haven’t seen anyone talking about this. They’re one of my favourite bands too and one that more people NEED the joy of experiencing.

I just heard this song for the first time on their AITA Revisited Tour . . . I was like "Damn, I don't know this song but holy shit it rips!"
It reminds me of a harmony, all comes together and resolves at the end
Thrice is amazing, every album something changes in how they play but somehow I’m dragged into falling In love with their new style
That hook is very un-Thrice-like. I love it in a weird way. This harkens back to Beggars days, which is not a bad thing.

This track from them has only gotten better and better upon every listen. If they play it live it’s one of those tracks that sets it up for a wild pit then chill.
I love Thrice as much as I love Coheed. These two bands are truly innovators

To awake and avenge the dead!! I think everyone feels like the chorus is odd at first. But damn... The end is colossal.. I think it's pretty unanimous at this point. Btw BIRB! I've always said that if I was able to make a band someday I would like to make something in the veins of Vheissu. Maybe a little heavier. I'm waiting for ur call man. I'm ready to record vox. 😅
Just getting into Thrice lately because of you and as well as a deep dive to the og emo groups, checked out the ambulance album and its amazing, also surprising loved this song with the layers that kept adding around that spinning chorus, just worked perfectly.
Also not sure if you're a fan of Porcupine tree but they're releasing their first album in a long time, just released their third single if you're interested called Herd Culling , it's short for a prog band song but says single edit. Just in general if you're a fan of prog like you are Fear of a blank planet is a phenomenal album as well as Steven Wilson's solo albums raven that refused to sign and hand cannot erase. This is so much better than 90% of the last record. Which could be interpreted as damning with faint praise since I *really* don't like Horizons East, but this is a really good song.

Hoo damn, "that ending though" indeed. What a dope track. Thrice has always been one of my all-time faves. If I'm ever not too chicken shit to get tatted, I'd be getting a Thrice tattoo haha. They've got a knack for doing this thing where they build up the whole track and then explode for the ending, and I love it when they do. For a track that was the "same progression the whole song" as you said, I wasn't bored throughout the track at all. I kinda disagree about the chorus? It was very La Dispute-y, but I love that band/genre too so I dig that style.
👍for jamming "Deadbolt" at the beginning there, and also "To Awake and Avenge the Dead" is still my fave Thrice track even 20 years later (god I'm old lol).
Yea man this was a surprise. Like the band's from their beginning (Misery Signals, Glassjaw, etc) took me back to those days.
Yeah I hated that chorus/hook at first. Super jarring and off putting but the track grew on me. The love for Thrice is too strong.
I haven’t enjoyed an entire album since AITA and even Vheissu only had a couple songs I really liked. Since then only Black Honey. It makes me sad, they’re were my fav band for a hot minute but this style is just not for me. They took just about everything I loved and left it in the past 😂
Tbh its the same as BFMV. Up to SAF is amazing, then each new album seemed to have fewer and fewer songs I liked. I’m glad they still have a ton of fans that do love it still
