Thanks Dustin, you should definitely look into getting an utlralight. It's a ton of fun to fly! Don't need a license (so no annual medical, no check rides), don't need to register plane. Caveats to it are, they are very light so wind pushes them around very easily and it's terrifying in winds greater than 5 knots! You can't fly at night or cross country, and you can't fly passengers around :( I hope to get a light sport pilots license in the future and get a 2 seater aircraft. But if you are just looking to get in the air, it's a perfect idea! If you can fly these small things, you can fly anything! I think bigger aircraft are easier to handle and wind doesn't effect them as much, so after you get training flying these you are an excellent pilot!
I have had nothing but positive experiences so far! The Calvada Meadows community is very accommodating. I live in Vegas and was originally trying to fly at Boulder City municipal but there was just so much red tape and traffic there and it seemed overwhelming for a new ultralight flyer. It was also by chance I found Calvada, because one day it was windy in Vegas area so I looked at my wind app and it showed no wind here so I drove out there with the plane on the trailer and ran into a gentleman that lives here at the airport and he was so welcoming so it caused me to come back and now I just have my plane here. I have gotten to know several people in this community and they are extremely helpful. It's quite here, very little traffic, most days i fly I'm usually the only one out here it feels.
@@P1X3L4T3D-FPV Very Cool! We are in Vegas as well and in the process of doing a ground up restoration on a Cessna 150, I was looking for a place thats a little more laid back than here in town to do some flying. We have been out there a few times and like it. Maybe we will cross paths soon!
