By the way is it safe to turn on the RC transmitter before turning on the hoverboard mainboards? Does the car "run away" in case you don't strictly follow the turn on sequence? In my case my platform started driving on its own and didn't react to any commands from the RC transmitter if I turned on the devices in wrong sequence :-)
thank you my friend. I have the Arduino nano in between which also has some kind of fly away security enabled so it shouldn't drive away but as you can see in the video I was holding my hand on the tank just in case
@@atc1441 Do I get it right that the only thing you changed it the platformio config was to set the control to -D CONTROL_SERIAL_PROTOCOL and define the USART port you wanted to use?
Hi, my hoverboard motors just vibrate when I try and control them via arduino or potentiometer. I tried this with two differents ESCs. Would you happen to know a fix to this?

@@atc1441 Whether u r using 2 stm for right and left motors or for front and back motors ( I thought u r using for left and right motors each 2 motors = 1 stm (lft right))

Schon super wie die Massenfertigung von eigentlich relativ komplexer/teurer Hardware und Niklas Engagement einem ermöglicht solche Projekte relativ leicht und erschwinglich umzusetzen. Vor 10 Jahren hätte man locker 3x mehr Geld/Zeit investieren müssen!
Die fernbedienung ist von hier www.thingiverse.com/thing:3133640 dann aber noch für das st7789 display etwas abgeändert. Leider ist der billig joystick nicht gut, siehe dazu mein anderes video.

Mich würde die Dynamik der Motoren mit der "Custom-Software" interessieren. Für maximale Dynamik müsste ein abtourendes Rad gebremst werden und im Stillstand kurzgeschlossen sein (lässt sich dann nur schwer von Hand durchdrehen). Die original Hovertboard-SW liefert höchste Dynamik und echte Drehmomentsprünge, sowie geringste (kaum messbare / wahrnehmbare) Umschaltzeiten Vor/Rück. Das geht leider aus den ansonsten gut gemachten Videos nicht hervor. Ich bleibe daher skeptisch was die "Custom-Software" angeht... Ich habe das für mein 4WD-Projekt anders gelöst, indem ich direkt die Motorcontroller mit einer USART ansteuere, wobei die SW auf dem HB-Motorcontroller unverändert ist: th-cam.com/video/v_-ZDsJZhyY/w-d-xo.html
Moin, die Motoren mit der Custom Software haben eine sehr gute Dynamik, du kannst von voll speed vorwärts auf voll speed rückwärts gehen. dies kann man hier relativ gut sehen: th-cam.com/video/bM1DU87ujeA/w-d-xo.html dort aber mit nur 25% leistung aktiviert. Die Firmware ist sehr umfangreich und kann auch gut editiert werden um auch z.b. das Aktive Bremsen mit einzubauen. Also ich kann es wirklich nur empfehlen anzusehen.

Where did you get the little plates for mounting the axles? Are these parts you can buy somewhere?

I gave up trying to find hackable hoverboard controller and just purchased 12-60V BLDC driver boards with encoder input,. Wish me luck.

As I remember arduino
espberrypi has only 1 UART, how did you connect 2 hoverboards to it?
On Arduino they can be connected in parallel.
On raspberry you could create one software UART

Hi you can just use one board with the code just leave one side unconnected.
