3x is three batteries. Same configuration as many Hallmark ornaments that take button cell batteries. They stack in there with the flat side on the spring.

3 of those cylinder/button type batteries not laying flat....sideways and fill it up with them. I've had stuff with "watch type" batteries...just place them like you're making a tootsie roll. Just a guess.

The battery looks like either a cylinder battery as you said, or to stack watch batteries, they wouldn’t go sideways like you had shown...

Think the 3X means stack 3 of the LR44 on top of each other. Have had to do this with some older calculators.

Take your doll into a batteries Plus store (if you have them) they should be able to look and Id what battery you need. Or try stacking the batteries.. mom loves solar lights and often they are stacked in together

No the smaller disk battery is the right thing, 3x stands for 3 of them back to back in the slot. The LR44 looks like it might not be wide enough but it’s hard to tell.

Lol. I saw comps of it selling well with no box and no plastic. Regardless, that’s why buying in lots is important...it mitigates mistakes if you have other valuable items that will sell.
