You need vitamin d to grow, which I'm taking pills of vitamin d rn because I'm short asf and I might start my period soon. Chores: His mom died, he has to do the housekeeping

Him just hearing them discussing what is happening and what happens next and having goals like "finding the sea" and then it pans to him just there listening to them, I find it amazing cause idk when I saw it it felt like he was looking out for them in a way and like he is there to protect them in some way and I just absolutely love that scene
he’s also probably reminded of the night him farlan and isabel sat and watched the stars talking about living on the surface in the OVA

Out of all the characters , he has one of the most saddest childhood . Like he had to watch his mother physically and emotionally deteriorate for over days because of sickness without being able to provide any help . And then after she died , he probably was with his mother's dead body for some time as well . Like that's so messed up - being a kid , watching your mom slowly die , and then living in that room with a dead body while you yourself begin to slowly deteriorate . And then the only person who probably knew your mother and took care of you leaves without saying a word , leaving you to physically and emotionally fend for yourself against attackers and your own thoughts . And then despite the tragedies and hardships he went through as a child , teen , adult , and as captain - he hasn't lost his humanity .
