This is another Philly classic that’s still played at family reunions and bbqs! Happy Birthday, Luca! 🎈
This was my junior high graduation theme song. Yes, I'm an AARP Member.😂 I also remember this as the entrance theme song of Heavyweight Champion Larry Holmes. Probably, the last hit of Philly International Records.
Reached #1 on the US R&B chart 1979!!
edit -McFadden, Whitehead and Leon Huff wrote "Back Stabbers" by The O'Jays!! That should be your next O'Jays song!!
-#cheers-- !-
Yes, that or I Love Music
This is a true classic, as good today as it was when originally released. An absolute floor filler. Just goes to show you cant beat quality.
I worked security at a large nightclub in the 80's. It was always a problem getting people to leave when the club closed...until the DJ stated playing the instrumental version of this song. His comment was "You ain't got to go home but you got to get the hell outa here!" Watching the people lined up dancing to the door was a pleasant sight and my tired feet appreciated it too!
I knew you all would love this tune! Dancing all the way…. nonstop! “We got the groove!”
Happy Birthday Luca!!💕💫💕💫
"We got the groove" there is such a song by the band Players Association 🙂
RIP Gene McFadden & John Whitehead
This duo was fortunate in 1979. They almost boarded Flight 191
I looked it up. Wow, just horrible.
That was the short version. The long version showcases more vocals, he really goes off with the adlib too. This was a mega hit & still timeless. Thanks! Happy Birthday, Luka!! He's my cousin. lol! 🎂
+ Bell & James: "Livin' It Up (Friday Night))" 🤘🤘
@@SonicProfessor_a.k.a._T._Andra Oh man, I love that song!
@@sallyphillips9175 So do *I*! 🤘🤘
@@sallyphillips9175 It's a perfect 🤷🤷 ..."adjunct" to this song, too!🤘🤘
Brothers Johnson and Stomp!
This is how we welcomed in the 80's. We danced and skated to this song until our feet hurt. And at the clubs they had the nerve to put on an extended play version. Yeah, we had fun.😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉😅😅😅
One of my favorites! Its on my dance list :) I can tell when J says "hey" and Amber smiles, and you both dance in your seats, that its one you like ;) You are both music icons now 🎶😁
Nailed it!🌟
Some real 70s music, let's goo !!
In 1979 and 1980, This song was the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies theme song. They even changed the lyrics to fit each team. Great song at the disco too. Loved dancing the hustle to it. I also wanted to tell you both how much I enjoy all your reactions, family, music and movies. How precious and beautiful you all are. God Bless You All!!!
The Boston Celtics did the same when going for the championship in the early 80s
My family are all 4 sports Philly season ticket holders and loved it when Eagles and Phillies used this song.
It was the Sixers song too, not sure what year!
St. Louis Steamers too.
@@celestehunter686 You're right!
This song was an anthem in the late '70's. A true banger!
This song is definitely a whole vibe in itself! Glad you loved it!! Happy Birthday Luca!!!
McFadden & Whitehead known more for their writing songs for TSOP (The Sound Of Philadelphia) & many artists such as the O'Jays. Please check out some O'Jay songs like "I Love Music" & "Used To Be My Girl". I believe the female backup singers in the video were the Three Degrees. Checkout their hit "When Will I See You Again". Also "Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now" was a million selling record! 😎
Used to be My Girl...💞🎶😁💃
Always loved this song but never saw the video. As soon as it started I thought, "Hey! That's the Three Degrees!" Thanks for confirming.
"Ain't No Stopping Us Now" was the only single by these Philadelphia International in-house songwriters (for other artists) that charted on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking @ #13 in 1979. The duo peaked "ANSUN" @ #1 on the R&B chart and #10 on the Disco/Dance chart. A few other titles by the duo made the R&B chart & one made a slight blip on the Disco chart. The song was featured in the movie "Boogie Nights" at the beginning of the 1979 New Year's Eve party. The optimistic "the best is yet to come" in 1980 vibe of the song, ironically leads to tragic developments as the scene progresses. Great movie.
This has always been a funky disco tune that makes me smile every time I hear it. If there is any song that deserves a 12" extended version, it's this one. This puppy needs to hit the 20 minute mark!
This was such a heavy duty cut! It was just a inspirational song and I liked how Whitehead danced when they performed. So much energy.
All Time Classic love it McFadden and Whitehead
I was selling double glazing at the time in the UK, we we're door knocking in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Northumberland and it started snowing, lovely. On our way back to our base in Leeds, West Yorkshire we stopped of at a motorways services, I put this on the jukebox and our team was off. We were on the tables and all over the café, our manager looked at me amazed as this had only just been released in the UK, and his look said 'hey where this White Boy get his groove from'.
He mentioned it as we got back to the car, I told him what clubs I'd used in the past and was using then, he understood. I was 22yoa and had been clubbing from 16yoa. 64 now and do what I call stick dancing now 😂😂
Lol, oh that story took me back to door knocking around West Yorkshire in the ‘70’s. It’s been a long road since then, but the music still hits. ✌️
This really is a great song to start the day with. The message is great and the groove is impeccable.
One of my all time faves! AN ABSOLUTE CLASSIC! So glad you guys love it too. 🙂
This is a Philly anthem. It was the "Phillies 1980 World Series" song. They are from Philadelphia
Song was a staple at every backyard family get together when I was growing up! ❤
And if you need uplifting later on in the Day.The sounds of blackness and “I’m going all the way” and a great message . Have a lovely day one and all ❤
What an anthem!
This is song is such a classic! Definitely a roller rink favorite! ❤❤❤
This was my high school graduation song back in 79! Classic R and B song with the Philly sounds 🔥 HBD Lucas 🎈❤
This was a hood anthem back in the day. At the cookout, the wedding, you name it. Can you guys consider doing the video and song to “Everybody Dance Now” by C&C Music Factory with vocals by Martha Wash and rap by Freedom Williams. Happy Birthday, Luka! 🎉
Classic jam
I was in Jr high school, the first time I heard this on the radio, still a great jam 🎸🎸🎸 happy birthday Luca 🎉🎈🎂🎂 many more happy and healthy birthdays to come
This was the block party jam back in the late 70's. Now all we need now is the classic "In The Rain" by Orange Juice Jones (The guy's anthem) and also "La La La Means I love You" by the Delfonics (Smooth as heck)
This was boxer Larry Holmes entrance music. This was made during the disco era and it was one of the LONGEST extended versions good lawd! 😅
Happy 2nd Birthday Luca! 🎂 I've been here since before he was born when you had the rainbow brick background and still here because you are my favorite reactors and genuinely lovely people. 🥰
I was born in 1972. There was a time when you could hear great songs like this on the radio anytime and all the time. Side note 70's songs had some of the greatest basslines.
They wrote songs for The Intruders , O’ Jays & Harold Melvin And The Blue Notes.
Thanks for this one guys. If you get a chance they have a 7 minute version of this song you could check out. Happy 2nd birthday little bruh ❤
I love the music but happy birthday To the darling baby boy and yes I’ve been around since the beginning, before the baby and before Amber! And it’s been a blast seeing both of you and your family grow and enjoying so much your reaction channel… Great entertainment and makes the day complete😊
Oohhh MAN!!!! 🗣OWWWWWW!!! There was a version for the Philadelphia Phillies in 1980! 🧢⚾️Memories baby, MEMORIES!💥❤🔥🌟
LoL I can just envision everyone roller skating to this song. 😂
Happy birthday to him and i hope he's enjoyed his day
Amber & Jay, this song 🎶 was a one ☝️ hit wonder n it was played on all the radio 📻 stations n party's 🎉. This was basically a song 🎶 that would tell the young people that U can't be stop 🛑 if U put ur mind 🧠 to ur task. They played this at Roller Rink's 🛼 people were jamming it in their cars 🚗 n back then they were breaking dancing 🕺 to it in all the corners. Luv ❤️ my good ole days. Wish U guys could have experience what I went thru as a kid 👦 growing up in the Windy 🌬️ City 🌃 aka Chi-town aka Chicago.
Welcome back to the Sound of Philadelphia. Got to keep diving into it. Great songs from this era.
I didn't think I knew this song since I've never heard of McFadden and Whitehead, but then it started playing and I recognized it right away. So shout out to those guys! I know who they are now.
Classic "Philly Sound". Can't go wrong with any McFadden & Whitehead or Gamble & Huff song. Can't sit/stand still when they're playing either! Many others you can choose from and check out. Keep up the great reactions y'all.
What an uplifting message. R&B disco rules: Violin craziness & insane bass. Rythm & orchestral music combined. An unique universal crossover. Those guys are so cool
This joint pulls you out to the dance floor ...
This song is a mainstay on WDAS in Philly. The late great Joe ‘Butterball’ Tamburro used to rock this every Sunday night on his show which still carries on in his honor… Honestly, I’ve heard the song so much, it’s played out to me but hearing it a few times a year ain’t bad. It’s one of the greatest songs to ever come out of Philly and I’ll always be proud of that fact. TSOP FOREVER!! 😎
One of my first vinyls I bought as a 12 yr old. This was such a skating song!
One of the best songs ever in the disco era. A drop dead banger
I think you will like: Ollie & Jerry "Breakin'... There's No Stopping Us" and The Bar-Kays "Freakshow On The Dance Floor" songs are cool. And the movie "Breakin" is a fun watch. Plus "The Staple Singers" have an impressive catalogue.
Loved this song❤
You guys played the short version! The album version was 7 minutes long with some nice breaks! Now the 12 inch version clocked in at 10 minutes 30 seconds. This is something you don't see as much with currently music the tracks extended for for the clubs. There were lots of track that went 10 minutes plus. Not sure if you checked out Funkadelics part of the p-funk movement but they had two monster hits with club version that wore you out if you dance the entire track "One Nation Under a Groove" that clocked in around 11 minutes and "Knee Deep" 15 minutes and 20 seconds!🫨
YES!!!
This song always reminds of me of my teen years, summers driving around the neighborhood with my friends with nothing much to do, singing "ask them where they're going, they don't know!"
Best times ever.
I've loved this song since it was released and it's on my "Positivity" playlist. I listen to this at least once a week. I know that your mother is well-acquainted with this song, Amber. Happy Birthday to Luca! Proud to share my birthday with him.
McFadden and Whitehead were in Chicago on May 25, 1979, promoting their music and doing various interviews. Because they agreed to do one more music interview at the last minute, they decided to reschedule their flight to Los Angeles to the next day, May 26. They were originally scheduled to fly on American Airlines Flight 191 on May 25, which crashed shortly after takeoff from O'Hare International Airport, killing all 258 passengers plus the crew. They got lucky that day...
When I saw the title I knew y'all would love this song. This is a very powerful song with inspiration and real talk about life.
This reminds me of the disco era. I wish that music should come back.
I'm 56 now and I was in 5th grade when this came out- still a banger!!!
Sheer classic. Played this soooo many times back in the day (7”, 12”, extended cut or album version).
This is Larry "The Easton Assassin" Holmes, heavyweight champion's entrance music. (1978-1985 second longest champion behind Joe Louis)
This has to be the most positive feel-good song ever ❤❤❤
This dropped in the spring of 1979, the yr I graduated HS, & the legal drinking age was 18. This was a bit of an anthem, and dancing to this in the disco was magical!! 🎉✨️🪩💃🪩
Absolutely. Ditto from Beantown.
I was 8 in 1979. Was there much protests when the drinking age was raised? Being that young I had no clue about drinking 😅
When you make a list of songs that encapsulate the disco era, this one stands out! Classic! And 2 year old Luca? Whaaaaaaat? Have a great day!
Always, always, always loved this song! Thank you!
As a child, I remember this song being played by all of the morning radio DJs in the 80s to get you pumped up to go to work or school ❗❕❗
The perfect "adjunct"/"match" to this is:
Bell & James'
hit: "Livin' It Up (Friday Night)".🔥🔥🔥🔥
Another "disco-funk"/soul record from 1978 [just a few months before McFadden & Whitehead released THIS].
Turn out your next party with: Bell & James' classic: "Livin' It Up (Friday Night)"!! 🤘🤘 - Dance-floor BANGER!
--Happiest of Birthdays, dear Luka!!
May this world you've stumbled into [my apologies: I've done what I could... but not enough, apparently! 🙉🙈🙊🤷] becoming MUCH better than it is NOW, for having YOUR presence IN it
(I am confident that it WILL!)! ⚡🤘🤘
You listened to an edit (shortened) version!!‼ 🤦🤦 - You F'ed up! 🙄🤦 🤷♀🤷♀🤷
You could call this the finale of the Philly soul era!! What was great was, this came out when many of the Philly sports teams were at their best! The Phillies won their 1st world series in 1980, the Eagles went to their 1st Super Bowl the same year, and the 76ers won the NBA championship in 1983!! You Cannot Imagine how much this song was played!! LOL!!
They are a duo out of the fame studio known as "The Sound of Philadelphia." The Philadelphia Sound had groups like the Stylistics, Delfonics, Blue Magic, Harold Melving and the Blue Notes with Teddy Pendergrass and the 3 Degrees. Came out back in 1979. Awesome! Congratulations on your son's Lucas 2nd Birthday.
All with the same musicians called MFSB. These guys did such great work for so many artists. There's a much longer version, you should check out.
Best memories!! What a tune!!!!!
I remember dancing to this in the disco's back in 1980, just passed my driving test and going forward, great vibe and very happy memories, we certainly had good music back then!
Ooooh I love this song!! 😊❤thanks guys!!
This song is an anthem. Shout out to RMSH class of 1980. Gryphons 4ever Baby!!!
This is one of my dads favourite songs and his go to karaoke song and now my 12 year old son loves it. You can’t beat music from the 70’s :-)
Great song
Classic late 70's & early 80's !!! This is a Dance Floor Hit !! Happy Birthday Baby Luca !!!!
An awesome R&B classic that I've liked as long as I can remember. My mother and sister are even bigger fans of this song. In fact, my sister danced to it with her son (my nephew), at his wedding, as a sort of mother/song dance. A really cool moment.
i Absolkutely LOVE this song!!! It's been sooooo long since I've heard it!!
This is the moving song. Get up and dance and I still move to this song being 72years ago
Puts a smile on my face.❤😊
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LUCA🎈🎉🎶🎂. Wow, it's been a fast 2 years. I've been watching since you were preg. with him.
This is a song that makes you get up out of your seat and dance, or at the least, dance in your chair. It's a happy, fun song. So glad you got to this one.
Can't deny it, my generation had the best feel good music. It's funny how most reaction channels say they wish the were around in this music time period. No one says they don't like this music.
I'm appreciative that you are now incorporating it more into your listening pleasure. This is positive motivational and cook out music. 🎶🎶
Thanks for playing more 60's and 70's songs.
This was my moms favorite song! I can still see her getting down to this jam! Miss you mama! Rest eternally! ❤❤❤
This one one of the first 45 singles I ever bought. And I wore that thing out, I'm tellin' ya!!! Love this song!!! This song is still huge in St. Louis, it was also the goal song for the St. Louis Steamers indoor soccer team in the 80s.
Best bass line in the history of ever!! This song is 🔥!!
behind YYZ
@@AugfordpdoggieI can’t stand Rush, so I’ll take M&F all day every day.
Certainly one of the most memorable. Thank you Jimmy Williams.
Golden era of grooving Bass greats. Bernard Edwards, Louis Johnson, Rocco Prestia, Bobby Vega, Leon Sylvers, Mark Adams, Verdine White...
I will put this up there with Chic's Good Times.. what a great couple of years for funk/disco bass players!
A oldie but a goodie! 💃🏼♥️
I'm obsessed with this song! I love the, fun, upbeat, disco sound of it so much! This was my very first time seeing the music video and I thought it was so fun with all the dancing in it! Happy belated birthday, Luca!
My 8th Grade Graduation Dance Theme! Catholic School 1979.❤
I can’t believe Luca is 2. I remember when you were pregnant. Happy Birthday sweet little boy!
YES!!!!!! Hitting the good stuff now!!!! This is one of the first 12” albums I ever bought. It is known as a black anthem (grew up listening to Urban Radio in NYC) ❤❤❤ PLEASE react to D TRAIN’s “KEEP ON” another BANGER with an uplifting message 🔥
❤ The bomb off the hoooook 😍
That 70's sound! 💥
Outstanding session studio musicians reading and playing their designated music/sheets/arrangements, true professionals!

This was such a fun roller skating song.
Oh I love this tune. Thanks!
Aww. Happy birthday Luca!! He's so dang CUTE!❤️
Love love love this song!❤ it's great to workout to, high-energy😅
Still remember every word ...it was out around the same time as earth wind and fire’s Boogie Wonderland in 1979, I still have the 12 inch
What a groove!
