i bought T Cross and i have to tell you it's a beautiful car, very easy to drive and pretty much have almost everything you need from a car even in the basic edition
I love my T-Cross incredibly economical and super responsive, I have had it for 3 weeks. I agree with your review and it was really informative thanks.
As new as the t-cross can be ( including new safety tech) , certainly for most people buying a small SUV practicality and Reliability will come first as per the amount of money spent. At the end of the day , Japanese cars at this level will be a better choice than German cars. Good review by the way .
I have 2002 Hinda Stream 1.7L with almost 200.000 milliage. The most costly repair is when the power steering was leaking. the cost's about $200.... Until now i am still happy with my stream. Do You have a HONDA?
I've never owned a Honda but I have considered getting it and this model as well! I want to get something that I know will last because Honda and Toyota (for the most part) have proven their longevity and reliability with time.
I dont disagree I have a work colleague who has had two brand new Golfs one 2010 and one 2014, the 2010 several DSG issues and recalls though nothing that left him stranded, the 2014 started leaking coolant just after the warranty finished (plastic water pump i believe was the issue) but VW to their credit fixed this under goodwill. These reviews are new car reviews they dont really look at the after warranty period, if I was buying a used car I dont think i would consider VW even though they are nice to drive.
Mark Atkinson Most of the complaints I have heard was from people who in turn heard from their friends or relatives. It’s very rare the owner himself complains! It’s become more like perception now than actually issues being there. There were definitely issues 10 years ago when VW group started electrifying everything in the cars and with the DSG. Most of the tech was new and ran into issues but now they are as good as any other manufacturer.
My Passat wagon exhaust sensor failed, then the starter motor failed, then water leaks came into the front footwells, then the tyre pressure sensors started reading all wrong. All were expensive fixes and now the dash that was pulled apart to find leaks, is creaking like crazy. Not happy Jan 😞
@@kensouza9239 Well that is true in my case, though still factual i have seen both cars, and the person in question was a very close workmate, both cars brand new and bought through novated lease, he went a Kia Cerato GT after his 2 VW experiences. I could probably get a direct quote from the owner if it would make my comment more credible. How about this go to a mechanic or car forum and ask if the two issues I mentioned are factual or not, I know what answer you will get. Having said all this I am currently shortlisting my next car and a Golf R is on that list.
If you go for a two or three year lease, either of these small SUVs are fine. If the intent is to purchase and keep one of these vehicles for more than five years, the 2021 Honda HR-V EX AWD was my choice.
Had a HR-V for a year now and the only thing that lets it down for me is the media screen, which is the pits. Oh, and the relatively small range - tank needs refilling all the time. Otherwise, a wonderful car.
how about reliability wise? and part costs? service costs? I think it would be a greater comparison if these were added, as it is what we consumers will be having to deal with after getting it.. especially for the long term.
Why comparing HR-V to T-Cross? Isn't more reasonable comparing it to the T-Roc? Indeed, T-Cross' lenght is 411cm, while T-Roc's is 424 and HR-V's 433cm
Thank you for the perfect review and handy details. I have a question if you please! I have a 2.0 TDI passat, would I feel a big difference in driving and speed if I buy a T-Cross?! PS I love to speed up and cruise!
VW is just more up to date as far as infotainment is concerned. Other than that, it got more budget feeling hard and scratchy plastic all over the cabin. The Honda on the other hand feels more premium as there is no nasty plastic on all touch surfaces throughout the cabin.
I am awaiting delivery for my T-Cross 1.0 TSI DSG , swapping it for my Seat Ibiza 1.2 TSI which I've had since new and the engine is as good as it was 4 years ago. The TSI is an amazing engine and IMO using the correct synthetic oil on services will last as long as bigger engines.
I'm confused. The VW has hard scratchy plastics and it feels more premium? Not a dig but are we only worried about tech nowadays? Rear cross traffic alert is handy but all the other tech is to nanny those of us who are horrible drivers. Honestly, how hard is it to stay in your own lane? Whats wrong with a "limit" function, dynamic cruise control is like a nanny has taken over driving, brakes when it gets the slightest hint of another car that gets close to your lane etc. I use the speed limiter in the Escape all the time and it's perfectly adequate.
I agree. More tech, more chances of failure. How many times inexperienced pilots crash their planes because they had in auto-pilot and had no clue how to fly without automated controls.
One of the worst resale value brands. I don’t care they have a 10 year powertrain warranty, doesn’t mean anything when it’s always in the shop getting repairs
@@gnrfront good thing is they are less often in for repairs than other brands, reliability among the best now. Also, kia resale is going through the roof. Its the brand to choose, best performing car by a mile, good resale, among the best reliability.
@@bartonez123 what about safety? I heard it got a 3 star rating by the NCAP. Definitely scratched out of my list. Also, the leg room in the back seats is not top tier.
Another T-Cross lover here! We’ve had ours for two years, it’s a fantastic car and a pleasure to drive. The ACC and safety features are superb.
Had my special addition T-cross nearly 1 year, swapped from a Polo. Love everything about it
Honda HRV is so nice and with the 1.5 Turbo one of the fastes Cross SUV in the whole world. Honda the Power of Dreams!
I wouldn't touch the 1.5T because of the oil dilution problem.

I have HR-V 20171,5petrol. Love this car. It is what I need. Japan quality cars still good inaf. Not EU cars yet...
HR-V with the 1.5L turbo and the Civic infotainment system would've been one of the best cars around

Have honda jazz 2002 with 190k miles,still strong,no issues.👍

VW will start to fall apart as soon as the warrranty runs out, expensive to fix, poor customer service, lots of scandals, etc.
What fell apart with your VW?

I just think the Honda looks better 🤔
Me too, I love my HR-V th-cam.com/video/Sck9QurhDLM/w-d-xo.html
Nope
Not bad design, not fab.Bad choice of engines,1.6D is ok,but petrol r too weak for this car.

Great review. Very easy to follow and a good presenter.
Great review, thanks. Would you alter your assessment and recommendation if buying for a senior driver?
Can you do comparison between Kia seltos and VW T-Cross
Why comparing HR-V to T-Cross? Isn't more reasonable comparing it to the T-Roc? Indeed, T-Cross' lenght is 411cm, while T-Roc's is 424 and HR-V's 433cm
The HRV and the T Cross are more similar in driving style. You would compare a T Roc to something like a Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross or a Toyota RAV4.
Just bought t cross life and I love it
Thanks for demoing magic seats. I have only read the term before not knowing what makes them magic. They're really good.
I expected this. Finally here. Thank you for this
You mention the mid year upgrade for andriod and Apple car play. Does this mean you can upgrade you existing hrv or is thid for new builds only?
How come you give 437L for capacity of HR-V boot when Honda say the maximum is 335L rear seats up? Where did you magic those extra 100L from? 😁
Thank you for the perfect review and handy details.
I have a question if you please! I have a 2.0 TDI passat, would I feel a big difference in driving and speed if I buy a T-Cross?!

Looks like the bottom in the trunk was still in on the t-cross. Slide it down and you would have gotten the same result.
t-cross would be my perfect buy if it had an awd option...and maybe a hybrid engine....
im using Hrv 2018 hybrid with dual clutch.. it does 11 km/ltr
Once again a great review Matt
Thank you for an informative review! You went through the safety features too quickly for me (whose knowledge is outdated).
Honda HR-V car is super
Honda hrv or nissan kicks?
Good review thanks! Wish to see more comparisons :)
T-Cross is more premium?? Really? With all that scratchy plastic? With less leg-room on the rear bench?
Very premium... I've never touched any of those places with plastic...
They are not part of the comfort or driving experience...
Another well balanced and informative presentation. We'll done.
Could you do a comparison with a Subaru XV
Why not mention price for parts and service costing too
My first service had parts adding up to USD 80
Instead of adding techs germans should try space inside , so space will increase but the price
Great review Matt! I wish we had the T-Cross in North America.
Vw has horror stories from their own customers with reliability
Don't you wanna compare the winner to the Seltos
If you care about long term reliability, choose Honda hands down
VW has a major omission. Heated seats. I hope they come in the 110TSI as I am a keen buyer looking for my wife.
HRV or KICKS ?
In Vietnam, the T-cross price is higher than the HR-V 17900usd.
Nice review…
Whats up with Volkswagen and back seat space!!!!
Honda every day
T-Cross is a beautiful car

Yet he feels it’s more premium than the latter.
Matt Campbell agreed, I was pointing out same to the TD Map.
A tiny engine with a turbo will wear out faster than a larger capacity engine naturally aspirated.
Sure thing Jeff
@@R34GTRR35 small engine , has to work harder it stands to reason it must wear out faster.

TRY HONDA VEZEL

You can disable those features if you don’t prefer it. Most people want them and there is no loss them being there.
Scratchy plastics last longer than others materials and are easy to mantein.
I agree. More tech, more chances of failure. How many times inexperienced pilots crash their planes because they had in auto-pilot and had no clue how to fly without automated controls.
It’s still cool
Hrv much much much better...
You are Right my Friend
I choose...????
I choose....Kia Seltos.
How much it costs?

Evidence? Of blisters? Lol
A Japanese car is always funny but never nice to drive, casual at best and the usual boring design.
The Toyota Supra, 86 and Yaris GR want to speak to you and your ignorant assumption
Your wrong the VW is not as reliable as the hrv
Any proof of that?
It is "aitch", not "haitch".
Matt Campbell not a fight Matt. You're the journo. Ask your colleagues. No biggie.
No sat nav ? Really ? No thanks.
I’m not even going to watch the video.
Why?
Honda's a dead brand driving in Australia
Nope

Both dull as dishwater.. Styled by goons.
