You are right on both accounts. This is very disturbing . . . it was meant to be. If you are not disturbed by sin then you don't understand how awful it is nor to you really understand God's righteous wrath. Further, this is not good Christian preaching, this is great Christian preaching. As a preacher myself, I am inspired to tell the truth plainly, while still expressing love (as Driscoll did).
I admit he is a little extreme but I like that he actually mentioned guys who have sex indiscriminately (with no intention of matrimony) and claim to be Christian. The reason for my stance is that I see girls/women told off about this very issue so many times from the religious stand point it's nice to know somebody out there realizes hey those same "un-Christian" girls must be having sex with "un-Christian" boys.

He makes some good points in his speeches but is sexist in general. I suggest reading 10 lies men believe and Abusing Scripture as well what Paul really said about Women. I wish he'd come at this from a more Egalitarian view. My husband and I are leaders/partners together as the bible clearly states many times over that we should be. When you disempower women, sadly you encourage what he is so against. Please be open minded and read the books I suggested.
His anger is what is called "righteous anger" and is, in fact, the same anger that God Himself has when His children are sinning.
