It’s interesting that Amy ended up becoming exactly like her mother. She was trapped in the same cycle and never was able to grow and change.
Especially when you compare her to Chanterelle/Sister Sunshine/Lily/Anne, who evolved from a weak, fearful and desperate runaway to a powerful, courageous and selfless woman who dedicates her life to saving those who are lost, as she used to be.
They both started their journey in similar ways, but one became exactly like their abuser, and the other grew to become a champion for the lost and abused.

i also find it crazy that amy didn't even show a tiny bit gratitude towards willow for turning her back to her original human form when she could have stayed trapped as a rat until her death, and to top it off making willow's life worse just "for fun"...like how unappreciative/unfair can you be, especially with the way she used to be in season 2: a relatively chill person to hang out with who didn't want to end up like her mother (at least imo)

crazy real world in that way, some victims unfortunately continue the cycle while some make sure to break it. Which make it's really conflicting, I mean Amy the victim and Amy the perpetrator is the same person but at the same time not.

I have a head cannon that when the school was blown up, the trophy was destroyed and no longer contained her mothers essence, and it then went to Amy and combined with her to some degree, so she is partly her mother. Amy's personality is gone to the dark side compared to what she was like. People explain it as she blames Willow for letting her remain a rat for so long, but old Amy wouldn't have blamed her.

@@Logan_Baron I totally agree. Amy was way more powerful than Willow in high-school. This ep doesn't make sense for Amy's reasoning otherwise. Getting rejected by Willow one time isn't gonna get her that vengeful. She's basically being Willow's Faith in this ep.

@@arc7375 imo, kennedy as a character is a good addition from an "in real life accuracy" perspective, if you catch my drift. in real life, when one loses someone who was very close to them (whether friend or lover), some tend to hang with/date someone who's almost the polar opposite to the person who was lost, which feels like an attempt to distract oneself in order not to think about the grief and sadness caused by the loss (some sort of mental barrier, kind of). which is what tara and kennedy symbolize: polar opposites. shy, reserved, sweet, plays by the rules and acts with thinking VS easy going, extrovert, is more of a rebel and acts without much thinking. and that's just a few opposing traits that i have in mind with both characters

Before Amy was a rat, her mother tried to steal her youth and switched bodies with her. And she had to do the homework without the benefit of having been in class. Then she was caught trying to hoodwink teachers into giving her good grades without having done any work, and was blackmailed (such an ugly word) into doing a love spell, which backfired and made her fall in love with Alexander Harris, of all people. And though no one else remembers it, I'm sure she does. Then she turned herself into a rat for three years, and found that the world had moved on while she was spinning her wheel. Yeah, she's had a miserable life.

They reminds me of a comment a few people made in defence of Dawn’s character when she first appeared.
People said that she acted like a child far younger than she was supposed to be, and the response to that was that she didn’t act realistically like a fourteen year old girl, because she was made by the adult, male monks who just used what they _imagined_ a girl of that age to be like.

Agreed, though it seems Warren was likely heading that way by all accounts. I mean he killed his ex, though it was an accident, and didn't seem phased other than worried about going to jail. When he had that power of strength and indestructibility he was sleazy as all get out to those girls in the bar. When defeated and that power taken away he got all butthurt and ran to shoot Buffy. As time went on he became more bitter, angry and nasty. It would stand to reason somewhere in Willow's mind the idea of she was morphing into him that he'd possibly continue to evolve into something worse.

It doesn't specify in the episode, but I'm convinced Amy did that spell because she was either influenced by The First or made a deal with it. If you listen to her reasoning for casting the spell, it sounds just like something The First would have whispered to Amy in the guise of someone she would listen to and believe... and if you read the comics, you know what I'm talking about.

A pretty decent episode. Here we see Spike having serious head pains. Buffy is of course very concerned, and we also have to rest of The Scoobies wary now of Giles, thinking that he could have been infiltrated by The First Evil, as we never saw the aftermath of his attack in London. This is of course a Red Herring, as Giles is as normal. The interesting part of course with Willow being turned into Warren and being affected by this, with all the rest of the characters thinking it is Warren as well. Funny part when Andrew grabs Willow, which he thinks is Warren by the breasts, and Buffy punches Warren/Willow, and also when Andrew says 'why cant I come because I used to be evil', no says Xander 'it is because you are really annoying'. Kennedy is being very upfront and overtly sexual with Willow, and many fans did not like Kennedy, as they found her too forward and disruptive in the group. Amy was behind it all, and it is Kennedy who finds her out. Not a bad episode, but much better quality episodes happening in S4 of Angel at the moment.

In season 5's "Fool for Love," Spike told Buffy that if there is no intent to hurt anyone than the chip never activates. So that's how Spike was able to kill all those people when being controlled by the First. He didn't intend on hurting anyone. His will was being controlled. The reason the chip activated now, despite him just peacefully sitting, is because he's starting to remember what he did, so that makes the chip think it's happening now with his free will intact. That confusion is what led the chip to degrade and malfunction.

The control explanation makes sense. I wish the show made that a bit clearer.
As for why the chip is torturing him now, it might be related to the First-induced-murders, or it might simply be that the tech was never intended to last this long. The Initiative expected to have done something else with their subjects (probably just kill them) by now.

I don't like Kennedy, especially at this point in the game. I feel like she is a pushy, arrogant, sneaky character and that is before you add Willow into the mix at all. I don't feel she is right for Willow. I was super mad at the writers for rushing Willow into a relationship. It hasn't even been a year since Tara died. Women grieve a lot longer than that when they lose a partner. Men may jump in quickly, but women don't. Especially when they have such a deep love like Tara and Willow did. The whole thing just pushes my buttons and ticks me off. If there had been a season 8, it would have been an appropriate time.
I wish they would have explored Willow as a bisexual instead of as a lesbian, especially when she said one woman about Tara. Because I don't think her feelings for Oz or Xander should have been erased by, "Gay now." Those feelings were very real and with Oz, incredibly deep and loving. Her having feelings for a man again, like the principal, perhaps, and being confused by it, would have been so interesting to watch, but nope, instead we had Kennedy. Or just brought in someone else, male or female who was a grown up instead of someone who was obviously jailbait. I mean these girls were Dawn's age. That's icky. So I really did not like that relationship one bit.

    Kennedy is the worst.
She _aggressively_ pursues Willow, who openly has shown she wasn’t interested, especially after the loss of Tara, but Kennedy pretty much forces herself onto her. To the point where Willow tortures herself as seen in the show, by becoming Warren.
If Kennedy was played by a male actor, I’m certain this wouldn’t have flown.
The fact that the issue is “solved” by Kennedy kissing Willow again is honestly really sickening, in my opinion.
The irony is that AH herself requested that Willow end the show in a relationship, so she got what she wanted. It’s still disturbing though.

I don't like Kennedy as a person, but I _do_ like that Willow manages to move on from Tara (after, clearly, a lot of difficulty-it would be really bad if she just jumped in a new relationship as if Tara didn't matter).

@@theadamabramsI think it’s perfectly reasonable for Willow to find love again, absolutely agreed. _Everyone_ deserves that. I just feel that Kennedy was a bad match and was almost predatory in her aggressive pursuit of a clearly uncomfortable Willow.
I know in the comics, their relationship doesn’t work out, but at least it’s an amicable split.
