  • To preserve precious water in Nevada water reclamation districts convert wastewater, also known as influent, into usable water for things like water landscapes and cooling electrical plants. The Nevada Independent toured the Clark County Water Reclamation District facility back in January with Gilbert Cruz, a wastewater operator to see how it all works.

What happens to the biosolids cake and methane produced at the plant?

This is so cool. Does anyone know what it would take to get hired at the plant? Even at an entry level?

I treat the manhole sewer walls with pesticide in AZ, you do get used to the smell. I live here in Las Vegas and travel to do this job in AZ. I'd love to get a job in wastewater reclamation, it's an amazing part of the process that allows us to live in the desert in regards to water consumption. While maybe it's not the most green idea, why don't we use the disposable biosolids to generate electricity too?
