  • Where does the dirty water go when it goes down the drain? A Poop Plant?! We really mean a wastewater treatment plant. If you live or work in the city of Las Vegas, that water goes to our Water Pollution Control Facility.
Every city must do something with their waste, and that is where the Las Vegas Water Pollution Control Facility comes into play. Talk about a dirty job, but someone has to do it! The facility spans about 160 acres with room for an additional 40 acres of future expansion. All water that goes down the drain in Las Vegas is treated at one of the wastewater facilities in southern Nevada and returned back to Lake Mead. This facility plays a key role in Lake Mead water conservation.
Follow along with us as we take a tour of a wastewater treatment plant and learn about the process of cleaning the water from start to finish!

Water drawn from Lake Mead is treated at the Southern Nevada Water Authority's Alfred Merritt Smith Water Treatment Facility or the River Mountains Water Treatment Facility.

They had an underwater lake they drained it. They have a poop plant but still dried lake mead. Regardless of what they did it’s a tell tell sign that the ever growing population and construction has taken a toll. That chalk line tells you how Las Vegas has failed miserably regardless of their efforts. One day it will dry you are in the time of watching it happen. City in a dry desert won’t last forever.
