Awesome videos! I’m about to purchase a 2nd gen as well with the 3.0 engine and I was just wondering some things that you would recommend I do when I first get the car? I plan to maintain and take absolute care of this car while still off-roading but I don’t know where to start and the first things to do. Thanks! Keep up the awesome work!
Probably start with a good tune up and fluids and filters. Grease all the zero fittings. Check out driveline and steering/suspension components for wear. Good luck and have fun!!
Good to see you with another up load!! My 94' 4Runner is in perfect running order with just under 200,000 miles. I'll probably grab another throttle body from the junk yard just in case I'm unable to get one in the future. Easy fix if that idle control valve is removable on easy terms. Only thing I need to do is tighten a heat shield that vibrates a bit when first start up when it's cold, rattle goes away shortly after warm. I assume it's not the valves. I'll get to tightening it up soon. Thx
I was suspecting this was my case since I couldn’t find a vac leak and the rpm surges between 1200 and 850. Im going tighten my down see if that helps I also coudnt find that replacement only just an entire throttle for 200+
Yeah it'd a tough one. As far as I can tell not much is available from toyota or aftermarket anymore as far as throttle body goes. I wonder is that little part will ultimately be what makes these have an end date rather than perpetually rebuildable like a classic car is.
On D type EFI, the valve operation can also be checked by removing the air inlet pipe at the throttle body and blocking the fresh air port inside the throttle bore. When the engine is cold, engine rpm should drop greater than 100 rpm. Once the engine reaches normal operating temperature 176'F), rpm drop should not exceed 100 rpm.
I noticed my car had a surging high idle so I covered the hole in the video, and it would idle pretty low for 1 second and stall out. Would you suggest I turn that valve in?
Mines not high at idle but it is under at 400 at drive and park but when I put in neutral it stays at 600 couldntgis be the iacv as well pr can it be something else
Could be a vacuum leak or unmetered air coming in between your air box and the throttle body. Mine was doing this and it ended up being the old / brittle crank ventilation tube that plugs into the rubber intake hose. It could not seal onto the valve cover. I replaced it with a $5 generic hose from the parts store. No more low idle. I’d look at the intake parts and see if you have a crack or bad seal somewhere. Good luck!
Mine idles much higher than yours after fully warming up. Between 1700 and 2000 RPM. And then after a hot restart it idles way too low. Around 450 or 500. Once you put it in gear and turn the A/C on, it gets ready to stall. Stays that low until its been driven for about 5 minutes.

Mine was messed with, took me weeks to figure out and i made countless tools to readjust mine
Yeah I have a few spare throttle bodies laying around to mess with. Those IAC's are in there tight!!

Guatemala! That's where all the parts are at...
Have you have an issue where you can’t rev past 2000rpm? My 3.0 is doing that for a while and it acts like a rev limiter when I hit 2000rpm
Have you solve your issue yet? I have the same problem with my 3.0

I have the same issue. Any luck finding the solution?
@@nrguitar11 No, not yet. I have reason to believe it might be a vacuum leak. maybe the PCV? all other lines seem to be sealed up properly.
