  • 7 PROBLEMS With The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado You MUST Know!
If you haven't owned a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado may want to think twice
about buying one. The new Chevrolet Silverado undoubtedly has some commendable features, but compared to its rivals, it’s fair to conclude that the manufacturer fell short of many
    expectations.
Despite the Silverado being a big truck, it drives like a small car. The Silverado is
enjoyable to drive and easy to maneuver into parking places. Additionally, it offers
considerate features like the Multi-Flex tailgate, which can be ordered, which makes it easier
to transport longer objects and enter the bed by converting the tailgate into a step or load
stop. The tailgate can even be used on construction sites as a desk. With the Silverado,
things aren't perfect, though. Compared to the Ford F-150 and Ram 1500, it has a less
potent engine lineup. A more opulent cabin is also featured in the GMC Sierra.
That’s all great, but now let's look at the 7 issues most 2024 Chevrolet Silverado owners find most frustrating…
    Number 7…
    OUTDATED INTERIOR IN BASE MODES.
The current version of Chevy's full-size pickup was so obviously flawed from the minute it
was shown. The company hurriedly launched the latest generation to keep up with
competitors. Thus, there was no time for interior renovation. The dashboard design stayed
the same instead, and it did so up until recently when the midsize cycle redesign finally
introduced a new, much more contemporary dashboard design. However, a new interior was
not standard on all trim levels of the redesigned Silverado. The simplest model still has an
outdated cabin without a fashionable design and a small infotainment screen.
This essentially means that getting a modern interior design will cost more, which turns off
potential Silverado buyers. Furthermore, remember that conditions are far from optimal,
even if you're ready to pay more for a finer interior. Aside from the sizable infotainment
screen, appealing dashboard layout, and marginally enhanced ergonomics. When compared
to the competition, a few things still feel below average, and the choice of materials is
particularly lacking. Simply put, these Silverados still trail major competitors in this area.
    Number 6…
    FUEL MANAGEMENT
Due to the recent spike in gas costs, even truck drivers have begun to focus heavily on
efficiency, which has left many Chevy Silverado owners feeling rather underwhelmed. True,
the Silverado lags behind several of its main competitors. A prime example is the base
turbo-4, which gets about 19 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway. Ford's standard V6
achieves about 19 MPG in the city and 24 MPG on the highway, as opposed to roughly 20
MPG and 25 MPG for the Ram's base V6. Furthermore, Ford's 2.7-liter turbo V6 is more
powerful than the Chevy turbo 4 while achieving remarkable fuel economy ratings of 20 mpg
in the city and 26 mpg on the highway.
Similar circumstances apply to other comparable powertrain choices. While Ram's Hemi V8
can achieve roughly 23 MPG on the highway, Chevy's V8 engines can achieve up to 21
MPG on the highway and 16 to 17 MPG in the city. Finally, the 5.0-liter Coyote engine from
Ford achieves fairly good mileage ratings of 18 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway.
The diesel version, which has recently been modified and now offers greater power and
torque than Ram's V6 oil burner at the same time, is the only way to attain superior fuel
economy. The Rams engine gets a few more miles per gallon on the wide road, while the
Chevy inline 6 turbo diesel has superior highway fuel economy.
    Number 5…
    PRODUCT QUALITY
Pickups from just a decade ago aren't comparable because of how far modern vehicles have
come in terms of ride quality. The Silverado is no exception, and compared to some models
from earlier generations, it is unquestionably a far nicer car to drive. The Ram 1500, which
revolutionized the pickup category with its multi-link suspension system, is one of the
primary competitors. It is more agile with significantly less body lean through corners, but not
    everything is perfect.
On the other hand, Chevy's pickup still uses reliable leaf springs. a technological answer that
has existed since the beginning of pickup trucks. There are a few well-known downsides to
the technical approach, particularly in terms of comfort. There is a lot of bounce, especially
when the cargo bed is empty. Even though some competitors, like the F-150, also rely on
leaf springs, they seem to be able to smooth out road irregularities a little bit more.
To be honest, this chassis does offer several advantages, one of which is maneuverability.
When you're in the driver's seat, this pickup handles confined situations reasonably well and
appears smaller. However, most Silverado owners dislike the virtually nonexistent steering
feel, especially at higher speeds, which is another drawback.

I have a 2017 GMC Sierra 2500HD Denali with gas engine & 6L90 transmission. Recently, error reading of PO740/PO741 indicating Torque Converter problem. After dealer opened pan to find metal fragments, they "suspected" early stages of transmission failure & wanted $6,500 for new transmission (cost me over $500 for "diagnostics"). I had them put new fluid in so I could drive it to a local transmission shop. There was no longer an error indicated & local transmission shop could not see any problems. They recommended I continue driving & watch for changes or high RPMs. So far so good, but I checked new prices for same vehicle & they are $90,000+!! The sticker price on mine was $51,000 in 2017. I understand increases, but WTF!!! I researched the PO740 error code & found out A LOT of GM vehicles with the 6L90 are having A LOT of problems! We receive the Legacy discount, which seems to be less than 2017. I've always owned GM vehicles, but now I will seek alternatives in the future. GM seems to be producing cheaper components, not caring about obvious problems & then, jacking up the price!

The torque converter is failing. It’s a known issue. Don’t be cheap…have torque converter replaced with a billet torque converter. When that torque converter fails bad enough, you’re gonna have to replace the trans, torque converter, transmission lines, and transmission cooler. My 2015 Silverado 2500HD 6.0/6L90E threw those same codes and my trans temps went above what they normally ran. Had new converter installed and had shop beef up my transmission while they had it out. My truck had 40,000 miles on it at the time…which was last fall (Sept 2023).

I just bought a 2024 Silverado , I got the 100k extended warranty . So far I really like it . A few of the guys at the dealer really wanted my old truck . I told them no chance . I have a 2003 silverado 5.3 LS trim with over 300k miles . I have a tune on the engine and the transmission since 2007 when I paid it off . She's still spicy . I bought it new for just over 22k and gave it maintenance love . 80,000 mi ago I rebuilt the transmission with all heavy duty upgrades from the five pinion planet to the 13 vein pump and everything in between . I added in a Yukon differential with a 4:10 gear and new pair of upgraded springs . Went through the motor redid the timing chain head gaskets water pump alternator starter all sensors the throttle body coil pcks and bought some new fuel injectors from holley . I replaced both heads with upgraded factory 706 heads since one had the self cleaning steam feature because of a tiny micro crack . It hardly used any coolant and didn't affect the way the truck ran . It uses 1/4 qt of oil on a 5k change . The air conditioning still blows cold . Since I live in Florida it's not rusty and it still looks good although I have driven the clear coat off of most of the hood and half of the roof. I'm getting a new headliner captain's chairs and carpet for it . If the new one breaks down at least I can drag it to the shop with the old one so they can fix it . 😁

However, since "Motor Future" is too cheap to give us a human narrator but instead uses a horrible fake computer voice, it is clear that "Motor Future" is too cheap to do the research needed to give us well researched content. I own a RWD 2021 Silverado with the 3.0 inline 6 Duramax and 10 speed transmission. It's rated at 33mpg highway and can easily achieve that at 70mph. It has the same torque (460), as the top dog 6.2 V8; only it reaches that 460 point at only 1500 rpm. That low end torque, and only 277 HP will stay with a Ram 5.7 hemi in the 0-60 stoplight run. Unless you crawl under while its level and fill the little fill hole on the side of the transmission untill it spills out all over to know if its got fluid(steer clear)

My Ram had just got 100k miles, and ended up having a tic that got louder. Ended up being the lifter on the cam shaft. I decided to let her go instead of repair. Got the 100k/10year extended warranty. Took me almost 10 years to put 100k on the last one, so I hope I'm good. Different dealers tried selling me on the 4 cylinder. Sorry. I've always been a G.M. guy until now, and coming to that realization was difficult. I purchased a brand new '22 GMC 2500 quad cab SLT, 6.6 gas. I really loved that truck until the transmission started acting up after a couple hundred miles (super hard first to second shift, and shuddering.) I took the truck to the dealership multiple times until 13,000 miles, and i demand they look at it. They basically thought i was full of s**t until they pulled the transmission pan, and found metal fragments. They basically rebuilt the transmission free of charge which mind you took 30 days. Shortly after receiving the truck with transmission rebuilt it started to do what it was doing before. The Service Manager's response to this was to attempt to "blow up" the transmission to get a completely new one from G.M. Took the loss on a truck with 15,000 miles on it. I then purchased a 2023 Silverado RST quad cab. At 6100 miles the new 10 speed is shuddering. My question is, can they even build a reliable transmission any more? I guess it'll be a Dodge next time.

Just vought a brand new 2023 LT Silverado 3 weeks ago. Has the new interior and big infotainment setup. Truck is beautiful inside. 2.7L 4 Cyl actually has more torque than Ford v6 model. Also no other brand has the multi flex tailgate that I have. You left out some key information. RAM has that "eTorque" on their V6 adn the HEMI. They're having massive issues with them. Almost bought a RAM the day before I bought my Silverado. Dealer even let me take it home overnight. RAM did away with the alternator and went to a generator to charge the 48V battery pack. This is purely for fuel economy and emissions. I have a friend that's been a RAM master tech for years. Lots of eTorque failures and 2-3 months on backorder for replacement. Also, it's only covered for 36k miles. Yep, not covered under powertrain. RESEARCH IT. Also the RAM I test drove had a really dinky 4" screen for the radio. No remote start either, for a $45,000 truck?
Scored my 23 silverado on year end clearance. Sticker was $56,000....I paid $43,600 with 100k mile warrnaty. Drive the 4 cyl in the silverado, its a very good motor. Traded my 2019 2.7 in for the 2023.

Out of hundreds of thousands of vehicles made, a certain percentage will have issues - no matter what line they roll off. I've had 3 RAMs over 20 years...Not one had an issue. I got 3 good trucks. Yet a friend was frequently getting warranty service with his RAM. My contractor friend had a Silverado that he drove with no issues until the wheels fell off.
