Dixie, I wanna tell you something, and I hope it ain't too sappy.
Watching you hike the PCT these past 6 months has helped me pull through one of the toughest times of my life. About two weeks before your first video, my fiance of 3 years left me without much explanation, and it kinda threw my life plans out the window and left me in a painful limbo.
And then I stumbled on your first PCT video, and it stirred something inside me. I had always kinda heard of the Appalachian Trail, being from West Virginia, but I didn't know there were people that could/did hike the whole thing. And now, after 6 months of watching your videos, doing research, trying out gear, going on hikes, and pinching paychecks, I'm now a registered member of the AT Class of 2018.
What you said in this video really got to me too. You really can't live in the past, and you can't dwell on disappointments and changes in your plan when they inevitably come. Seeing you roll through the punches and take what ever came at you and still appreciate and be in awe of where you were was just such an inspiration to me.
So I just wanted to thank you so much, Dixie. Congratu-freakin-lations, and happy trails!

That is amazing! I myself recently separated with my babydady and these videos definitely sparked something inside of me, telling me I want to do more good things for myself and to better myself through different experiences! I want to come with you! haha
The ABSOLUTE BEST through hike series ever put on You Tube. You win Dixie. Best actor. Best photography. Best editing and best music. But the best thing of all is that you did it. You didn't skip, you didn't whine and you didn't quit. Now I'm going to watch this entire series again. Congratulations on a successful through hike Dixie. You are the best. Now on to the CDT.

I binged for three days on the 35 episodes of the PCT.
Wow. What a great bunch of videos and information/entertainment. In many ways I felt like I was watching a National Geographic special, but with the personal touch of Dixie.
My favorite two parts: First, when you swam the raging river. I was so glad that the two others were there to help you ashore...exciting. Second, The forests that had been burned. I've spent a lot of time in the woods, but never saw the devastation fire causes. Somehow if found a strange sense of ragged beauty in the leafless trees. Sad, but beautiful...weird.
So, I finished the 35 part series and thought, "Now I can get some work done" and the first video for the beginning of the AT adventure series auto-loaded. What? I didn't realize that you have videos for the AT. Oh well, so much for my todo list for the next three days, ha.
Dixie, you do a great job. Loved every minute of it. I'm looking forward to the CDT videos next year.
P.S. Aaron, you did a bang-up job on the editing. I imagine that you had to spend lots of time sorting, cutting, and all the other magic you do, so a great big thanks to you for your part in making the projects a great big sucess.

Not going to lie... i was at a coffee shop watching this last video and my heart started to beat so fast the last few minutes. I tried to contain myself but i started CRYING when she got to the finish line.
I've been following you since the AT thru-hike and i have followed this hike religiously every week. Thank you so much for everything you have created, for us.

First let me say that I am not a land hiker, but it has always been in the back of my mind. I could get out and get away from crap, catch a fish and try to remember what was wrong...but this was right. I started to watch your vids less than a month ago. I am in my 60's and wish that I had wathced land hykers when I was younger. I have a son that moved to Oregon because I raised him to Love the outdoors, but when he came to me to say that he was leaving....I could only say "Crack It" meaning life....there are no do overs....but, there was not enough "Outside" here in MO. It is great to see that some people don't get caught up in things...when you feel the need to move...move...I have watched and even listened to your vids at night and am trying to get fit enough to do a hike with my son when I retire....Thanks

I'm not really into TH-cam channels but when I stumbled across your AT videos a while back I became addicted pretty quickly. I seriously look forward to these videos every week and even watched each week after moving to Australia (and rarely having reliable internet). I tell everyone I meet while traveling the world about you and your journey! I think my roommate knows just as much about you as I do! In fact I just watched this last video from my hostel in Thailand and I had to let you know how excited I am for you!! There is no greater feeling than accomplishing something you have had your mind set on and have worked towards for so long - dedicating every aspect of your life to- and I know that must have been so so satisfying to finish. I would have been the same way with hiking every open mile possible. You have inspired me to hike the AT which I have been researching for a while now and hope to do in the next few years once I make it back to the states (which I have also been telling people about thinking it will force me to actually do it). Congratulations and I can't wait to see what's next!!!
Not going to lie, I shed a tear while watching this with my 7 year old daughter. We’ve watched your videos together over the past several months and you have become an inspiration to both of us. We’ve made a plan that in 7 years from now, we’ll hike the PCT together. Mom and daughter. Your struggles have given her the hope and inspiration needed to deal with the everyday situations that life throws at us. “How would Dixie deal with this situation?” has become our mantra. Thank you

Chuck Borghoff, you are correct... Dixie is a hero. She is a normal person that saw an insurmountable task in front of her and she did it anyway. Additionally, Dixie is a good role model. Not all heroes are good role models and not all role models are heroes. But she fills the shoes of both quite well.

Wow, those last few days were so intense! But what gorgeous scenery and again the editing and music were just perfect. Congrats on marching thru all the bad times with your head held high and that indomitable spirit of yours shining on right to the very end. Same here. I started watching her AT vids early this year and I figured what the hell? I'm hitting the AT in 4 months.
I'm hoping for AT class of 2019. I'll be doing sections in 2018, an even did a little this year. I hadn't stepped foot on the AT in 27 years, but Dixie inspired me too!

Thrilled you actually made it, and we got to go along for the ride! We would have been proud of you even if you couldn't manage the whole hike, Dixie, but it must be so satisfying for you to have pulled it off. So glad you overcame your competitive nature and doubled back to regroup when your sleeping bag got wet. Disappointing but so smart...none of us wanted to see Perk making your final episode for you! Now go home, have a cold one, and lose those trail legs for a while.

I'm watching this on the day of it's release. I live very close to the northern terminus of the PCT and today i bailed from work because of a wind and rain storm. I'm soooo glad you made it before this weather system. It was a joy to watch your journey and I look forward to seeing your trip on the CDT. Congrats and thank you for bringing us along for the ride!

I'd recommend that for all thru-hikers because he, John Muir, walked all over the US, that you read his collective writings. There are may editions and/or audio books. He saw on his hikes a world that has almost disappeared. His walk to Florida right after the Civil War is amazing. Muir's writing style is flowery but the accounts of his travels should resonate for anyone taking a long hike.
Way to go you guys. Dixie you are just so dang lovable. I have so enjoyed this journey, can’t wait for the next. Enjoy your recuperation time. See you on the CDT

I'm a retired and caring for my wife who has Huntington's disease. In my 20's I loved to backpack in the Smokies. You have brightened my day following you on the AT and this year the PCT. Wish I could get out and hole again, but if I can't, I get to have my second childhood through you.
First off, a huge congratulations on finishing the PCT. Man Washington went fast. I can't wait for your adventures to continue. And I'm terribly sorry you didn't catch Washington at it's best. The Cascades are some of the most beautiful mountains to hike in the Spring and Summer. You caught the Fall and Winter storms. We don't hike then, we snowshoe. I'm doing a day hike that way this weekend. Another type of beauty. Hope you can come back and see our great state in better weather. Take care and rest up for the CDT.
Well lady the PCT is behind you. But the adventure continues, doesn't it?!! I've been watching about 60 different thru hikers and some section hikers and a few have some great views. But the imagery you capture is second to none and at times 'stunning' is the adjective that comes to mind first. That plus the "Dixie" factor makes you a major "backpacking star"!!
